Event Description

Please take a minute or two and click here to check out Barack Obama’s transition website. He’s asking people to tell him what they think. It’s a perfect opportunity for each one of us to tell him and his people about the Pickens Plan and why we believe it’s important to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Two times during the campaign, President-elect Obama said, “for the sake of our economy, our security, and the future of our planet, I will set a clear goal as president: In 10 years, we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East. We will do this. Washington has been talking about our oil addiction for the last 30 years."

He knows what the problem is. Now we just have to make sure his people know that the Pickens Plan is the answer. Leave a comment below to tell the rest of the Army what you told President-elect Obama.

P.S. You can also show your support by digging this article on Digg.com.

We need to raise the focus on alternative energy to the point where it is a daily top 5 item to spend time, funding and management of resources.

We need to match and exceed the emphasis on alternative energy generation that Europe shows.
Maximum efforts from as many resources as possible will accomplish the following goals:
1. it will drive our foreign policy towards a more sane treatment of the middle east. Treat our world neighbors with integrity not as sources of oil.
2. It will create millions of new jobs for Americans. We need jobs now for many displaced American workers. What makes more sense than to take care of two "uber" objectives for America - Sane Energy policy and putting millions of Americans back to work.
3. It will ensure that this present civilization will survive. Our present dependence on oil will kill our planet and kill this civilization if we don't quickly shift away from oil as our major source of energy. By quickly, I mean within 5-10 years oil at <50% of present consumption; alternative energy sources generating more than 50% of America's energy needs.

All of the above to say that Alternative energy policy absolutely must be top priority next to national security, education, and economic policy. I'd place it number 2 right after national security.
It's that important.
Take a look at the momentum that the PickensPlan has garnered.
A lot of voters are behind that plan. I believe firmly that if all Americans get behind a cohesive Energy plan that includes Alternative energy emphasis at the top, we will do well.

Respectively yours

I'm looking forward to what this army is able to accomplish. Here is the info I posted on Obama's transition site:

I feel the US needs to return to focusing more on our needs than other countries in an effort to become more secure. A huge part of that is setting aggressive goals for getting all energy from renewable resources and/or more efficient resources. Setting these goals high will spur tremendous innovation and success. New energy products need to be affordable to the lower income households & small businesses. We must reduce our dependence on foreign oil and the Picken's Plan (pickensplan.com) is a great start. Imagine what we could do if we kept the $700 billion we send to foreign oil companies inside the US. I have small children and I would love to see more educational funding and the greening of our schools. Lastly, we should be providing a massive funding package for renewable energy research & deployment to create new & more efficient energy sources and provide new jobs.

Following is my email to President-Elect B. Obama, submitted on 12-15-08 at http://change.gov/page/s/energyenviro : My husband and I didn't vote for you, but when my husband heard that you had won the election, he stated, "I didn't vote for President-elect Obama , but I will pray for him that he will be a great President." And I echo his prayers. Of course you know, true greatness comes from following God's precepts in His personal letter to us, "The Holy Bible." I'm so glad you have declared, publicly, your faith and trust in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

I believe that if our government will put God back into the "formula" for governing, God will bless us once again. "Doing what is right lifts people up. But sin brings shame to any nation." (Proverbs 14:34 New International Reader's Version)
I also believe an energy plan for the U.S.A. is necessary to bring our nation back to greatness and self-sufficiency. I hope you will let T. Boone Pickens work with you to make the U.S.A. become energy independent as quickly as possible.
My father-in-law was a minister and he advocated, "A poor plan worked will bring better results than a good plan not worked."

In God we trust. God, bless America.

Praying for you and your family--and Administration--and Congress

sent this to Obama on his transition website.
Dear Mr. Obama
During your campaign you said, “for the sake of our economy, our security, and the future of our planet, I will set a clear goal as president: In 10 years, we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East. We will do this. Washington has been talking about our oil addiction for the last 30 years."
My husband and I, along with many family members have signed up with the Pickens Plan. We hope your promises are true and will be kept and put into action promptly.
We also hope you will work with the direction the Pickens Plan is heading to make our country energy independent.
Most Sincerely,
Donna Gordon

President-elect Obama:

Congratulations on becoming the 44th President of the United States. I understand that there are a lot of challenges and this sometimes distracts from other problems that are just as real, except are not hot topics in the media. I am talk of energy independence. We must break our addiction to oil. If you want an economic stimulus package then all you have to do is support ALL initiates that promote alternative fuels. The Pickens Plan is the only plan that I have seen that can actually work! Just think of the jobs we could create if we opened up the wind corridor in the mid-west or how many new jobs could be created just from opening up new natural gas pumps at gas stations. And while doing this we get the added benefit of upgrading our antiquated power grid. The new grid would also reduce the risk of terrorist attacks on our power system. This is truly a win, win, win situation but it is going to take bold leadership to steward this through the bureaucratic mess that is Washington.

I must caution that I do not think government should be the one to lead the way but I do think government should make sure that it is lending support where appropriate, crafting environments where the private sector can flourish and especially not getting in the way when the private sector wants to innovate and create new green jobs!

Thank you for listening, good luck and God bless you, your family and the United States of America. -- Joe Hughes

I have already made heavy use of the change.gov website. I encourage everyone to leave advice, encouragement, and questions about not only energy, but all topics of interest. I have endorsed the Pickens Plan in my posts there, and will continue to do so where appropriate. I have put forth a plan for the establishment of wind farms, and the complete feasability of a true plug in hybrid, that will be affordable and desirable by the general public and support a 150 mile pure electric range. I am working on a plan now to submit both at this website, and other methods to facilitate the addition of wind power as a major part of our electric generation within 6 years, and make it economicallly viable...

I also believe that, in return for a bailout package for the Big 3, that we should require them to dedicate the resource to design, and bring to production, viable alternative power (electric or CNG) vehicles for fleet use. Specifically to replace school busses, local delivery trucks, and city service vehicles. The Big 3 can develop a platform (chassis) for supply to the traditional manufacturers for incorporation in their vehicle shells. I also advocate some sort of subsidies program to help local entities adopt these vehicles.

My message to the President-Elect:

I did not vote for the President-Elect, but respect Mr. Obama's ability to inspire and lead. However, had Mr. Obama publicly endorsed the Pickens Plan, I would have voted for him on that issue alone. I hope that Mr. Obama will continue his leadership by supporting the Pickens Plan, as I do, and end our dependence on foreign oil within the next 10 years.

I have left messages twice already on Change.gov, and think this is a great place to go and push the PickensPlan. I stated my concern about our oil dependence, and concern about the impending failure of the auto industry. I expressed support for natural gas vehicles as a solution and the need for the auto industry to retool. I am very happy that President elect Obama is not going to provide bailout funds to the auto industry without a concrete plan for retooling. I will probably visit a third time and pust the plan again.

Thanks.

Dear Mr. President Elect:
I have looked at T. Boone Pickens Plan for energy independence.
I belive if we change all goverment trucks to a natural gas, we could immediatly decrease a lot of our dependence on foreign oil AND create American jobs!. To go furter, we could change over all heavy duty trucks and semi tractor-trailers to natural gas. These measures would immedialy decrease our dependence on foreign oil by 30%. Using wind, solar and bio-fules would reduce this even furter. Please visit Boone's website http://www.pickensplan.com/didyouknow/ for more information.
Boone's plan makes President Elect Obama's goal realistic and possible.

Thanks for listening,

Energy Independence is critical to our economy and our national security. Borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Mideast cartel puts us at the mercy of 2 interests not always concerned with our well-being. We need to ween ourselves off of oil ASAP. We need plug-in hybrids yesterday, powered by alternative energy power plants running on wind, wave, geothermal, solar, CNG, bio-, or nuclear. We need all government vehicles replaced by CNG, and other alternative fuel sourced vehicles, immediately. As to drilling for more oil in ANWR, fine... to send a message to the world, that we refuse to held hostage by oil cartels. Drilling offshore should only be done if it can be done in an environmental sound manner. After oil, water will become our next scarce resource. Gore and Pickens have the right ideas. Listen to them.
