Eric

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right?

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right? Then reneged on his $1 Million dollar wager (twice) that nothing in the swift boat ads could be proven false, right? Yes, he's one and the same.

This is also the Pickens that has contributed more than $5 Million in campaign and political contributions to Gee Dubya and his neo-conservative cronies, the very ones that have polarized the country, told us we were invading Iraq because of non-existent WMDs etc. etc.

And now it turns out that it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

And here we have Slim Pickens telling us we all have to "get on the same page" and "be on the same team" and "elect the right leadership". I wonder if the Pickster thinks any of those "right" leaders ought to be Democrats?

Let's face it. I don't care how wealthy a mogul this guy is, he has absolutely zero credibility if you read his bio. Go ahead and read his Wikipedia bio with an unbiased eye, then tell me you trust this guy to tell us how to save the country. This guy trying to unify America is like Attila the Hun trying to unify Asia and Western Europe.

Atleast he is trying. Neither of the candidates have a plan. Hopefully, this will get all of the US activley engaged in solving this.

...and your contribution is?

Regardless of political views, i believe any alternative energy plan is good when it involves the private sector on a massive scale like this. It will lead to high paying jobs and a stronger economy.

Thank God somebody "swiftboated" John Kerry. He just went up big-time in my mind. I did not know he was involvement in that beautiful telling of the truth. BTW, did you know that the whole Swiftboat thing was never plausibly shown to be false. There was a lot of whining and crying about it, but it was never shown to be inaccurate. "You cant handle the truth !".

And I love how Democrats always speak in this elitist tone, as if they are the great Unifiers.
So if a Republican disagrees with a Democrat, he is a bum. If a Democrat disagrees with a Republican, he is only trying to do what's best for the country. Yeah, that seems to make sense.....NOT.

By the way, Michael, Obama ?? Now there's a blow hard if ever there was one...rivaled only by Kerry. The guy's an embarrassment. Gives a speech on Memorial Day, and says "We are hear today to honor the fallen soldiers....some of who I see in the crowd here today". Or when he talks about having visited 57 States, with one more to go.....are you kidding me ??? The guy's a vegetable with a teleprompter.

And you mean all we have to do to get ourselves out of this mess we have gotten ourselves into with Saudi Arabian oil is:

1. Produce massive wind electric generating plants
2. Convince Detroit to start pumping us out all these neat new natural gas powered automobiles and motorcycles.
3. Create a huge natural gas infrastructure to supply our slick millions of new natural gas powered vehicles with lots and lots of vroom vroom juice?

And 20 years down the road we'll be importing 70% of our natural gas from Saudi Arabia (or whomever). Let's just trade the oil addiction for a natural gas addiction.

Henry Ford was a racist a**hole, Ben Franklin was a philandering alcoholic, George Washington owned slaves, bla bla bla.......the point is this: I don't care where the solution comes from as long as it is paid for by those that would profit. We cannot afford to be picky.

And, by the way, what part of the Swift Boat ads was proven false?

"BTW, did you know that the whole Swiftboat thing was never plausibly shown to be false."

From Wikipedia:

Pickens and friend and fellow financier Harold Clark Simmons are financial supporters of President George W. Bush, having contributed heavily to both his Texas and national political campaigns. In 2004, Pickens contributed generously to 527 Republican groups, including a $3 million contribution for the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth attacking Bush's rival, John Kerry, and $2.5 million to the Progress for America advocacy group. Pickens has offered $1 Million to anyone who can prove any of the Swiftboat ads that he financed were untrue. Kerry, rewording the "challenge" as proving anything the Swift Boat veterans said during the 2004 campaign was false, said he would accept the challenge and on November 17, 2007 said he would disprove the charges against him.[6] Pickens then clarified the challenge and added additional criteria [7], asking for Kerry's service records, videos and tapes made during his service and his military journal. Kerry responded, saying Pickens had backtracked and offered again to meet him in a public forum to dispute his claims. So far, the lie that Kerry was said to disprove has yet to be revealed. [8] Pickens has yet to respond.

Also:

On 22 June 2008, a group of Vietnam veterans accepted the challenge and sent a 12-page letter — with a 42-page attachment of military records to support their case — that rebutted not one but several of the accusations of the Swift boat group.[31] Boone Pickens has responded with a message stating "In reviewing your material, none of the information you provide speaks specifically to the issues contained in the ads,” he wrote, “and, as a result, does not qualify for the $1 million."[32]

So basically, if Mr. Pickens doesn't agree that he's been proven wrong, in his mind (and the minds of many other nitwits) he's not wrong.

Although, he doesn't have the ballsac to stand up in a public forum and defend his position on the Swiftboat ads.

Eric: I read your Wikipedia feedback. FIrst, I always have to laugh at how people think that because it's in Wikipedia, it MUST be true. But that's beside the point.

But what you really proved to me is that what I said was correct. The facts reported about Kerry in the Swiftboat ads were never shown to be false.

I have learned that this is how liberals debate. They dance around the exact specifics of a question, will ridicule and insult someone, or try to discredit them....or my favorite is how they laugh with great condescension at how stupid the other person must be.....but they never get to the actual point being debated.

Here's how the swift boat thing went down:

Pickens say's he'll give $1 Million to anyone who could prove anything in the ads untrue.

Kerry accepts the offer, and requests to deliver the evidence in a public forum with Pickens present.

Pickens backpeddles and tries to change the bet. He tells Kerry that he must provide his service record, war journals, personal movies etc. etc. AND that Kerry has to put up a million dollars of his own if he loses.

Kerry calls him on his backpeddling and again offers to prove the ads are falsehoods in a public forum with Pickens there.

Pickens ... is ... silent.

Fair enough Whit :-) I only rebutted because of the title of the Thread, talking about Kerry being "swiftboated". I still believe OIL, obtained INTERNALLY, is probably the fastest solution, short-term. But maybe this TBP knows something I don't....check that....I'm sure he knows a lot of things I don't. P.S. Has anyone see his hot wife !! Not bad for an 80-year old guy !!
