Drill now, Build Alternative Cars, Design better looking Wind Turbines

If there is no government interference, drilling for gas and oil is fast and efficient. Sarah Palin's method of sharing revenue (in thousands)with citizens might help get a proposition favoring off-shore drilling. through in California. There should be a big push to change cars to natural gas. Are there kits? Are there garages who can make the change? Are there NG stations? Can there be? All new cars should be hybrid. We Must use gas and oil of our own as we transition. We need to keep the work going even if oil prices drop. We were fooled in the 70's, let's never do that again! Why must wind turbines be so ugly? There must be artist-engineers who can be let loose on this project so there is some chioce of design. The midwest loves beauty, too. Frankly they don't enhance the beautiful Hills between San Francisci and Sacramento, but they could! Also, you don't win people over with threats and anger as some in the green movement do. We need to create enthusiasm and freedom to succeed at our ask with pride and excitement and innovation,
Sincerely,
Lynn Silton

Hi Lynn. Natural gas is a transition fuel to the next generation combustible, hopefully hydrogen. There are vast national reserves of it that need to be tapped and a distribution system needs to be established so it's readily available on our roads and highways. It's now about $2.00-2.60 a gallon and it's much cleaner than gasoline or diesel. We need a combustible fuel because electric just doesn't have the power or endurance needed for long drives or heavy duty transportation. A hybrid that uses electric and NG power would be perfect for automobiles, it would give us the option to change fuels to keep the NG prices down should they rise dramatically. There are many companies in the supply end so I foresee more competition than we have with oil now. This is just my opinion of course. Regards, Fred DC

How about we do something about the 'long drives'? Like rail travel, instead of driving 500 miles take a train and rent a car at your destination.

Hi,
I have head that Israel is implementing an electric car system that is based on 'battery changing stations'. They think they can do it in 3 years. It allows electric cars to go as far as they want to go. I don't know about how heavy duty they can be.

There are plenty of companies that are ready to go for CNG. Just get the gorvernment out of the way so the market can be competitive.
The basic infrastructure is there. NG is piped to all the major cities and small towns. The Emanuel/Boren bill would have provided incentives but the senate voted it down.
T Boone is our lobbyist but he won't pay off the lawmakers so it goes....slowly.
Lets see what the new admin does.
CNG is todays game. Most other alternates are still mulling it over.

Hi Lynn. I am in your Picken's district and I have a couple ideas that may help the movement. I was wondering if you would be interested in meeting sometime to discuss how to move my ideas along. Part of the plan is to get Texas wind to California profitably. I would love to hear from anyone interested.

Patrick,
I'll put out a message about having a district 14 meeting. Perhaps we can get together on a letter writing campaign and get something done locally. There are some natural gas 'pumps' on Palo Alto City property as they have some trucks.
I'll get something out.
Thanks for writing,
Lynn

I would rather see wind turbines than oil rigs, it is a matter of taste. which is subjective. We have kits, we can make fueling stations easily, there are lots of things we CAN do, but don't. The market system has had decades to do it, but has not. In my opinion it is because it is not profitable enough. If we wait until it is hugely profitable it is too late, because the crisis is at hand, nothing is done over night and the rush would cause distortions in the market.. Many things we need to do are not wildly profitable, but need to be done and that is where the government by the people comes in.
