How Far Could $700 Billion Go to Produce An Alternative Energy Infrastructures?

We are about to let our Government bail out Gigantic Corporations for mismanagement of their assets. I heard one of the Senators just the other day talking about how Freddie Mac paid their Lobbyist over 100 Billion Dollar to get this Bail Out passed. Ask yourself where did that $100 Billion go? Now if Freddie Mac has that much money to shmooze Washington, why don’t they use it to fix their own internal problems? Then I heard that the CEO of Freddie Mac was going to get $3 Million in the Bail out package, that’s our Money he was going to get for screwing up. I guess his Country Club dues must have gotten increased so he needed the raise. Does anyone in here see that PRIORITIES are what is screwed up in this Country? We need to be Writing, Faxing, Emailing and Calling all our Political Reps and letting them know WE are done with the Nest Feathering for the Elite of this Country. We also need to make them aware that there is a Man Named T. Boone Pickens that has a plan to start putting Money back into our pockets instead of taking it out. They need to start listening instead of talking.

Either way if the Government put 700 Billion into the Alternative Energy Sector it would create huge amounts of Jobs creating its own stimulous to the Economy. Of course that means that wall street wouldn't get their hands on it until they see it in the Stock Prices increasing. That would be ok with me. What ever coarse is taken I would rather see the People of the United States Making the money instead of the few on Wall Street. We need Good Paying Jobs here In America that will stimulate our Economy.

Thank you very much for this post, Bruce. A very good post, indeed!

Think of how many renewable energy jobs that much money would generate and how much money it would save the USA. And, those who get paid from these jobs would be honest folk who take enough money home to feed and educate their families, not crooked Wall Street bankers who run banks into the ground and then buy multi million dollar townhomes in Manhattan or in Connecticut.

I wish there were a way of making your idea known to the whole country.

The unfortunate thing is that getting this info out shouldn't be the issue. Every American should be pinging their US Senators and Congressmen with tons on Emails, Faxes, Letters and Phone Calls til they have no choice but to listen. Its time we stop the unchecked happenings in Washington and let our Elected Officials know we are not going to Idley Stand by and let them sell this Country out from under us in backdoor politics. If you want to help send Emails explaining this point of view to all your email contacts and ask them to do the same with their contacts. It would be a great place to start.

You have to do it locally. The localler the better. Put solar panels on your own roof, even if you dont have funds for batteries. Put fluorescent fixtures in every ceiling in your house, and switch out the lightbulbs. Those overhead lights, attractive squarish ones with covers, cost about $35 at Home Depot, and ANYONE with the ability to shut off electric power and climb a ladder can installthem, but do it all at once and call a professional in for the hookup.
Living in AC area? Plant shade trees close to house, put up awnings, and install fans. Fans cost much less to run than AC, and I am not saying solar panels will be very effective for powering your water heater, stove, or AC. But they sure can supply your light, and power the stereo. Even if only in the daytime if you have no batteries.
Become part of the solution and you are much less part of the problem.
And gtting out a little ways, push local government to install or subsidize solar panels on school buildings and businesses ---alll used mostly in the daytime.

You have some great Ideas and I am always happy to hear from you. Your Common Sense would go a long way to helping the energy situation we are in. Im glad that your ideas are coming from someone who is living life, using Alternative Energy which make your Ideas mean a lot to me.
