After having watched the SNL skit on Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric, I was intrigued. After having watched the actual interview, I felt upset, with a little humor mixed in. Poor Sarah Palin got thrown to the wolves. Similar to when your girlfriend asks if she's got a big butt, Katie Couric asked loaded questions. The biggest mistake Sarah made was allowing the interview to continue.

Katie Couric: Sarah, could you give me one example of a vegetable that starts with the letter X?

Sarah Palin: Uh, gee, Katie, there's lots of 'em out there, all of 'em. You know, it's all about the American people.

Katie Couric gave more to Obama's campaign than Obama ever could, this late in the game.

I notice nobody is pointing out that Obama claimed he would capture and kill Osama Bin Laden. There is something politically incorrect in that statement. "So, Obama, will you use a knife or a gun?"

Here's how dumb Biden is...

I don't think "how does being governor of Alaska make you a foreign policy expert?" or "what publications do you read to keep abreast of current events? or "what other supreme court decisions besides Roe v. Wade do you disagree with?' qualify as loaded questions. They are simple, appropriate questions that she couldn't answer. Yet tonight she stands up in front of a live audience and looks out into a camera to speak to millions of people and sounds articulate and reasonable. Go figure.
let me let you in on something. leaders aren't taught they don't know everything expected of them by you. when john kennedy asked bobby to be attorney general he said i've never been attorney general johns answer was and i've never been president. there isn't any school called the the university of the president of the united states.
leaders are made. made in the heat of what's going on. they are responders but on the other hand they have to have vision. you never know until you get in the arerna. obama has stayed out of the arena so he is no sided[check his voting record just one word i can say present] leaders are people who can stand up and tell us when they've made mistakes and go on about their business to do their jobs. in the liberal psuedo american dream world that we have shoved down their throats politicians are put on a pedestal and that they are perfect. all of our best presidents made mistakes. all of our best people have made mistakes. we all made mistakes just some don't learn. today they try to hide their shortcomings on their decision instead of learning something from it. or oh if i don't do that i won't get reelected. why should they care they get full pay and benifits the rest of their lives. that leads me to believe it creates a struggle for personal power. if they were to get paid as usual whether his constituants didn't agree but he voted the best for the country and he doesn't get reelected he still did his job w/ dignity. the only thing that keeps these politicians going is power.[most of them] they have no monatary gain they can create. so what else could they be after. besides a free ticket for the rest of their lives. if that were the case they all would quit after 2 or 6 years. if the american public knew what failed politicians could get for failure in other parts of the world they might awake up. today in china if things were done to create a problem like we have today they would be executed. so there isn't some magic pill these people take that makes him qualified. remember this is america the place that when thomas edison failed on his first light bulb he didn't get taken behind the wood shed and shot, he just brushed off the dust and went back to the drawing board. boy would i like to see that america again.
Everyone does make mistakes, even our political leaders. The thing is we do expect our leaders to know certain things and we also expect them to handle themselves with dignity and not sound like a complete idiot when talking to reporters. Governor Palin couldn't answer simple, basic non-antagonistic questions like what newspapers and magazines she reads. Even if she couldn't call specific supreme court decisions by name, she could have talked about the decision that took prayer out of public schools, for example. Finally, I don't think anyone in their right mind actually believes that she is a foreign affairs expert because Alaska is next to Russia and Canada. The idea that she is the one sending air force planes up to shadow Russian planes that stray into US territory is ridiculous. That trade mission to Russia she cited as being evidence that she is having dealing with a foreign country, Tennessee sent a trade mission to Chine in 2006, but no one here claims Governor Bredeson is an expert on foreign affairs.

I, too, would like to see an America where people would take responsibilty for their own actions, where people would get a second chance for mistakes and where people would pick themselves up out of the dirt and get back to the drawing board.

It's funny that you brought up John Kennedy, though. I just wonder how his reputation would have faired in this age of media coverage? Not well, I would guess.
well she has to say as little as posible or the press will twist it around every way they can. typical liberal trait. create the conditions to get the desired results. it is also a little socialistic
That's a typical Republican cop out. There's no way to twist the fact that she couldn't name a single newspaper or magazine that she reads. There's no way to twist the fact that she couldn't think of a single supreme court case, other than Roe v. Wade that she disagreed with. Her answers were there for all to see. No twisting needed. Her answer to the question about being governor of Alaska and having foreign policy experience was just plain laughable. No twisting needed.

I'm no bleeding heart liberal who is out to nail any Republican who opens his or her mouth. I am a registered Republican who is more of an Independent because I like to think for myself and not drink the right wing kool-ade. I worked in local television for many years, so I am not fooled by news people and don't have a high opinion of the news business as a whole. I've seen the liberal leanings of many of the main stream media and I've also seen the conservative leanings of some media outlets. Wha I am is an average American who is stating the obvious, that Governor Palin embarassed herself in a simple, straightforward, non-biased interview with a member of the national press.

By the way, if you go back and look at the history of this country, you'll find that the media has never been what you would call "fair and balanced." In the days before radio and tv, newspapers were used by both sides to violently attack their opponents. There is nothing socialistic about it.
well said, Thank you from another independant that can see the obvious.
is this election going to be swayed by faux pas?
silly
It wouldn't be the first time, look at the 1976 debate between Carter and Ford.

Sadly, the truly silly thing here is the two candidates we have to choose between, and the parties they represent. That's not just silly, it is sad.
Excellent point Dave.
I'd give a left testicle to have seen a full blown hour of Palin and Obama going after it.

Limbaugh did a 'Greatest Obama Out Takes' on a 42 minute speech Obama gave. It seems that there were 8 FULL and continous minutes of unintelligible grunts, ahhs, uhhhs, hmmms, and various other non-nonsensical utterances from this speech. Without a tele-prompter, he is reduced to a chastened 6 year old reciting an unprepared "What I did this Summer" report to the class.

Well, we got him. Lets HOPE he can give a Hell Fire and Brimstone speech from the tele-prompter when Iran and Russia start to poke him in the backside.

BTW Does ANYONE know the amount of the SINGLE largest financial project EVER to be made IN THE WORLD? Answer: 40 Billion dollars

Who made it? Sarah Palin as Governor of Alaska

What was it for? An understanding to build a 48", 1700 mile natural gas pipeline to connect Alaska's Prudhoe Bay natural gas reserves to the lower 48 United States.

And SHE DID NOT ask the President OR the Congress of the United States what THEY thought about it. Now THAT is leadership.

The Deuceman
Excellent Duece! Thank you. Voices of reason like yours are quite re-assuring amongst some knee-jerkers on here.

Limbaugh and Hannity can't be taken at 100% of all the toss out there, but they sure can be fun eh?
