After having watched the SNL skit on Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric, I was intrigued. After having watched the actual interview, I felt upset, with a little humor mixed in. Poor Sarah Palin got thrown to the wolves. Similar to when your girlfriend asks if she's got a big butt, Katie Couric asked loaded questions. The biggest mistake Sarah made was allowing the interview to continue.

Katie Couric: Sarah, could you give me one example of a vegetable that starts with the letter X?

Sarah Palin: Uh, gee, Katie, there's lots of 'em out there, all of 'em. You know, it's all about the American people.

Katie Couric gave more to Obama's campaign than Obama ever could, this late in the game.

I notice nobody is pointing out that Obama claimed he would capture and kill Osama Bin Laden. There is something politically incorrect in that statement. "So, Obama, will you use a knife or a gun?"

And you are correct, of course. Lot of jealous wannabees in here...
Jealous wannabees??? Are you referring to me?? I would never want to be like Palin. She is what a lot of men stereotype women as being, Pretty and Dumb.
As far as the media targeting Palin, that may be true. She definately does not deserve the attention. The only reason any of us know her is that she is McCain's running mate. Before she was picked as a VP candidate, nobody but people from Alaska knew who she was. Couric is not to blame for Palin's failed interview. PALIN IS. How about her other interview?? I forgot who it was with, but it wasn't much better than the one with Couric. She still didn't answer important questions and still sounded incredibly stupid. Like I said before, she can't sit down one-on-one without sounding like a complete fool. The only time that she seems remotely intellegent (and I use the term loosely), is when someone writes her speech for her. As far as the debate, she did better than I are anyone else expected. However, It sounded scripted and very well rehearsed. It was like she was a pre-recorded machine. If you push this button, this is what you get; and if you push that button, that is what you get and so on. Even during the debate, there were questions that she wasn't able to answer. She tried to link everything in the first half of the debate back to energy; even the questions about the economy. I would really like to hear her OWN personal opinions, views, and beliefs. She needs to be able to think for herself. So far, I feel as if she is just saying what the McCain camp wants her to say. These are my own opinions and everybody has them. It doesn't make them wrong or right.

I don't think Palin is very bright. I think she is about "as sharp as a flat tennis ball." I am really scared at the thought of it. During the VP debate, she stated that she thought the VP should have more power. I don't think that she would be able to handle more power, if she ends up being the VP. God help us all if that were to happen. Do we really want someone like her being 2nd in charge of our nation or even worse President??

With the election getting closer each day, we as Americans have to decide who is the better person for the job. There are a lot of other issues besides energy to be focused on. I am not saying that energy isn't important, because it is. Just think about it before you vote. You need to go with the one that backs up your own families values, morals, and beliefs.
What are you doing in this army if you are not interested in keeping the focus on energy? McCain chose Palin because of what she has accomplished in Alaska and energy is a big part of that. He chose her because of her conservative accomplishments of cutting taxes on Alaskans, renegotiating contracts and leases with oil companies so that Alaskans share in the profits when the price of oil and natural gas goes up and get less revenue when it goes down. The bridge to nowhere.....the state would have to match the federal funds its congressional delegation "got for Alaska" so she supported using some of that money for higher priorities. It was actually on a libertarian blog over a year ago that I read about "the best looking Governor in America". What appeals to Americans is her common sense about budgeting, planning for the future, saving up to do something rather than borrowing, and using the line item veto..........something the next President needs to have. Neither party wants the President to have that because it is part of the power structure in Washington.....the leaders decide who gets committee assignments, who gets pork for their districts, etc as a way to keep them in line with their leadership....they even decide whose legislation gets a hearing and a vote. If a president could veto things dropped into bills which don't have anything to do with improving the legislation, it would really shake up Washington like Palin shook up Alaska. Many things dropped into the bailout bill will help the economy but a lot was added even after it was voted on by staff. The most outrageous thing was billions of dollars to ACORN, Obama's community organizers who are being investigated in 10 states for voter fraud and the organization admits to the fraud but says since they pay their people by the number of registered voters they sign up or take to vote, that they have no control over fraud!!!!!! That ACORN loses money when they have to pay for fraudulant registrations and votes!!!! In the long run, McCain may lose some conservatives for finally supporting the bailout, but the bill loaded with pork was a better bill than the first bill because of the protections it offered to the taxpayers over time and the extensions of some renewable energy credits, fixing the AMT and getting the ban on drilling lifted so that states that want to drill for oil and natural gas can get the jobs and the income for their communities to improve their infrastructure and schools. Finally, if McCain is elected, he will choose the best people he can get to fill all of his cabinet posts, and it will be a bipartisan mix to set the tone for the next congress that Energy, Education, Climate Change and National Security are priorities and all of this would be in place if Palin were to have to step in. She is a good listener, a quick study and a good communicator and will be an asset to McCain if he is elected. The Couric interview was minor compared to the challenges she has faced this year with the press and tabloids. As Joe Biden said, his grandfather always told him it was all right to fail if you get back up again. Palin is strong, a good sport, and excited about going to Washington and making a difference and such a breath of fresh air after watching all the CEO's not taking responsibility for their roles in this crisis facing our global financial system.
Very true Christiane, thank you.
I don't necessary think Palin is Dumb, she is just an "Airhead." She did do better in the debate than I or alot of Americans expected. However, she failed to answer several questions. In the beginning, she tried to tie everything to energy independence. Drill, drill, drill. That is not the answer to energy independence. Wind, solar, CNG, ect.; are the answers to it. I cannot get on board with the Nuclear Power. I just don't think that they can dispose of the wastes safely. During the foreign policy part of the debate, Biden blew her away. She simply doesn't have the experience. All I could hear was that McCain would do more of the same(Bush Administration). We need a change. We also definately need to be concerned with Afghanistan and Pakistan.. We do need to send them more money and troops. I am all for bringing our troops home, but that needs to be taken care of first.

Do we really want to have someone with our experience and intellegence to be 2nd in charge of our great nation?? Do we want more of the same(Bush Adminitstration)??
yea and when is the last time you had a plain crash into your town or a dirty bomb go off on our soil. people need to wake up and see what's really going on in this world and that unless you do a lot of digging you are
only going to hear what they want you to hear
No more of the same! On top of being an airhead, Palin is not from "around here". Alaska is so far removed from the continental US that she almost seems foreign. Palin reminds me of Bush in so many ways even the way she pronounces the word "nuclear" ("nuke-you-lar") I shudder. I think she should stay in Alaska and go give her special needs baby some special attention as he needs her more than America does. I think if we miss the chance to put 2 progressive-minded, intelligent men like Biden and Obama we have a much better chance to see some real change in America. One bonus will be that we can reclaim our status in the world which we have lost.
I agree with you Beth. She needs to take care of her baby and get ready for her Grandbaby. Her daughter will need lots of help with her baby. She has no business being a "heartbeat" away from the presidency. She cannot even sit down and talk to someone without being dumb (Katie Couric). Even during the debate, she sounded like she was reading from a script. That is, the questions that she answered. I am scared to think that she might be the Vice President or worse even President.
Yea, it's sad that the baby is not getting the opportunity to bond with his mother at the most crucial point of his life. How can she justify putting country first before her special needs child? Instead she stands at the podium bashing Barack. How can that be more important? Hey, whatever happened to the "fiance" that was supposed to marry her pregnant daughter "right away"? I "betcha" they think we forgot about that claim.
Sorry, Beth, I don't mean to pick on you, but you touched on something that even my own liberal relatives have been bashing Palin with, and I just want to point out that if Hillary Clinton had just given birth to a special needs baby (OK, plenty of people will argue that she would have never given birth to a special needs baby, would have had an abortion--I think it rude to assume such a thing about someone), would anyone be telling her to stay home with her baby?

Regarding Energy:
If by "progressive-minded" you mean liberal, I could not agree with you more. But let them into the White House? I disagree vehemently! Politics aside, Obama and (O)Biden, still do not have the right experience to take on our energy concerns. Obama has zero experience with energy issues, and endorses a lame, watered-down version of what other politicians are advocating. For Obama, American energy seems to have been an afterthought.
I'm sorry, but I have to butt in. Sorry, Beth, I am not trying to answer for you. Christiane's responce really bugged me.

I would hope that Hillary Clinton would stay at home, if she had a special needs child. She is more intellegent that Palin could ever be in her dreams. Hillary probably would never consider running if she had a special needs child. And yes, I would tell her to stay home with her child. However, Palin also has a grandchild on the way. Her daughter is really going to need her mother's help. That is double the reasons why Palin should stay at home.

I have a healthy 20 month old and I am a stay at home mom. He requires a lot of my time. I can barely imagine how much time and bonding that a special needs child would require. It simply is not fair for the child. He needs so much from his mother; and being in the White House would take away from that. The first few years are the most crutial in a child developmental stages, even in a healthy child. I would think even more so in a special needs child.

We as Americans, need a change. With McCain, there will be more of the same. As for an afterthought, I think that we could all agree that this issue has been a concern for all Americans. Obama's policies are, in my opinion, better than McCain's. All he wants to do is drill, drill, drill. That is not the answer. As far as nuclear, I have to agree with Obama. There has got to be a safe way to dispose of the wastes before we can go there. I personally do not want a nuclear plant in my backyard and be exposed to that. We need to go solar, wind, cng, clean coal, etc. There are a lot of changes we can do for energy (safe energy that is). I live in west Texas and ther are literally thousands of wind turbines here and more going up though out the state. Why do we have to go nuclear?? As for drilling, it just increases the existing problems. We need cleaner forms of energy.

Once again, sorry Beth. I wasn't trying to steal your thunder. I know that Christiane was adressing you, but her comment really struck a nerve with me. Sorry.
