PickensPlan

What can I do for this effort, I am in sales, sooooo........How can we promote the idea? How can we get the word out to America? What can we do to get people involved? Here is my idea, and I want to hear yours! We must get Americans on board, how do we do that?......this is my brainstorm:
TShirts - I have some cool ideas for this!!! A windmill on the front with "Think Windmills"
Golf Shirts with Pickens Plan Logo
Bumper Stickers
pens
Decaled vehicals (ones using natural gas would be great!) Buses, trains, cars, etc..
Good old fashioned buttons
Plastic cups and Kuzies
Celebrity Endorsements (is Bono busy? lol)
Contact companies to get them on board, we could be added to their advertising
TV spots and interviews - Discovery Channel, National Geographic, 60 minutes, 20/20 (taking what Pickens is doing with news organizations one step further)
Connect with schools to get younger generation involved (Tshirt idea on book bags)
mailing campaign
give a dollar campaign
Lottery to raise money - lots of money is raised and someone has a chance to win some
email every person in your address book with link
Flags for homes and cars
Get a sporting team involved (Jeff Gordon or Earnhart Jr would be great lol - then we could put the decals on their cars!!)
Billboards

We will need money to fund this, we will need donation of services, donation of goods.....I have found that if a company believes in an idea, they will donate in some form. If any of our members have contacts in any of these areas, let's hear it, call the contact. If you have an idea please post it! Thanks! Sam Fleet

You've got some good ideas there. Pickens has this site put together to get people with ideas to promote this thing. He's spending millions on advertizements. What you are proposing is line what he is already doing and if there is some way for you to contact him (there probably is a way on this site) I'd get with him. The cost of doing what you are proposing would be chump change to what he is spending on his advertizements. And it would probably even generate some money which could be used to pay for more promotions in the media.
Sam-this is an awesome idea. I have adopted a saying that has been getting some very good feed back. I think this will also get people more hip to the whole movement. Anyway, this is my saying:

"HAVE A WINDY DAY!"

Regards,

George Martinez

And please "HAVE A WINDY DAY!"

Hook 'Em Horns, have a windy Day!
I think it might be ebetter to have a shorter slogan, like WINDBORN on a shirt, with a wind generator pictured simply and clearly. On the reverse side of the shirt you might have a sun, and a rack of solar panels, and say SUNSTRUCK loud and clear/
I ahve been in PR for forty years myself.

Go to the forum discussion I started here, SOLAR POWER IS HERE.....USE IT! for ideas from me and the commentors.. A phone number on the shirt that goes to a cheap message phone number (in any state---long distance calls dont cost anything any more) ethat gives basic information. Or to an informative website of course would be more informative, but then dont forget that there aree folks with no computer still hanging around sharing our air.....lol
How about "Winding our energy independance"
I'd like to create some cool 30 to 60 second spots. something provacative or funny. Nothing that is preachy but something more entertaining in order to create some buzz. We gotta stir things up!! Knock the wind out of people. Put the heat on. Sorry for the bad puns, but we need to get people excited. I'd love to produce a spot. Does anyone know who I could contact?
Monique,
Do it yourself! YouTube is a GREAT place to showcase spots like that. Perhaps T. Boone should create a contest for the best monthly / weekly upload :-) If you have any access to production equipment, give it a GO!
All the above plus get everyone you know to join and get all their friends and family to join etc, etc.
Get organized in state groups and phone and email all the state and federal office holders and tell them to get on board the plan or we kick them out of office.
Spread the word, this is going to be huge.
Over 5800 Members a day = over 2 million a year at this rate.
It should increase I hope.
Great ideas, got another one
"I am power hungry, are you?"
also, I am thinking about promotional events that are fun and family friendly.....we can do these on local levels. Keep the ideas coming and thanks for replies!
Blow away the oil blues
Better yet....

Blow Away Dependency
How about getting other corporate sponsors who are also interested in the Picken's plan like maybe Starbucks or McDonald's or IKEA or Home Depot or Lowes??? All of America would be exposed to the Picken's message through these great mass market venues reminding and encouraging people daily about the need to get on the alternative energy bandwagon for both national security reasons and to put real money in their pocket as a result of the cost-savings that these new energy sources will provide to everyone. Plus, alternative energy will provide a proliferation of new jobs and help us out of our economic funk and pessimistic job security outlook.

For Home Depot and Lowes this could be a very lucrative marketing tactic as they would be in-line to sell more solar units and possibly small-scale residential wind turbines to the general public, thus boosting their bottom lines and helping them get out of their slump as a result of the housing crisis.
