PickensPlan

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right?

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right? Then reneged on his $1 Million dollar wager (twice) that nothing in the swift boat ads could be proven false, right? Yes, he's one and the same.

This is also the Pickens that has contributed more than $5 Million in campaign and political contributions to Gee Dubya and his neo-conservative cronies, the very ones that have polarized the country, told us we were invading Iraq because of non-existent WMDs etc. etc.

And now it turns out that it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

And here we have Slim Pickens telling us we all have to "get on the same page" and "be on the same team" and "elect the right leadership". I wonder if the Pickster thinks any of those "right" leaders ought to be Democrats?

Let's face it. I don't care how wealthy a mogul this guy is, he has absolutely zero credibility if you read his bio. Go ahead and read his Wikipedia bio with an unbiased eye, then tell me you trust this guy to tell us how to save the country. This guy trying to unify America is like Attila the Hun trying to unify Asia and Western Europe.

Sure Bush sucks (and I voted for him twice due to no other options), but most of what you mentioned had nothing to do with him. The poor lending practices have been going on for longer than 8 years. The cost of oil has always ebbed and flowed. Exxon made $18 Billion in 2007. But in the first 4 months of 2008 placed orders for $21 Billion in R&D and exploration. Hard for me to really be too upset when their profits are going back into the business.

This current energy problem is the result of the US never having had a real energy policy. It isn't about a single President. At present, Obama appears to be in the pocket of the ethanol group as much as Bush is in the pocket of big oil. McCain has no real allegiance but he's clueless when it comes to energy in America.
Oh no! Why actually do something about the problem when we can argue about politics? Get your head out of the sand. Kerry offers no solution to this problem. How can you make him a benchmark? Why do you want to be so picayune when we are facing a huge disaster?
Let's take a vote.

If you think Tom is an idiot, say 'yeah'.

YEAH!
Actually, Pickens paved the way for Obama... if Kerry had won, we'd be on the cusp of a 2nd Kerry term... ugggh.... or the GOP getting back in office

Plus as others have said, who cares where the solution comes from as long as it is a good one... plus Pickens is clear... this Natural Gas plan is a bridge as is others until we can develop better, greener and more sustainable DOMESTIC resources as opposed to sending all of our capital to MiddleEastern Sheiks and mullahs... sc**w them.
"Sure Bush sucks (and I voted for him twice due to no other options), but most of what you mentioned had nothing to do with him."

Bunk.

Before Bush, the Federal budget was balanced, there was no war in Iraq, there was no record deficit (there was a budget surplus), the stock market was making record highs day after day, there was no recession, and the poor lending practices started about 2001 after Bush took office when mortgage loan interest rates bottomed out (I know, because I refinanced my house at 4.5% fixed in 2001 at the bottom).

So you're full of BUNK!
And what is your energy plan?
"Actually, Pickens paved the way for Obama... if Kerry had won, we'd be on the cusp of a 2nd Kerry term... ugggh.... or the GOP getting back in office"

Excellent point. If it weren't for the neocons screwing up the entire country, they wouldn't be thought of as a bunch of marginalized halfwits today! I guess we can thank them for being such dolts and imbeciles. Call it "Social Darwinism" (or "the stupid will be punished"!)
Actually, Eric, when Bush took office, we WERE in recession. The stock market WAS crashing due to the great stock market robbery of the late '90s, the problems in the loan departments started at least as early as the 1930s. As for the projected surplus, it never happened until Republicans took congress over in '95 and with it, the nations checkbook. klinton NEVER produced a balanced budget, and not one of his budgets were used from '95 forward. Congress rejected them, wrote their own and sent them to klinton who promptly signed them and took credit for the projected surplus they produced.
it's so refreshing that the conversations here are on topic.

yes my guns are safe, my children all made it full term without being murdered

i love mom, apple pie, baseball, and cover my heart when the national anthem is played.

i voted for dub, twice, his dad twice, reagan twice, ford once

i listen to rush, sean, and savage.

i know for certain the temperature goes up and down and logic tells me man has very little if any input on the global thermostat.

i made a wonderful living while working at the 4 largest (non state owned) oil company in the world.

i was paying about $1.70/gal less when the republicans had control of congress.

i don't hate rich people and don't want them punished with higher taxes.

i like the idea of solar and wind power and think carbon credits are foolish

i think it's ok for someone that supports the GOP to spend his own money for wind power (and make a profit doing so)

katrina was an act of God, not GWB

new orleans was let down by their local and state govts not GWB - first responders are local, not federal

i don't think tom (or anybody else posting) is an idiot but feel that some of you have neighbors that live very close to some...

what do i think about wmd's in iraq - http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080706/D91O8E100.html

now, back to the idea of alternate energy.

i think this idea of t. boone pickens just might work....

The Marvelous Chicken-Powered Car
Harold Bate, chicken farmer and inventor from Devonshire, England says that you can power your motor vehicle with droppings from chickens, pigs or any other animal of your choice ... even with your own waste! To prove his statement is no idle boast, Harold has been operating a 1953 Hillman and a five-ton truck on methane gas generated by decomposing pig and chicken manure for years.

He claims that the equivalent of a gallon of high-test gasoline costs him only about 3 cents and that the low-cost methane makes his vehicles run faster, cleaner and better than they operate on "store bought" fuel. Mr. Bate stands beside his famous Hillman in the photo above.
RD Davis, that is the biggest load of bunk I have read on the internet in a long time.
So what is your plan????????????
