Eric

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right?

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right? Then reneged on his $1 Million dollar wager (twice) that nothing in the swift boat ads could be proven false, right? Yes, he's one and the same.

This is also the Pickens that has contributed more than $5 Million in campaign and political contributions to Gee Dubya and his neo-conservative cronies, the very ones that have polarized the country, told us we were invading Iraq because of non-existent WMDs etc. etc.

And now it turns out that it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

And here we have Slim Pickens telling us we all have to "get on the same page" and "be on the same team" and "elect the right leadership". I wonder if the Pickster thinks any of those "right" leaders ought to be Democrats?

Let's face it. I don't care how wealthy a mogul this guy is, he has absolutely zero credibility if you read his bio. Go ahead and read his Wikipedia bio with an unbiased eye, then tell me you trust this guy to tell us how to save the country. This guy trying to unify America is like Attila the Hun trying to unify Asia and Western Europe.

Times of crisis and extreme problems tend to bring together diverse groups and individuals. I am willing to step over this for the betterment of the country. This falls in line with wishes from nearly every group. We can fight later over other issues. Lets bind together and put differences aside for a solution to this problem.

What does John Kerry and Swiftboating have to do with alternative energy?

Nothing.

i love how people in these threads decide where the conversation is supposed to go...and they get angry when people start talking about what they don;' want to talk about. i find it entertaining.
dude, the guy who started the Thread was the one who titled it something about Kerry and Swiftboats.

And I also love how just because people talk in these Threads, and they don't like it, that they start slamming people to "go do something" or "be productive"...as if we are supposed to go out and sole the energy crisis. I'm just a guy who works for an automotive supplier from 8-5, interested in reading and learning about this issue...and having some debates and conversation on it.

Ignore this particular thread if you don't like the banter.

"Eric: I read your Wikipedia feedback. FIrst, I always have to laugh at how people think that because it's in Wikipedia, it MUST be true. But that's beside the point."

So first you insinuate that a credible source is somehow errant, even though you offer not a shred of evidence to support the notion:

"But what you really proved to me is that what I said was correct. The facts reported about Kerry in the Swiftboat ads were never shown to be false."

Then you refuse to acknowledge that the only reason this is so is because Mr. Pickens has categorically REFUSED to debate and stand behind his position in a public forum. He has declared himself sole arbiter of the bet. Its as if he has stated that the sky is florescent pink, and he'll give you a million dollars if you can prove him wrong. But he gets to decide if you have proven him wrong, and hence, you lose no matter what your argument may be.

So using that logic, I'll give you a million dollars if you can prove Wikipedia is ever wrong. But I get to decide if you've proven it or not!

"I have learned that this is how liberals debate. They dance around the exact specifics of a question, will ridicule and insult someone, or try to discredit them....or my favorite is how they laugh with great condescension at how stupid the other person must be.....but they never get to the actual point being debated."

And neocons lie, obfuscate, discredit the source, purport one logical fallacy after another, and then call their opponents names, denigrate them, and use every nasty tactic they can muster.

Hardly a debate.

"What does John Kerry and Swiftboating have to do with alternative energy?"

It goes towards the credibility of the individual putting forth the particular plan in question. Or the lack of credibility thereof.

I dont understand....Wikipedia stated that Kerry never actually disputed the ad. Then Wikipedia wrote a lot of banter about the 2 of them going back and forth, but in the end, he never showed it to be false. And then Wikipedia refers to some Vietnam Vets that tried to show the ads to be false, but TBP reviewed the ads against their 12-page letter, and determined that they did not specifically address the points in the ads (which does not surprise me because this is how libs think).

As far as Wikipedia, all I meant was it is just another Internet tool, where any information can be posted to it. There is no integrity check...I have read a bit about it awhile back, but to be honest, I do not recall the specific details. I just remember that it was pointed out to be careful about Wikipedia.....it can be just as biased as anything else on the Internet.

That's why I always try and find several sources on everything....and believe it or not, even though I am a conservative, I purposely try to search for information with the liberal slant in the Search text as well. I want to see both sides of a story, then use my own common sense to draw my conclusion. And in the end, having done that....I end up being a conervative.

I have tried to get some of my liberal friends at work to do similar. I read what they send to me, then I send them something.....I ask them if they read it....and 100% of the time, they always have to come back with a "No".

That is how I have come to draw my conclusions about liberals.

"P.S. Has anyone see his hot wife !! Not bad for an 80-year old guy !!"

Well let's face it. Women have makeup to make them look better, and men have money. Pickens has lots of money, so I'm sure there are lots of prostitutes out there for him...

Well,
This all well and true.
The problem is what choice do we have?
We need to start on many fronts, this is the only war on oil that I am aware of.
Do you have any plan to end our back door policy of funding terrorist?
We have to start somewhere, this may work, may not,we must at least try!
And please, this is not a political forum........
