PickensPlan

Eric

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right?

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right? Then reneged on his $1 Million dollar wager (twice) that nothing in the swift boat ads could be proven false, right? Yes, he's one and the same.

This is also the Pickens that has contributed more than $5 Million in campaign and political contributions to Gee Dubya and his neo-conservative cronies, the very ones that have polarized the country, told us we were invading Iraq because of non-existent WMDs etc. etc.

And now it turns out that it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

And here we have Slim Pickens telling us we all have to "get on the same page" and "be on the same team" and "elect the right leadership". I wonder if the Pickster thinks any of those "right" leaders ought to be Democrats?

Let's face it. I don't care how wealthy a mogul this guy is, he has absolutely zero credibility if you read his bio. Go ahead and read his Wikipedia bio with an unbiased eye, then tell me you trust this guy to tell us how to save the country. This guy trying to unify America is like Attila the Hun trying to unify Asia and Western Europe.

I'm a Democrat. This plan is not about the swiftboat, it's about alternative energy sources. And he's not asking you to vote for him.
His ideas are "Better" than being dependent on 'foreign oil' Our dependence on this oil is not only hurting our wallets, it is making this country more vulnerable. We shouldn't be dependent on them. If this country can put a man on the moon, send a spacecraft to Mars to collect dirt samples and then one to circle around one of Jupiters moons. I'm sure WE have the technology and means to become self reliant on energy and fuel.

You do realize that Wikipedia is a free site that any individual with access to the internet can add or delete information from right? So this is not always the best source of information.

The only person I won't trust is you - because You don't have a Plan and You have nothing useful to say. If you can't figure out what $700 billion outflow from the US has brought us to in the present, and that is only oil and no one is talking about the sucking sound of $$ going to China, then you hopelessly won't be able to figure out what will be the result of continuing to do nothing 10 years from now. If YOU don't like Pickens Plan then start your own plan and bring it to the poeple for approval. Pickens may not be perfect but he is light years ahead of the two idiots running for President and the 700 other current elected Federal government officials some of whom you probably helped put into office.

Kudos Shannon...I couldn't have said it better. Drop the negativity so we can get somewhere!

Your claim is a typical Republican hypocritical response. "..ridicule and insult someone.." is exactly what the Swiftboat attacks were, and here you are claiming the Dems are doing it.

Better stick to energy....

Eric: I read your Wikipedia feedback. FIrst, I always have to laugh at how people think that because it's in Wikipedia, it MUST be true. But that's beside the point.

But what you really proved to me is that what I said was correct. The facts reported about Kerry in the Swiftboat ads were never shown to be false.

I have learned that this is how liberals debate. They dance around the exact specifics of a question, will ridicule and insult someone, or try to discredit them....or my favorite is how they laugh with great condescension at how stupid the other person must be.....but they never get to the actual point being debated.

And what do you plan to do just belittle someone cause he has a plan and you obviously don't. Stop typing and get out and do something.

Does anybody know where Lee Iococca stands on the Pickens Plan? Lee was recently crying out for real leadership to help solve our nations most pressing problems. Boone is just that, a born leader and seemingly a 'boon' to our country's current energy crisis. Thanks for reading...

Yep the Swiftboat episode pretty much excludes his credibility in my view. I wondered whether more people would mention this, especially on his own site, which has nothing to do with energy policy per se, except that it should be mentioned that this country has no energy policy, nor has it through the last several administrations, ending somewhere around Carter's time.

Tom, wherever you are, seems to me you might be more comfortable on Newt Gingrich's site or rubbing some shoulders with Rush. Swiftboat never disproved?

Look up some terminology, since you are a self-proclaimed smart guy: try "selective exposure" and "selective perception." Get back to us when you've had your fill.

At the very least, turn off your computer and quickly plug into Fox to get your IV fix lest someone should make you think, even a little bit. You come off as a pathetic jerk, but who knows, you might be worse!

For anyone who was around in the 70s, it was clear Kerry was a liar and a coward back then. The swift boating was simply true. All it did was update what a rational person always saw in Kerry! He was always a politician. Because he could not be a hero, he decided to be anti-war for political gain.

Kerry never refuted an essential fact. He got what he had coming. It is too bad Hanoi Jane, Bill Ayers and some of the other anti-war opportunists did not get theirs.

Were you there in Vietnam? You know?

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/25/t-boone-pickens-says-...

It was a tactical error on the part of the Kerry campaign not to refute the ads. He could have addressed them and would have had to spend time defending his military career. His staff didn't realize how much those ads they would be viewed and taken to heart.

From the article above:

A group of Swift boat veterans sympathetic to Mr. Kerry sent Mr. Pickens a letter last week taking him up on the challenge. In 12 pages, plus a 42-page attachment of military records and other documents, they identified not just one but ten lies in the group’s campaign against Mr. Kerry.

Debra, I'll check this out. Of the 26 charges of the Swiftboaters, Pickens and Corsi, against Kerry, only 2 have been 'dis-credited' but not disproven.

NBC news, before Tim Russert died, did an investigation that still had follow-up right until 5/2008, yes, this year

They could not disprove any charge, but did reinforce the term "discredited" to two of them. I'd be very wary of your source as not a liberal attempt to clean Kerry's record up a bit.

And according to the US Army, Kerry's records, to this day, have never been un-sealed, which requires Kerry's signed authorization, to open his file to and try to disprove any of the charges.

Hate or dislike Pickens all you want for it, maybe you're even right, but I'd be wary, your foundations for claims are suspect here.
