Eric

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right?

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right? Then reneged on his $1 Million dollar wager (twice) that nothing in the swift boat ads could be proven false, right? Yes, he's one and the same.

This is also the Pickens that has contributed more than $5 Million in campaign and political contributions to Gee Dubya and his neo-conservative cronies, the very ones that have polarized the country, told us we were invading Iraq because of non-existent WMDs etc. etc.

And now it turns out that it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

And here we have Slim Pickens telling us we all have to "get on the same page" and "be on the same team" and "elect the right leadership". I wonder if the Pickster thinks any of those "right" leaders ought to be Democrats?

Let's face it. I don't care how wealthy a mogul this guy is, he has absolutely zero credibility if you read his bio. Go ahead and read his Wikipedia bio with an unbiased eye, then tell me you trust this guy to tell us how to save the country. This guy trying to unify America is like Attila the Hun trying to unify Asia and Western Europe.

At least he's putting his money where is his mouth is. Go ahead, throw the first stone. Kerry sucked anyway, and so does Bush. We need this done by the legislative branch of government. Presidents can't be trusted.

Have to agree with you on the Swift Boat stunt. I'm a Viet Nam vet who has a lot of respect for Kerry and Gore. I have none for Bush, Cheney, Limbaugh, and the other Chicken Hawks.

Mr. Pickens is doing our country a lot of good this time. Fossil fuels are on the way out and nuclear has made no progress in reprocessing and disposal, to speak of. I'm an old Environmental Engineer who hopes that Mr. Pickens will get the feds off of their lobbyist-greased butts and get them moving toward a major governmental effort toward revamping our grid system, at the minimum. Taxpayers have subsidized oil for a 100 years, now it's time to change to the future energy sources.

Do you have a better idea on the subject? I think not, so when you do please feel free to write back in.

Don't you think it is time for someone to step up to the plate and try and solve this global crisis? Someone that has the United States best interest ine mind? I am a democrat but his plan sounds like a winner! I give him credit for stepping forward as a voice of solution! Not a voice of accusal or just another analyst! This plan has major potential. It's a first step!.....................Scott

Wikipedia is known to be a leftist influenced online "encyclopedia." I do not condone the Swift Boat action that he was a part of, but even a conservative Republican can change and see the writing on the wall. I voted for Kerry. To reject a very good, common sense plan out of a need for vengeance is wrong-headed.

if anyone is truley intrested to see if this idea is plausable lets debate the idea and not our , political views this can work if people think it can we went the moon and some people still think it was a fraud. so not all people will see it but those who do can make it happen.

ah, the mindless banter of a lib.....let's pull together...let's get something done....let's all hope for change....cuz change is good....bush is evil....america sucks....by the way, everyone that disagrees with me needs to stop fighting.....let's be civil......if you believe in hope, and you hope that barack obama can change things, then vote for hope, vote for barack. if you hate the past, let's put our hope in the future. let's hope that everyone votes for change

Glenn: when 2 people differ on how to solve a problem, but both know the problem needs to be solved, what do you suggest ? and if one way you believe is dead wrong, and the other you believe is right....what do you suggest.....there is no compromise....there is no room to "work together"....and compromise to a lib means giving in to their idea, and if you don't, you are evil.

and also remember that our forefathers fought from Day One. They argued vehemently about which direction to take the country. fighting for what you believe in is not bad.

Well Good evening, if you hate Pickens so much, why are you here? it is going to take SOMEONE to start this ball rolling. With the Dems so seated in their ways and carrying a 9% approval rating and George hiding away in LaLa land. Someone is going to have to get the conversation of the masses started.

Sounds like as good a place to start as any.

Keep up the dialogue, but, remember, WE THE PEOPLE shouldn't be screaming at each other. There are enough politicians to go around. Start SCREAMING at THEM. They are one of the biggest reasons WE THE PEOPLE are in trouble right now.

Wow, thanks Eric. I had forgot. I heard about his effort on an NPR Morning Edition segment. Kerry is my Senator and I have the HIGHEST respect for not only for his political service, but his military service as well. If he was elected instead of Bush in 04 there is no doubt in my mind we would be on a faster path towards energy independence and environmental protection. How many times has John McBush flip-flopped on such issues as offshore drilling already?

Typical Demo response--do nothing and bitch! Mr. Pickens is a honorable citizen that believes in getting involved to solve problems, unlike many others who only complain. I have two grandsons who attend OSU in Stillwater and if you want to know if he is a man of his word, just visit that campus.
