Eric

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right?

This is the same Pickens that Swiftboated John Kerry, right? Then reneged on his $1 Million dollar wager (twice) that nothing in the swift boat ads could be proven false, right? Yes, he's one and the same.

This is also the Pickens that has contributed more than $5 Million in campaign and political contributions to Gee Dubya and his neo-conservative cronies, the very ones that have polarized the country, told us we were invading Iraq because of non-existent WMDs etc. etc.

And now it turns out that it is ALL ABOUT THE OIL.

And here we have Slim Pickens telling us we all have to "get on the same page" and "be on the same team" and "elect the right leadership". I wonder if the Pickster thinks any of those "right" leaders ought to be Democrats?

Let's face it. I don't care how wealthy a mogul this guy is, he has absolutely zero credibility if you read his bio. Go ahead and read his Wikipedia bio with an unbiased eye, then tell me you trust this guy to tell us how to save the country. This guy trying to unify America is like Attila the Hun trying to unify Asia and Western Europe.

Well, well, well.

How interesting! Party 1 makes a claim (and a bet) that they told the truth in a TV ad series. Party 2 claims they lied and wants a public forum to prove themselves and claim the 1 million. Party 1 explains the types of records needed to make the "counter-argument" stick and the need for a 1 million dollar stake of their own if they are wrong. Party 2 claims Party 1 is renigging on the offer. and so on.... If you ask me, they were just jockeying for public attention....

If Party 2 is REALLY so interested in revealing the truth - methinks they would do so without a 1 million dollar offer waved in their faces, without requiring that the person making the reputedly false claims meets their criteria fore revealing their sources and details, AND they would have NO PROBLEM coughing up their own one million.

And, since then, Party 2 has NOT revealed the proofs they have to the public. Why not publish the sources and details on Wikipedia if it's all so clear cut and open?

Oh, and one more interesting analysis. The public does NOT care any longer. John Kerry is a has been polictically dead for more reasons than his "Swiftboat" involvements. Next!

You people disgust me. Who the hell cares about this!!! It's this type of bickering that has gotten us here in the first place. There are politicians on both sides of the aisle that are crap. Eric you rag on Republicans, but it is the Democratic senate that has a 9% approval rating. The lowest approval rating in our nation’s history. They need to take just as much responsibility for this mess. I for one am just glad that someone has come up with such a great plan to get us out of this mess. I don't care who the hell it comes from. I am sick of spending this much money on gas, my family can't afford it much longer.

John Kerry is pretty useless as far as I am concerned. He hasn't accomplished squat while spending 20 years in the Senate. And he has yet to release his medical records from his military period....despite saying he would. So what is he hiding.....?
I am better apt to support someone who is going to take action on this issue and others rather than like congress just sit around and talk and talk and talk about it til we see this country collapse.
He is also pro illegal Immigrant to the detriment of American citizens. He is really good at marrying meal tickets and traded his first wife for the second richer wife. He is an eltiist snob , and a phony. It is easy to understand why the Vietnam soldiers returning from war to disgrace hated him. He threw them under the bus to further his own sorry career.

Can we forget about politics and focus on the energy plan? This is exactly why there is a good chance this idea will never get off the ground. Too much partisan bickering and not enough action. I agree that Mr. Pickens favors republicans, however I find it inspiring that ANYONE is trying to find a solution to skyrocketing energy costs.

You should watch the CNN interview with Boone Pickens today. Some of your comments are not accurate. By the way, are you a billionaire? He's got $$$ because he's smart and has solid business sense. I wish he were running for President. And I'm NOT an OSU fan.

No Tom, I'm not a liberal... but you are an idiot!

he did not say anything about electing the right leadership.....he said it would take the right leadership.....dont you think drilling our own oil would be a good idea?? You do realize that the people in charge of all of the foreign oil hate our country and want to see us crumble?? Have you ever been to the middle east??? Why do you think so many of them come over here?? There is a religion over there that is based on hate man....they want to see us die and we keep sending them billions every year. It is a very bad situation that we are in and I am glad to see someone dump their own money into trying to wake us all up......although he does stand to make another fortune if wind energy does become a major player.

Yes, he is an ass, but I don't care if he's the Devil incarnate - in this case, the ends do justify the means. If he makes another billion by shamelessly trying to corner the market in wind generators and otherwise worthless plains land leases, I could care less as long as it takes us further away from burning hydrocarbons.

I too am a liberal Democrat and this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but for this effort I say: more power to him!

Ha, ha! That 9% approval rating is because the Republicans jam-up everything. 8 years of very poor GOP leadership has driven our country into crisis. Face it!

Mr. Pickens is being very apolitical and trying to move our country forward. Our government is doing nothing productive and it will take a man of Mr. Picken's statue to start a grass roots movement that will rapidly address our energy needs. Oil drilling and nuc's are not a good panacea.

Funny how the demons of our past always seem to haunt us. The republicans have tried to drill oil in Alaska and off the Florida coast for decades, the Dems say no. Now oil is $138.00+ per barrel. Nancy Pelosi and her stooge Harry Reed said "elect us and we will fix gas prices" well fixed they are...$3.99 per gallon here today. (another haunting demon). Next demon, Dick Cheney, big oil exec, given a 38 million dollar bonus for a job well done, so he could go be VP. The election of those 3 proves without a doubt that Americans are stupid. Ignoring this plan would be "even stupider" (yes I know its not a word). People wake up!!!!!!! This is a plan, a good one. You got better, lets here it. Put up or shut up! Pelosi and Reed said they had a plan, not one word of it yet. Pickens not only has a plan, but it includes room for other great ideas. To the guy that said what about solar, yes, put solar to work. Yes to more nukes. Yes to more hydro. What we need is a smart place to start that has quick returns on our energy needs. We can all give great ideas, this guy has the money and where with all to put it to work. If we all get onboard a little bit, A HUGE difference it will make. T. Boone, Brilliant!!!! Now can we all get over the stupid of yesterday and get on with some brain for the future. Hello Washington... this is your wake up call, the thinking has been done for you, wake up and put it to action, NOW!

I'm disgusted with both parties. Neither has moved passed partisanship to help me and my family. With the jobs being lost now and the price of groceries going up, I too can't take much more. 10% pay cut and 4 day work week or not, I need hwlp. I'll vote for whoever I think can bring this change. I don't care who makes the billions. I do what I do because I love to. I just want to be able to raise my family. I don't know how much longer that will be possible. For the record, I have always voted republican up until now.

It takes two to fight Andy. Your partisanship isn't helping. Give me 10 bad Republicans and I'll give you 10 bad Democrats. The point is everyone is to blame, not just Republicans or Democrats.
