We produce oil and gas, yet we have the higest energy cost in the US. We need to be a leader in the area of altenate energy. We also have all the resources (wind, solar, geothermal, tidal and natural gas) and the money to implement it, we just lack the will.

I feel your pain. I am originally from West Virginia one of the poorest states in the country. They have natural gas, oil, and goal. What happened? All their resources and assets leave the state go figure.
Leaving the state or the country isn't such a bad thing unless the profits go to foreign nations. The sale of resources to another state probably benefits your local economy. I would love to see us drilling for oil enough to export some and pay off our national debt, after our needs are met of course.
I agree Charles. I wanted to use geothermal (closed loop) for residentail cooling, but the city and state could not digest the idea. Why don't we have wind turbines on Fire Island yet? Did you know that only about 25% of the effeciency of NG burned in the cook inlet by turbines arrives in Anchroage at your electrical outlet. If you had a $15000 PEM you could get at least 80% + effeicency with that same anount of NG burned with a by product of heat that could be used to heat in floor heating.... The list goes on an on.
