Take the time to call HARRY REID and SPEAKER PELOSI TODAY! they run congressPosted by Ed "AceEyeEd" Fowler on July 16, 2008 at 5:43am in Everything Else

Everyday the congress has a lower rating then the president.

HARRY REID runs the Senate Speaker Pelosi runs the House

every time they give a proposal , I can shoot holes in it without much thought.

Like the profit, the pollution, the leases....I can go on and on.
When I call and write my Maryland leaders I get the same BS and run around.

No doubt the alternatives we have all discussed will work over time. That is the key word over time. We need drilling NOW!

Thanks Sir, I will be calling again today.

Australia has now said they will be looking for more oil and Gas.
call it can't hurt. bloomberg source.

I also have a thread up for a detail plan . Mr pickens needs to chime in on that.
I assume he wants the government to develop the plan. Check the thread.

I only build complex computer systems , and have worked for IRS and SSA in the past so I do know a bit about project plans, rule by committee etc. Before funding there has to be a detailed plan. To make a plan it will take 2 years or longer. His plan or concept will work but it will take time.
CNG vehicles like the Honda CNG car could work wonders, if oil falls to low then the CNG becomes non cost effective for the masses. Why.
www.cngprices.com look up CA . I see prices between 3 and 4$. Same for new york.
That is the only place Honda is launching the car. I looked in MD.

if you are the type of person who worries about CO2 My kia spectra is rated a 6.5
and Honda CNG is a 9 to 9.5 , EPA site source. look at those SUV and trucks they put out 2 times as much. As the SUV, Truck numbers dwindle so will CO2 emissions.

Funny how the Germans are so wind and solar friendly but produce too many vehicles that produce way too much CO2. I have been looking at the cost of energy in Europe. Sure isn't cheap esp denmark.

Carbon offset will be the next best commodity to invest in.

Oh and watch the price go down on oil today so far -1.30$
http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/commodities/energyprices.html

Pelosi and Reid Today with one press conference you can put the fork in it.
And no this is not the only reason oil is falling there are many complex factors.
Sending the signal to speculators will make prices fall.

When President Bush 3 years ago asked congress to increase funding for alternatives , took congress 2 years to act. (source www.doe.gov)

The market forces are working, We Americans want changes to happen faster. give it time.
Thanks Ed lets keep it going and spread the word.
I making the calls again today.
I will take the time. If I hear they need to drill where they have leases first I think I will scream. Another standard answer is it won't make any difference in the price. When President Bush signed that bill the other day oil went down $9 a barrel.
I just read a story about Reid and Pelosi are standing firm on not drilling off the coasts of the USA when we all know it can be done in a safe and clean way now a days.
Send them the message we are now 47000 strong and growing fast!
As of now there are 10 republicans and 10 democrats trying to push a vote.

Keep up the pressure every day and every night

I look at it this way. When your power goes out in the neighborhood, every one thinks the other neighbor made a call to alert the power company. In reality no one called.

Hope the point was loud and clear.

I will never get a date. When I see all the woman who own recreational boats or personal watercraft and I alert them to the 32% beach oil pollution these things cause, they do not respond back. :o)

While I do not have a serious problem with some drilling, they may well be voicing the opinions of their constituents. You may not agree with them but that is not a reason to demonize them either. The folks that they represent from their districts may well think you are off base and something even like this plan is more viable.
Yes sir and all those glitzy lights in Las Vegas run on air.
I am not demonizing them. Any one who is in office has a hard job.
The buck is stopped at their door step.

I think another group of 10 dems and 10 repub are doing the reverse run to counter.
They took ANWR off the list and are now gaining support.
Then the speaker can say it was not her that said drill and save face with her local people. Politics is so fun to watch.

You are right that they follow the constituents
They also have a dual role here.

Ms. Pelosi is the Speaker of the House.
Mr. Reid is the Head Whip whatever they call it of the Senate.

technically I am a constituent because of their role.

My MD senators and Congressman are about the same. But how does that explain the 90% who want to drill offshore.? I have posted letters from them to.

If they worry about Pollution then ban all recreation boats and personal water craft from lake Mead (NV) and in the San Fran Bay. Bet they won't
that is where pollution comes from 32% not to mention CO2 from the 2 cycle engines.

They can not have cake and eat it too.

I though the people of San Fran liked green
Or should we buy wind sails for our cars?

We all know Mr. Reid hates Nuke.
Ed they are in those positions because the MAJORITY OF THE CITIZENS of this country voted for candidates from their party. That might tell you that the majority may not agree with you. You are right, you are a constituent. So am I. If the majority of their constituency expresses the desire to go a different direction, they will follow suite or be replaced in the next election.

As far as Harry Reid hating nuclear power, I do not know exactly how he feels. I do know he hates the concept of storing nuclear waste at the repository at Yucca Mountain. That IS representing the folks from his state that elected him. I will not fault him for that even though I disagree with him.
Thanks and I understand your position and it is valid. Lets face the fact if oil price is not high and gasoline price has to be high than CNG to sell it to the public.

No the majority of citizens want drilling. I asked my neighbors last week. Unscientific pole.
I guess we need a pole taken by the major survey sites.

As for Harry Reid , that fine too. that area NV and surrounding had so many 900 nukes set off in the 50's guess they did their share.

I do write every day and I do write my local reps to. So I am not picking on either one. They just happen to hold the position.

I don't know if any ever get replaced. That is why I call on my friends who are buried :o) Joke of course
"I don't know if any ever get replaced. That is why I call on my friends who are buried :o) Joke of course"

Yes I do understand. I've understood dead friends have often visited folks at the polling places on election day thru history. As far as being voted out because of not following their constituents wishes though, we saw some examples of that in the interim elections.
I find maryland funny. Two jurisdictions out of 24 control politics. Baltimore City and PG County. They have been run by democrats for 40 yrs. Those areas have a drop out rate of almost 70% high school. Amazing what people put up with for years. See no Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No evil.

speaking of power electric. The Gov Glendininng 10 years ago put price fixing on utility rates. When they came off. Went up 70% over night.. Everybody blamed the power co.

The artificial subsidy did not help it actually hurt in the long run. Same for price fixing in the 70's created the lines, odd even tag days.

If people can't read, write or think then all politicians will prosper.
Snip from Reuters See "CHANGE" I will Write Mr. Durbin and thank him.

A top U.S. Democratic senator said in a newspaper interview published Wednesday that he would consider supporting opening up new areas for offshore oil and gas drilling.

"I'm open to drilling and responsible production," Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin told The Wall Street Journal, adding that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid could also support the move.
