Take the time to call HARRY REID and SPEAKER PELOSI TODAY! they run congressPosted by Ed "AceEyeEd" Fowler on July 16, 2008 at 5:43am in Everything Else

Everyday the congress has a lower rating then the president.

HARRY REID runs the Senate Speaker Pelosi runs the House

every time they give a proposal , I can shoot holes in it without much thought.

Like the profit, the pollution, the leases....I can go on and on.
When I call and write my Maryland leaders I get the same BS and run around.

No doubt the alternatives we have all discussed will work over time. That is the key word over time. We need drilling NOW!

Fossil fuels are leading causes of cancer and respiratory disease. Until there is legislation really promoting clean, cheap energy we will continue to be slaves to the world fossil fuel markets. The burning question is, will the powers in this country move to wind, solar, geo-thermal, wave, cellulosic ethanol and hydrogen or will we continue to destroy ourselves. America needs to be honest about the last 50 years and hopefully correct the future. Our children deserve better. As for bridging the production time, CNG conversion should be mandated and anti-conversion laws that make it more expensive should be repealed immediately.
mandate and when will that be done 10 years or more and CNG is fine with me but you still have to drill for it. that is my only point.

The last 50 years we have cleaned up a good bit.
if we had not we would look like china. We have done a lot to clean cars, coal,

We are all slaves to something or another depending how you look at it.
I think they will move to something. But the Govt moves at a snails pace.

hence the 1970 to 1999 pace of emission controls.

Children, show me some kids at 18 to 21 that care or actually think about this.?
Some I see are sucking on cigs.

the leading cause of anything is genetic.
Other than FOOD
need your source. on this. I do not agree.
I see MS Speaker Pelosi is wavering.

very nice.

keep calling we almost have it done.

Then we need to push congress for a 10 yr, 15 and 20 yr plan.

Good news I have been researching coal. yes COAL. the 50% of the base load of energy.

It appears the power gen companies are buying Green like bio mass and thermal , nuke to offset the carbon from coal. by 2030 the coal plants should reach carbon offset goals.

everybody thanks for caring, thanks for calling do not give up
Ed,

We have them on the ropes, do not let them get back on offence.
Pelosi and Reid are elitist and will not listen to anyone, they must loose their power.
Wow we all made a difference.

Ms Speaker has seen the light. So has Mr Obama.

even if we get 5 more gallons from our own resource, it is still jobs for us and profit for stockholders.

Now I did promise 2 things
1) when the Speaker saw the light
2) and when I get hired

well both have been met.
So I will stop beating this issue into the ground.
I will keep pressing the seep issue. maybe more tents to capture the gases that pollute the air and oil the water. This would be a good idea anyway.

a word of optimism .

We will get it done
it will take time
Get the younger ones involved
The ideas from all of you is amazing. some work for some, not all
Conservation can be fun, and save dollars.

so look at all, do most. in the mean time be innovative with coal
it still is 50% base load.

At least some of us are thinking ahead.

From what I found the carbon footprint goal will be met for the US.
Thanks for your links to Reid and Pelosi. We are in a serious situation here and we need
to let our leaders know how we feel.

The PickensPlan is a good one and while we are going to wind and natural gas we also
must pay high energy bills during the transition.

My point in these pages has been that the transition costs will be high. While others want
to try to tax the oil companies or whoever they think is at fault--I suggest we go to the
FairTax system as soon as possible. The FairTax is a national sales tax which will repeal and
replace the income tax and allow wage earners to keep their whole paycheck: no deductions
for federal income and FICA taxes.

The FairTax concept is basic: all taxes that we pay are included in the price per item of whatever
we buy. A single, one-time sales tax of 23 percent will give the government the same amount
of money it takes in now. We will save $100s of billions because that is the cost of compliance
with the income tax. Prices will not increase because the embedded taxes we pay per item will
be gone.

The objective is that under the FairTax we will all have extra money to cover the costs of
energy and the FairTax will spur investment in new and innovatative alternatives to get us
energy independent as soon as possible.

Please remember that taxing the oil companies may not work as well as one would like to
think. Tax laws are full of loopholes which they know how to use. More importantly, corporations
do not pay taxes, we do as consumers. The tax is passed on to us.

See www.fairtax.org for further information.

While we are writing Reid and Pelosi in support of the PickensPlan, let's add the FairTax
into the mix to help pay for it.

Thank you
ever see the off books calculator?

that system can be flawed.

but the gov likes to use tax code for incentives.
once you have one the gates open.

like energy rebates from 4 choices to 44.

not saying the idea is bad. drug dealers would finally pay their share.
We all acknowledge the off-the-books economy...the FairTax admits it is not
perfect, but that it is better than the income tax. Even the underground economy
has to come out of hiding eventually.

The basic simplicity of the FairTax encourages business transactions while
the income tax tends to just try to find ways to cover up transactions. We
really pay a very high price for that. In the $100s of billions per year.

My point is that with the FairTax everyone would see an immediate increase in
their paycheck to cover these various new expenses we are seeing now.

Under the FairTax we will have that extra money, plus the FairTax will
spur investment in what we need to get out of the foreign oil trap we are in
and get to a clean, domestic energy economy. The FairTax also ends the
capital gains tax--this tax is a real incentive for failure. Without the capital
gains tax we will focus on success.

I believe Mr Pickens notes that it will cost a trillion dollars to build the
windmills. He says it is a one-time expense. True, but it is still a lot of
money by any standard. And all the tax schemes and various other
ideas will not create $1,000,000,000,000 out of nothing. We must have
investment. That will create the wealth. Various taxes may contract our
economy further.

See www.fairtax.org.

Thanks
I'm posting this every where I can.

We need to have tax incentives put inplace to encourage all the large refineries around the gulf coast to add cellulouse gasification facillities to their plants. (They are the only ones with the infrastructure for distribution & pockets deep enough to develope it quickly.) This could bring HUGE amounts of bio-fuels to the public without impacting our food supplies.
