I read the CNN interveiw about House Speaker Pelosi's comment on President Bush's performance. I agree he has been bad for our country but why should he shoulder the blame by himself. He is the President but he could not put us in this state without the help of his adminstration, the Congress, the Senate and the Judicial branch. I think we should consider that even we as voters should shoulder some of the blame because we put these people in office who had their own agenda and we should have had the fix voting reveiwed and asked more quesions about their earmark bills. We all let so much go far and get so very bad. I reflect on this often and I find it very hard to look at the children who will have to inherit this land.

To Mr. Hall
These are direct quotes from President Clintons administration.

Bill Clinton: "If Saddam rejects peace, and we have to use force, our purpose is clear: We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
Madeleine Albright, Clinton Secretary of State: "We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and the security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."
Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Advisor and Classified Document Thief: "[Saddam will] use those weapons of mass destruction again as he has ten times since 1983."
Harry Reid: "The problem is not nuclear testing; it is nuclear weapons. … The number of Third World countries with nuclear capabilities seems to grow daily. Saddam Hussein's near success with developing a nuclear weapon should be an eye-opener for us all."
Dick Durbin: "One of the most compelling threats we in this country face today is the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Threat assessments regularly warn us of the possibility that…Iraq…may acquire or develop nuclear weapons."
John Kerry: "If you don't believe…Saddam Hussein is a threat with nuclear weapons, then you shouldn't vote for me."
John Edwards: "Serving on the Intelligence Committee and seeing day after day, week after week, briefings on Saddam's weapons of mass destruction and his plans on using those weapons, he cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons, it's just that simple. The whole world changes if Saddam ever has nuclear weapons."
Nancy Pelosi: "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology, which is a threat to countries in the region, and he has made a mockery of the weapons-inspection process."
Sens. Levin, Lieberman, Lautenberg, Dodd, Kerrey, Feinstein, Mikulski, Daschle, Breaux, Johnson, Inouye, Landrieu, Ford and Kerry in a letter to Bill Clinton: "We urge you, after consulting with Congress and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions, including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
After President Bush was sworn into office in 2001, his administration was handed eight years worth of intelligence analysis and policy positions from the Clinton years — you know, the years of appeasement when Saddam was tolerated, when opportunities to take out Osama bin Ladin were ignored, as was the presence of an al-Qa'ida terrorist cell in the U.S. — which reared its head on 9/11.
In the weeks prior to the invasion of Iraq, Democrats, who had access to the same intelligence used by the Bush administration (much of which was compiled under the Clinton administration), were clear about the threat of Iraq's WMD capability.
Ted Kennedy: "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
John Kerry: "I will be voting to give the president of the U.S. the authority to use force if necessary to disarm Saddam because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security. … Without question we need to disarm Saddam Hussein."
Hillary Clinton: "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock. His missile-delivery capability, his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists including al-Qa'ida members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
Carl Levin: "We begin with a common belief that Saddam Hussein…is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."
Al Gore: "We know that he has stored nuclear supplies, secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

Bob Graham: "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has and has had for a number of years a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
For the record: Here's a partial list of what didn't make it out of Iraq before the OIF invasion: 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium, 1,700 gallons of chemical-weapon agents, chemical warheads containing the nerve agent cyclosarin, radioactive materials in powdered form designed for dispersal over population centers, artillery projectiles loaded with binary chemical agents, etc. Assuming Irag had no WMD because only small caches were recovered after Operation Iraqi Freedom began is perilously flawed logic. That, in no way, affirms what he spirited out through Iran and Syria before OIF.
Tell me again that it was all President Bush's fault
You will note please these are all Democrats.
As for the wiretaps, these are leagal under the war powers act and were aproved by both houses.

Thank you
Noel M.

I agree that everyone is at fault but the tragedy is that we elected them. They have acted in their interest rather than what we elected them to do. It is bringing our country to its knees. We are just their open check book until they leave office, write their books and go on their lecture circuit.

Failure is putting it nice and it's history now. We need to focus on the future and clean , cheap energy. Fossil fuels are leading causes of cancer and respiratory diesease. We need Washington to put all resources to work on wind, solar, geo-thermal, cellulosic ethanol and hydrogen. MIT just advanced fuel cell production via solar and wind. Hopefully someone will jump on this. http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2008/oxygen-0731.html

AN OPEN LETTER TO MR. T. BOONE PICKENS.

We have joined your effort to reduce U.S. dependency on imported oil and gas and, in that connection, are presenting you with a method for increasing the efficiency of present natural gas usage, as it relates to fertilizer production in the United States.

Our plan is proven to increase nitrogen delivery efficiency by more than 40%, compared to currently-used methods of creating dry chemical fertilizers and dumping them on the ground.

What we are offering you is a simultaneous solution to (1) Homeland Security, (2) Agriculture, (3) Environmental concerns, and (4) Economic Stimulus and Development concerns, which are of increasing interest to all Americans.

What we have to offer is a 100% environmentally “green” liquid fertilizer manufacturing installation and processes, along with patented formulae, which produce liquid ecological fertilizers (N-P-K, plus micro elements) using common non-toxic mineral compounds.
The formulations do NOT, per se, include any organic materials. However, here in Europe, these formulations are so ecologically friendly ("green") that they are certified for use in "organic" farming operations.

These machines produce N-P-K fertilizers WITHOUT EVER using dangerous, explosive, Ammonium Nitrate. Accordingly, you will find that a broad deployment of these machines, throughout our nation can be a big help in the "War On Terror", since they form the basis of restricting Ammonium Nitrate to a very very few, large industrial farm operations. As such, terrorists will have a much harder time making Oklahoma City-styled bombs.

We have erected a pilot facility (for sales purposes, so as to not give away formulae secrets during actual operations) near the city of Buzau (about 100 km from Bucharest). We are prepared to allow close inspection of this facility by you or your designated representatives and/or by the United States government in Bucharest, which could confirm any and all claims we make about this enterprise for anyone interested.

We are requesting that you or someone you trust undertake a “fact-finding” trip to Romania to witness the machinery and the processes after an initial evaluation by the aforementioned appropriate local representatives of the U.S. government who are presently in Bucharest.

Thereafter, we would ask you to seriously consider corporate sponsorship of a deployment of these machines along your proposed wind generation corridor (as spelled-out in the Pickens Plan). Thereafter, we ask that you propose legislation back in the Congress, which would place these machines in service throughout the United States in sufficient numbers and in broad enough distribution (as to area) so as to support subsequent legislation to strictly curtail and limit access to Ammonium Nitrate fertilizers, as a measure to assist in “the War on Terror”. The machines and processes are needed because, until now, no large-scale, commercially-viable alternative existed to Ammonium Nitrate fertilizers.

Only with a nation-wide mandate to increase efficiency in nitrogen delivery, such as can be achieved by the large-scale use of these machines, can the aforementioned 40+ % increase in natural gas use efficiency be had, as it relates to natural gas use in fertilizer production.

With these machines, you eliminate a readily-available explosive from the public domain. This does not even touch the other benefits to be had from these remarkable fertilizers.

In the spirit of patriotism, we are prepared to work with you to ensure that costs for deployment of this technology is not prohibitive and also does not run counter to either good business or the National Interests of the United States.

Specifically, we offer to train trainers here in Romania and there, in the United States, once domestic production is funded and, otherwise, fully supported.

We have all information at the ready to support our proposal, immediately. Please contact us, directly, for more specific information.

Think how many people would be put to work simply manufacturing the machinery (places like closed shipyards or other facilities closed during a recent economic slowdown would be perfect, for example).

We hope to hear from you or from someone of equal vision for a more energy self-sufficient future for the United States.

While we would rather keep this simple and deal, exclusively, with one man of vision and means, we are prepared, in any case, to license those who might wish to use our inventions on some lesser scale.

Sincerely,

Thomas L. Ketchum, Jr.

And now we have McBush and a gun toting creationist with a daughter as pregnant as Britney Spears' little sister and no skills to vote for. And they are running on a platform of CHANGE. Change of what> Diapers? If that woman is the best the republicans have to offer, they are in a sorry way. It s like when Bush nominated his secretary ---the old lady in the blue dress---to the supreme court, onlyo then he got laughed off the stage. And this time , instead of observing that Palin is no Hillary Clinton, those republicans at the convention (probably the only people in the united state s or the world who LIKE George W BUsh) were giving her rave reviews. Well, if cutting up Moose Meat was a goo d prerequisit e for Vice President, I might be enthusiastic. BUt Good Grief, McCain has CANCER, he is a reallly old DUDE, he could easily die i n the nexct year or so and we would have Miss Alaska Runner Up for PRESIDENT! SHoot that is almost as bad as voting in a failed baseball team owner ex cocaine addict and ex alcoholic with a famous name to a major office.
I hope this is a wake-up call to all Americans to just shut your eyes and VOTE DEMOCRATIC this election. At least they will get the economy rolling again, probably have new jobs out there in alternative energy development and use, and discontinue the Welfare System for Rich people with Seven Houses (or was it 8, John McCain---he couldnt remember in a recent interview. But then he is getting old and feeble.)

Do i see a bit of hidden envy in your tirade?

This women took the initiative and ousted the goodole boys from their tax and spend entrenched positions. Prosecuted and fined others, and gave Alaska a viable economy by returning some of the tax money pilfered by politicians.
The government cannot tax the country into prosperity. The government does not create new jobs! It is the "rich" that the government wants to tax.
by taking more money from the "rich" what will they use the money for?
They will distribute it to the well deserving poor (to get votes and keep them in power)who will spend it foolishly and still be poor. As a history lesson this country has since 1933 spent 300 billion dollars on the poor and we have more than ever.
next time you need a job apply to a poor man!
Another point of interest for your Democratic mentality. The government could tax that upper 10% of the tax payers at 100% and it would only run the government for 22 minutes.(Drudge Report).
So why are you downgrading the accomplishments of a women with some backbone, that took on the system ,won, and made a difference in politics.
As for Diapers yes diapers need to be changed frequently, as well as politicians, and for the same reason.
Governor Palin is far better than most of the republican party has to offer, and it should be a wakeup call for them.
As for Senator Obama's idea for change? The only change you will see is the change that is left in your pocket when he is done taxing you.
Alternative energy? Maybe he could prohibit the mining of the low sulfur coal to give his Chinese buddy's the edge, for now we buy the coal from china that we could be mining here. that was done by our democrat President Clinton.
The only advice I have for the people who criticize the personal lives of other families is get someone who has lead a perfect life and raised a perfect family. So sweep your own doorstep before looking at your neighbors. I dont think God is available for this position.
Enough I waste my time.

If Bush was a total failure in August, which of course he was, how about NOW? Look at this. He wants American tacpayers to bail out the golden parachute boys club on Wall Street, or he says our entire fianncial system is trashed.

Listen, I will take a DEMOCRATIC president and an all democrat house and senate anytime over these crooks---including NO REGULAATION MCCAIN and his new hot sidekick, Dan Quale with big hair and boobs.

Go Nancy pelosi go, go Obama, Go Biden, Go Dodd. I am tired of watching america sink into oblivion at the hands of Rove, Cheney, Bush, Bush, and Bernanke. And b the way,, if SARA PALIN iis the best and smartest and most able female in the republican party, they need some tampering with their gene pool, and fast!!!!

There you go again, Terrence, flogging a dead horse. We all know about the campaign contributions to Obama from Fannie and Freddie, that's old news. In fact, the first two links I've posted here are old news, too. They are links to Opensecrets listings of the major campaign contributors to both McCain and Obama. The fact is that McCains list is full of major financial companies. Obama has many on his list, too.

The next three links are to Newsweek stories about McCains campaign manager, Rick Davis, who lobbied for Freddie Mac and took money from them up until April of this year. They also mention the lies that the McCain campaign told to the media about Davis not recieving money from Freddie Mac.

The next link is to a Wikipedia page for the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which allowed for the consolidation of commercial and investment banks. Pay special attention to the segment labeled Critics and read what economist Robert Ekelund and Mark Thornton said about the act. I include this because Phil Gramm, the Gramm of this act, is McCain economic advisor and campaign co-chairman.

The next link is for Tom Loeffler, who is also McCains campaign co-chairman. It is also to a Wikipedia page, which gives information on Mr. Loeffler and mentions that he has been a lobbyist for Saudi Arabia.

Neither candidate is clean of any lobbyist touch or any campaign contributions, but then it would hard to find a politician in Washington who is.

Just for grins and giggles, the last two links are to Opensecrets.org and list campaign contributions from oil companies.
