House Speaker Pelosi calls Bush 'a total failure'

I read the CNN interveiw about House Speaker Pelosi's comment on President Bush's performance. I agree he has been bad for our country but why should he shoulder the blame by himself. He is the President but he could not put us in this state without the help of his adminstration, the Congress, the Senate and the Judicial branch. I think we should consider that even we as voters should shoulder some of the blame because we put these people in office who had their own agenda and we should have had the fix voting reveiwed and asked more quesions about their earmark bills. We all let so much go far and get so very bad. I reflect on this often and I find it very hard to look at the children who will have to inherit this land.

You know as I know the age ole saying "you can't be a jack of all trades and a master of none." Punning a phase "Now is the time for all good men to take up arms." We are not so much in a war on the home front but a war of truth and policies. When I first started out reading about Mr. Pickens plan, I followed him waiting for him to waiver. I love a man with a plan. I respect a person who has convictions. I don't have to agree but I can respect another ones veiws. I wish these two politicians would stop telling us what we want to hear to get our vote but show us what they are about. Like it is always said, "You must lead by example." I just had an idea. We need a plan of attack. You know, a "first you do this"..."the you do that" kind of plan. We have a golden opportunity in that we are coming up to elections. There has to be an organization to the methods we use or no one will take us seriously. Just like any organization, there are different people who are best at different jobs. Some people in this site are the ones who are best suited for the actual, hands-on energy R&D. Then those who are best suited for advertising the plan. And, there are those who are more interested in the political arena. Just getting the alternate energy's out there isn't going to do much if attitudes in Washington haven't changed. We have to 'fight' on that front, as well.

I nominate Lex and Lock for coming up with this plan of attack. Lock has already sent out his Call For Action. A wonderful idea which he put into action. But, then what? What's the next step?

Alright Lex, but what do you suggest we do in our local areas? You say VOTE. There are people around me who are so ignorant of the issues in my neck of the woods that they barely know who's running. Being from the South 'hick sticks' the only thing some know is there is a white guy and a black guy running and there was a woman in the mix. No offense to anyone...I don't care if they are pink with purple polka dots. It's the content of the message that matters to me...not the color of the package in which the message comes. Armed with that information, what would you suggest as a constructive way to inform my fellow 'rednecks'? If you...or anyone else out there, for that matter...will give me some pointers, I'll translate into a language they'll understand. (I just realized that I AM bi-lingual!) We do have a choice. It is our final checks and balance for the people.
It is called the Referendum,a vote on a bill written by the people.
We have the comunication in the internet. It can simply state that all bills prohibiting drilling on the coastline is void. It would not matter who objects because they need a majority of votes to override it.Even if we could not get enough to pass it it might bring our senators back in a hurry. the thought of them loosing any control would give them fits.

Just start the roomer sometimes the power of a good roomer can do more than the actual event Tell everyone that some lawyers wrote a bill that the people want made into law. make some phoney petitions and circulate them around.
We would find out two things. How many people would actualy go for offshore drilling and we see who panics and goes to the media first saying that we cant do this.
It might be fun to see a senator swett

He is opposed to keeping products and services in America exclusively and calls us "protectionists" like its a bad thing when we question it! He went to pander to the Harley riders after he voted against the government buying/using only American-made products because it undermines the free/fair trade that he embraces. That's some pretty heavy information there! Your "referendum" info, if needed, could be so constructive. And then on the other side of the coin, if it were to catch on, it could be very destructive and run into the ground. Every 'tom', 'dick' and 'harry' might want referendums for everything from leash laws to picking your nose in public. But...the rumor idea...how interesting. Sneaky and manipulative...but veeeeery interesting.

I agree, also, with Lex. It would be nice if our elected Commander in Chief would do his job. So, how long do y'all figure we wait before unleashing this Power of The People? It's only a month long vacation, isn't it? Do we let them slide this time and see what they get done when they get back or do we go for it, now?

The referendum is not to be used lightly to be sure. First it is hard to do. Second it was meant as the people’s final checks and balance to our government. We must look closely at the problem. We must ask ourselves who caused it? We must look at our own government. How did they do this? With the help of the environmentalists, Special interest groups that some have very Nobel intentions have created the path for the government to increase their power base. Government can increase power by solving problems real or perceived. Prohibit drilling of oil where it is most plentiful. We must then get it from somewhere! The easiest source then is the Middle East. I do not doubt that our oil companies also have had a hand in this to drive up the cost to make a larger profit. One thing we might consider is declare the oil as a utilities like natural gas or electric, and then regulate it, Dam did I just say I want to give government more power? This is how it is done. Get the people to demand that they do something.
Do the oil companies own leases to drill for oil in other places? Yes but they need to make money so they must drill where they know they will have a plentiful field. Lex has a very valid point on jobs going out of the country it might be beneficial to Senator McCain to point this out.
I have seen many good ideas out on the web. Our problem has been No organization, until now. I give Mr. Pickens all the accolades for starting this forum. However I do not see many participating.
We need Ideas people no matter how much you think they may be hair brained. They may give someone else an idea.
I know I should practice what I preach. Well here goes nothing. I need help with the design of an electric motor. The design is similar to the ones on the linier drive trains. This one would be round and we would have four, (one on each wheel) having multiple field coils controlled by a digital control to maximize the pull on the permanent magnets. We would use all four to get the car moving and as the cruising speed is reached, we switch to two. Breaking would cause all four to re generate power to recharge the batteries recovering energy. I hope I am not boring the others on this forum; I don’t want people to think I am just another pretty face. (HA HA).
Well I have gone on long enough. I would like to hear from someone who could steer me in the right direction.

The government did not look in the interest of the people but to the shareholders. The stock sold low doing th hearing. Split at the end of the hearing and ended high when it was ruled that Con Edison Electric was a "Natural Monopoly" and could not be changed. I ask will a referendum assist the average "Joe" concerning the oil situations.
I enjoy reading your open letter and it is never boring. The letters have been a learning experience.
