PickensPlan

I have been reading about Al Gore's speech yesterday outlining his plan to completely convert all electric energy to renewable resources. Pickens has made a statement that he and Gore have differing objectives. Even so, I think that these two plans could work well together. I would like to encourage Mr. Pickens to work with Al Gore and see if his windmill project can fit with Al Gore's measures. I have joined Al Gore's group, as well and will encourage the same thing, there.

The more these groups and plans work together, the bigger the army will be and the more powerful our voice and actions.

I would like to invite algore to take a flying leap. When he can explain WHY the polar caps on Mars are melting due to anything WE'VE done (other than share the same Sun) I might believe we can reverse the natural climate cycles on our planet. The Pickens Plan, as I understand it, is about alternate and renewable energy sources to reduce our dependence on the people who want to behead us all. If this is going to deteriorate into a mission to support algore and his band of marxists, count me out.
The boiling/melting points of water on Mars are much lower than here due to the very thin atmosphere. Explain to me why, according to the geological record, we should be in a cycle of cooling right now when we are actually in a cycle of warming.
Sorry, I have a hard time taking ManBearPig seriously. If Gore wants to work with Pickens, that's great, but nobody should bend this plan to work with Gore, it should be the other way around.
Cute nicknames don't help us solve these problems. I can start saying "George Bush (WarcriminalRetard)" or "T. Boone Pickens (MoneyGrubbingOilManInSheepsClothing)". I don't actually believe any of that though except for possibly the "warcriminal" comment.

I can look past Picken's being a leader in an industry that has largely sold this country out over the past few decades as well as the reprehensible swiftboating of John Kerry. Stop contributing to the problem or I may start calling you ConservativeDoucheFace.
"Stop contributing to the problem or I may start calling you ConservativeDoucheFace."

Call me what you like. I am discussing a public figure, and if you wish to lower yourself to personal insults of me, don't expect that I will sit by and let you.

Besides, it would help if you had a freaking clue about my politics. You don't...so calling me that would be extremely stupid. Can I call you extremely stupid? Well, whether or not I can, I sure can think it.
Pickens wants to solve our oil problem and save our country. Gore says as long as we're getting rid of the 22% of our electric power we get from natural gas lets get rid of another 50% we get from coal. How does this help us? We have enough of an economic burden right now without taking this on.
Pickens Plan is simple and uses confident equitable technology that is already growing at 25% per year. The point is to keep it simple enough it can move forward, increasing the 25%/yr turbine growth.

Don't rock the boat of this widely diversified community by dragging Goreism into it. If Gore has anything worthwhile to say then let hundreds of thousands join the plan he is helping finance.
The beauty of the Picken's plan is its pragmatic simplicity. It is based on two premises. The first is that you can generate substantial amounts of electric power from wind energy - enough to provide for 20 percent or so of our projected electrical needs in approx. 10 years. This is based on technology that exists today and is currently deployed in a meaningful amount already in numerous locations within the United States as well as other parts of the world. The Department of Energy has documented that there is enough "wind" on a consistent enough basis to do this in the "wind corridor' from the Texas Panhandle to the upper plain states.

The second premise is that you can power vehicles with natural gas. This is also proven as many city buses and other vehicles attest to every day.

Given that 20 percent of electricty is currently produced by burning natural gas it follows that, if you could replace that capacity with wind power you would free up a lot of natural gas for transportation. natural gas we are already producing largely, if not entirely, in this country.

All that is required is to build the infrastructure - the power lines, the windmills, and the delivery means to fill up natural gas powered vehicles in large quantities. While this would be a massive project there is precedent for America embarking on and achieveing large projects of similar magnitude before, e.g. the Interstate Highway System.

The key is that no great scientific breakthrough has to happen to make this work. it may not be a "final solution" to the "carbon free" nirvanna that Vice President Gore is advocating but it has the very real benefit of being achievable while advocay of eliminating all coal fired generation of electricity and other such proposals, while perhaps worthy goals (or not) fail even the most basic analysis of being achievable and are as practical as suggesting we return to a horse based transportation system. The benefit of that approach is that we would generate as much horse manure as such proposals themselves are full of.
Nice plane......... T6?

However.... the one thing everybody is either ignoring.... or unaware of is Boone is using YOU and trying to use the fed in a simple land grab.

After he has the land, he will do as he always does....

Profit his ass off. You think the "big oil" companies show huge profits?... just wait for this to come to fruition. After TAKING the land that he can't get right now (tied up in Collinsworth and Childress counties.... it's WHY he started this "pickens plan") he will be able to do as he will...... "imminent domain" comes to mind.....

Wonder what he's gonna charge per gigawatthour moving down HIS wires from HIS wind generators? wonder how many farmers will be put out of business because he owns the rights to their land?

Boone AIN'T a saint.... ask those of us who've been living in his part of the world.. at best he's a annoyance (yeah Boone.... if you're reading this, my grandfather WAS Noah...and YOU used to be a decent individual)

By the way..... I thought natural gas came from the same place as oil.... fossil fuel... what's up with that?
Al Gore is an idiot. He seeks only personal financial gains and does not have America's best interest at heart.
Al Gore couldnt think of all this when he was in office, what makes you think he can only profit from his involment, remember he invented the internet!
So you would support his plan if he suggested it while he was in office? What does that have to do with the merits of the plan? Why didn't Pickens offer an energy alternative plan before he was in his 80's?
