The house and Pelosi just voted to go on vacation without acting on the energy crisis. The closing vote passed by one congressman. Was one your Congressman?

Stan and Dan,

Relax, the universe is all energy, there is energy everywhere humans will adapt and use newly discovered sources as we need them. the bridge to the future will most likely be nuclear power because it is an abundant source (over 100,000 years worth) and it has the potential to desalt oceans for food and fuel. At a cost of around $0.05 per KWH it beats all other current systems hands down and no C02.

Clean energy is available if we educate ourselves and stop the fear game of RADIATION. For radiation is the base of the stars and the universe even granite counters give off radiation.

So, cheer up and with a mature attitude America can and will solve the energy crisis in the next ten years and we will have 200 years worth of oil/coal left over. To make energy cost effective we must produce more from any and all sources, the market will pick the winners.

Ok, how do you propose America creates the energy needed to maintain the standard of living? All the alternatives together can not produce 30% of current demand in ten plus years.

As for your logic concerning tax breaks and subsidies, American troops are still in Germany, Japan, Korea, and Europe. What does this have to do with energy ?

Oil companies like any other BUSINESS can not pay taxes; they can only "COLLECT TAXES" from the consumers of the product. This is true for hamburgers at Burger King, clothing from Gap, food from ADM, and corn from Iowa. I fact we would have lower prices for necessary items for the POOR if we cancelled all forms of business and capital taxes.

All business enterprises have "OVERHEAD" expenses, big corporations have up to 100% of cost in these expenses; so, if the government takes $ 1.00 in taxes from the enterprise they must charge the consumer $ 2.00. This is a very inefficient way to generate money for government, but it hides the true cost from the voters and provides politicians with cash. The public has been convinced that big business is evil and rips off the citizens; wrong, it is the BIG government that lies and rips off the poor and needy.

Your assumption regarding the production of oil takes millions years is also flawed. Methane is being harvested from dumps and swamps today; it is produced in years not decades. Science is a infinitely variable subject and generalities rarely apply to all items observed.

AN OPEN LETTER TO MR. T. BOONE PICKENS.

We have joined your effort to reduce U.S. dependency on imported oil and gas and, in that connection, are presenting you with a method for increasing the efficiency of present natural gas usage, as it relates to fertilizer production in the United States.

Our plan is proven to increase nitrogen delivery efficiency by more than 40%, compared to currently-used methods of creating dry chemical fertilizers and dumping them on the ground.

What we are offering you is a simultaneous solution to (1) Homeland Security, (2) Agriculture, (3) Environmental concerns, and (4) Economic Stimulus and Development concerns, which are of increasing interest to all Americans.

What we have to offer is a 100% environmentally “green” liquid fertilizer manufacturing installation and processes, along with patented formulae, which produce liquid ecological fertilizers (N-P-K, plus micro elements) using common non-toxic mineral compounds.
The formulations do NOT, per se, include any organic materials. However, here in Europe, these formulations are so ecologically friendly ("green") that they are certified for use in "organic" farming operations.

These machines produce N-P-K fertilizers WITHOUT EVER using dangerous, explosive, Ammonium Nitrate. Accordingly, you will find that a broad deployment of these machines, throughout our nation can be a big help in the "War On Terror", since they form the basis of restricting Ammonium Nitrate to a very very few, large industrial farm operations. In the spirit of patriotism, we are prepared to work with you to ensure that costs for deployment of this technology is not prohibitive and also does not run counter to either good business or the National Interests of the United States.

Specifically, we offer to train trainers here in Romania and there, in the United States, once domestic production is funded and, otherwise, fully supported.

If your product is cost competitive and the plants can use the nitrogen from your compound, distributors in the farm belt will buy all you can produce. This being said, if you are having problems in the market place you have not meet the requirement of sentence one above.

Oil just dropped to $ 105 on the way to $ 85 by year end. All alternatives that can not be profitable at around $ 70 or $ 0.12 per KWH for electricity will fail in the market and return to the world of research and development. So it is time to start talking about expanding nuclear. The Germans just announced that the nuclear ban passsed in 2002 is going to be removed and they will build more reactors; their Green party is in full retreat with electricty up 55%.

I think that you forgot wave action turbines ;). Seriously, though, I'm with you,"No more Hollywood talk." I did read that BP is going to purchase 25% of Chesapeake--the company that has aligned itself with Pickens. I guess the company is okay with it, but I'm wondering if it will be a plus or minus.

Reprocessing requires the President to remove a Presidential order prohibiting it place by Jimmy Carter in the 70's which killed the industry in America. France and Japan reprocess and reuse spent fuel rods. It can be done and the amount of HIGH (dangerous) nuclear material is actually small. It will all fit in one or two huge holes made in Nevada and New Mexico by Bomb tests (already radioactive). Waste is not a problem and most can be placed in normal dumps without health risks.

The entire universe is radioactive, the sun is a nuclear explosion, granite counter tops in your house expose your family to more radiation than escaped from three mile island. Fear of radiation is with out basis; unfortunately most people do not take science and are used by those with agendas as a fear object.

In closing if it were not for radiation there would be no life on earth.

There is not very much HIGH risk waste in the entire world. Just think, people are living and having normal children in Japan where we bombed just sixty years ago. yes they have lived there for many many years. The danger and the amount is very exaggerated by the unknowing for generations. Ignorance of radioactivity is exceeded only by the education industry.

We do not have to learn to accept radiation it is the current reality of the universe.
