VAWT's are for the birds, and the multidirectional wind. Weather can be different suburban or urban, but the key is getting it to the enduser.

It doesn't seem to matter what you do, consumers are at the mercy of the powers that be who control whatever source of energy you use. I was all electric, the bill got to be astronomical, I went to natural gas as a heat source in the winter and with all the fee's they have found to add on, it's not an economical alternative either because there always seems to be the problem with someone at the top wanting to get rich instead of just make a living. Everybody I know would like to get off the grid and be independant of not only oil but the greediness of our suppliers of all types of energy but the costs for solar panels or wind turbines seems to be out of reach of the average consumer. If someone could come up with a method or company that could furnish affordable solar panels or wind energy generators for the average consumer we could leap forward with energy independance. If nearly one fourth of your monthly income goes to your utility bill, it kind of stifles any other ideas and solutions.

Weather V.A.W.T.S. and H.A.W.T..S. three major factors. What about the small scale producers needs. Isn't this a minefield of opportunities for Biz as well as ed programs,etc...

We need a representative at the large oil companies, as they will provide the infrastructure to deliver natural gas. We need a representative at the large truck companies as they will provide the engines that can use natural gas.We also need a representative at the large shipping companies that also will have an inerest in low cost natural gas.

Last weekend I attended a talk by the CEO of Coulomb Technologies. They're making charging stations meant to be deployed around a city for electric vehicle drivers to use. He had an extremely interesting presentation, and it gave me the topics for a series of blog posts.

This first Equating "fuel" efficiency between electric, hybrid, and gasoline v... tries to answer the efficiency of an EV over a gas vehicle. For instance Tesla claims its Roadster gets 190 miles/gallon equivalent efficiency.

It seems my electric motorcycle gets 112 miles/gallon and my electric bicycle gets 1120 miles/gallon.

Okay electricity isn't measured in gallons that involves some conversion factors.

Curious what y'all's thoughts are...

www.theasphaltblogger.com is my blog site. I write about whatever is on my mind. I discuss alot of issues that affect truck drivers and our nation. I appreciate Mr. Pickens efforts but do not agree with everything he or anyone else has to say. I believe this is one of the greatest things about humans. When we learn to discuss things we become more knowledgeable and cultured. This can only help us grow. Thank you for your time.

I am grateful that Mr. Pickens has brought attention and urgency to the issues surrounding the way that we use energy. I am am also a big energy advocate -- I have written 2 textbooks on hydrogen fuel cells. Hello your are just the kind of people we need here. I would like yo see how we could take various ideas and put them together in such a way that no one energy plan magic bullet exists. Why can we not use all available means, some which do better in some parts of the country and not so well in the others. For instance Pickens pointed out the portion of the country where wind power will produce best. Bio fuels including one of my favorites Bio fuel derived from Algae in other area's. I am sure you get the idea. Thus important development in technology Like hydrogen fuel cells, better ways of storing energy like batteries are critical to this issue. I sometimes feel we miss the concept because we are too focused on one magic bullet.
