Do you think we have a chance of getting control of hydrogen away from the government and big business??? It will be just like gas with just a few big businesses dispensing and selling it, it should be readily available and cheap for everyone.
I do wish someone would invent some sort of fuel cell that would be fairly small and run on accumulated solar power. I live in the desert and we have sunshine (and wind) about 350 days a year. Solar cars would be a great means of transportation here.
I have a little goat, maybe I can figure out a way to use goat "pellets" to run my car. I am thinking of gettting a dog, maybe a mixture of the two with a little cat stuff added in? (place tongue firmly in cheek)
One thing we can all do is keep after the government and both presidential candidates to pick up this plan. Paris Hilton picked up on it right away!
http://www.greencarcongress.com is an excellent source for news about the research and development going on across the USA and around the world.
Topics covered include Natural Gas and other alternative transportation fuels.
Two things we need to get going. First, we need a compressed natural gas refueling station. Second, we need for the city to approve the use of the Phill home refueling appliance.
The Pickens Plan, Visionary Leadership or Financial Genius? Posted by Tom Savage on August 13, 2008 at 5:20pm
Does it matter if Mr. Pickens is out to make a profit from his wind and solar farms or not?
All good ideas come from motivated people that are trying to solve a problem and $700 billion dollars a year is one of the largest problems the United States has ever faced. The statement made on CNN, that the US is borrowing billions from China to buy Oil from the Middle East to pollute the atmosphere is absolutely correct. Within three decades at the current rate the US will become the largest debtor nation in the world. Already the EU and many other countries are leaps and bounds ahead of the most powerful nation on the planet when it comes to alternative energy programs and government policies. Its time to change!
The past eight years of American politic has put billions in the pockets of a very few rich Republicans that own stock in companies like Exxon. Bush ensured this by providing them with a tax break that would allow them to pocket more then most of us will make in a life time. If T. Boone is doing this only to make money, bully for him because in the long run it will be better for the US and for the rest of the world. If it reduces air pollution and frees up millions of barrels of oil for the rest of the world to use, this is a good thing. 4% of the worlds population is not entitled to use 25% of the worlds oil supply. We all need to get along and live together on this planet and helping the developing nations build their economies on oil and alternative energy will go a long way to setting things right. Hundreds of thousands around the world have died over oil in the last ten years and not even one life was worth it.
What if one of those brave young military people was the next Einstein or the inventor that was going to find a new energy source for us to use for centuries to come or find the cure for cancer. Fighting over oil to make a few rich people richer makes no commonsense at all.
