Drill Now & Save USA Economy

Oil Is Lifeblood of Capitalism- Yes We Can Drill Our Way Out - On the way to changing over

Thank you T Boone Pickens For Taking Lead on National Discussion!

I dont agree with you here. We have billions of gallons on US Soil and Lands. We are being held hostage by the EPA, Democrats and Liberals in our own country.

Wind, Nuclear and Solar will not drive our cars, trucks, trains and ships.

We have to give incentive to oil companies to drill now in Anwar, Off Shore and Oil Shale. The President should declare a national emergency and take control away from the Congress.

It will take decades to switch to Natual Gas. In my area the closest station for National Gas station is 70 miles away.

We must drill NOW. We are held hostage by the muslim countries and dictators around the world. We can drill our way out.

It was the DOT COM BOOM, followed by the HOUSING BOOM...and now the OIL BOOM......all ended up busting.......

This will BUST the moment we start pulling oil out of the ground.

Go to the grocery store. Every item in the store took OIL to get it to the store. It took OIL to produce it. It took OIL to get it home.

This is NOT an electricity problem. It is an OIL problem.

Drill Now Drill Here and Pay Less.

American Oil, American Lands, American Companies and American Jobs.

There is an important figure to remember when you talk about finding oil--30 billion. That's billion with a B. That's the number of barrels of crude oil that the world currently consumes in a year. Whenever somebody talks about reserves, divide their figure by 30 billion. That will tell you how long this find would delay the eventual time when we run out of oil. Its a good number to remember.

In the case of ANWR, there is said to be 10 billion barrels of crude up there. Okay, divide that by 30 billion. What do you get? 1/3 year? Is it a good thing that we can increase the time until we run out of oil by 4 more months. I suppose. But does this really solve the problem?

And offshore drilling? 20 billion barrels. Let's see, that will supply the world for 8 months.

I didn't mean to rain on your parade, but I don't think this will solve the problem.

Electric cars, natural gas cars, you can't buy these yet in any signifigant numbers. Global warming is a hoax water vapor and the sun drive global temperatures not a gas that makes up less than 0.03% of the atmosphere. We need to do everything, drill now, build nuke plants, build wind farms, design electric cars, fuel cell cars, all of it so that this crisis doesn't get worse, in the mean time we need oil to run the cars and trucks that are already on the road, until we can get all of these alternatives up and running.

I wish everyone would get behind clean energy and stop the disagreement on climate change. The real issue is we need find new ways to produce materials and to transport everything without harming the human race. Oil and its byproducts cause cancer and respiratory disease. If you doubt that just start your car in the garage and stand there for one hour each day for the next year. Let me know how you’re doing next year, if you’re alive!! Populations are exploding around the world, the human race can not continue with fossil fuels as a fuel.

I read an article in March "Time Magazine" on extracting biofuel from algae. That we can harvest 5,000 to 20,000 gallons of biofuel per acre and its a renewable resource. The article went on and said that if we took 1/10 of the State of New Mexico and harvested algae that we could have enough fuel to run the USA per year. I read that a plant in Japan burn s their garbage to produce electricity and uses the by-product carbon dioxide to grow algae to produce biofuel and take the remainder of the algae product to make dog food. No need to drill in Anwar

We are Americans more than we are Republicans or Democrats

Conserve all we can.
Build more Wind.
Build more Nuke's.
Build Solar.
Use Ethanol.
Use Oil Shale.
Use Coal to liquid technology
Use the natural gas for the cars.

Drill for more oil too.
But keep in mind oil will get very expensive. But we have to buy some time...
Also Eat more Birds...Don't want the birds too stop the Wind Generators

Just stop selling the USA for oil.

Somebody resurrect this thread when the oil companies are actually producing on the land they already have access to.

This is simple economics. We need more energy. Yes we need to drill more. Drilling more takes years. We need to diversify our energy, not just drill for more oil. Adding renewable energy also takes years. The more we diversify, the less oil will cost, the less we're at risk and the less the source we're adding will cost.

Norway generates roughly 100% of their electricity from Hydro plants. Canada does roughly 70%. We're going to be outdone by some Norwegians and Canadians?

Relying on a single main source for energy...oil...is plain stupid.

Personally I think burning anything to power a light bulb is plain stupid and 19th century.

We need to invest in something clean and sustainable so at the end of the day we have a source we can continually rely on and control. It should be our Energy policy. Period. It should be part of our National security. We should and could easily pay for this out of our defense spending.

I applaud Mr. Pickens for leading this effort. It's the first plan I've seen. Unlike our unfocused, nonproductive, selfish politicians, he's a true hero.

These forums are never set up right . Why cant I replay to the 3rd answer.
The 30 billion barrel question.
Do you multiply by 4 since we would be buying the oil for our own consumption. I read earlier we consume 25% of the worlds oil. If we sell it, would we make money on it to spend on research for other alternative technologies. I think drilling is good for the worlds appetite and new emerging economies that want to buy it.

Its not going to do much for lifeslyes changes here in our country. That is a mindset that takes generations to change.

Get real.

We need demand destruction and new oil finds just to stand still.

We need demand destruction and new oil finds to replace the oil wells that are being depleted.

People seem to think the old wells will keep pumping forever. The trouble is all the easy oil has beef found. Now all we have is hard to get stuff or a little of high sulfur, sour crude if we are lucky...and lately we put all our hopes in wringing the lasts drops of oil out of the sand and rocks. What addicts will do to get their fix!

Oil doesn't add up anymore. As of now there are about 21million proved oil reserves in the US and we use over 20 million a day.

I don't agree with you at all. Yes there is lots of oil, but no way to refine it. You can drill till your blue in the face, but if you can't process it, what good is it? To build a new refinery would take at the minimum 5 years....that's half way to changing everything! I'll chose to do the change without damaging the landscape further! The other option is to STOP exporting what we already drill and keep it home! That will significantly reduce the dependence on someone else's oil. We will never get completely away from using oil, but the alternatives are available. Use them!

You were being satirical, right?
If you weren't being satirical, you need to be educated about world enegy.
What gives Americans, 4% of the poplulation the right to burn 25% of the worlds oil?
Money? Guess what, the cost will continue to climb.

Nobody can be that stupid to think it is the fault of a political party.
The U.S. started running out of oil thirty years ago, and then we will run out in about another thirty years if we don't educate people like you.
