Drill Now & Save USA Economy

Oil Is Lifeblood of Capitalism- Yes We Can Drill Our Way Out - On the way to changing over

Thank you T Boone Pickens For Taking Lead on National Discussion!

I dont agree with you here. We have billions of gallons on US Soil and Lands. We are being held hostage by the EPA, Democrats and Liberals in our own country.

Wind, Nuclear and Solar will not drive our cars, trucks, trains and ships.

We have to give incentive to oil companies to drill now in Anwar, Off Shore and Oil Shale. The President should declare a national emergency and take control away from the Congress.

It will take decades to switch to Natual Gas. In my area the closest station for National Gas station is 70 miles away.

We must drill NOW. We are held hostage by the muslim countries and dictators around the world. We can drill our way out.

It was the DOT COM BOOM, followed by the HOUSING BOOM...and now the OIL BOOM......all ended up busting.......

This will BUST the moment we start pulling oil out of the ground.

Go to the grocery store. Every item in the store took OIL to get it to the store. It took OIL to produce it. It took OIL to get it home.

This is NOT an electricity problem. It is an OIL problem.

Drill Now Drill Here and Pay Less.

American Oil, American Lands, American Companies and American Jobs.

Your crusade is folly. Oil is dead and on the decline.

The great depression part II will be caused by high oil- we cannot get off fast enough-
OUR ONLY SHORT TERM OPTION 2-10 years is to drill -

You act as if there is no cost to oil other than the finding, refining and purchase. There is HUGE cost to the planet for using oil you seem to simply ignore. Or choose to ignore. Oil is simply not sustainable in the long run and we must get away from it NOW. I'm in line for an electric car so I can live without oil as much as possible. Get real. Your mentality is dead.

this is part of the soltion not all of the solution

Great Great Great.

Find out what speculation is before you criticize.

A liberal Congress is the problem.

Use the national guard to protect drilling sites from the EPA (Environmental Prevention Agency).

This is a war against the environmentalists and a left leaning congress. Not a shooting one yet.

What if they don't do anything?

Actually, we can indirectly power our vehicles with Nuclear Power, but it has to be converted to an energy source that we can use. Hydrogen should become the fuel of choice for our transportation needs. See the website below from the Department of Energy.

http://www.energy.gov/energysources/hydrogen.htm
"Hydrogen is a clean energy carrier (like electricity) made from diverse domestic resources such as renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geothermal), nuclear energy, and fossil energy (combined with carbon capture/sequestration). Hydrogen in the long-term will simultaneously reduce dependence on foreign oil and emissions of greenhouse gases and criteria pollutants."

WRONG!

Forget oil, buddy. No matter how much you drill, the world has reached its peak supply. Even if we did drill in ANWR and the continental shelf, it would take 10-20 years to see negligible benefits, and many, many costs.

Tim, a nat gas powered vehicle might not be a good solution for someone in Florida, but here in Texas it would be a good solution. Think of what would happen if the US reduces it's demand for oil by 3 million barrels/day - that would be a savings of approx $150 billion/year spent on oil.

As for electric cars, a guy in my office has a Tesla - granted it costs too much and it has a limited range, but all-electric or electric hybrids do seem to be the future for commuter vehicles. Which means that it is an electricity problem.

Drilling our way out? Hey I'm from Texas, I have nothing against drilling, but you're dreaming if you think that's a long term solution to the oil supply problem. At best we could possibly increase our production from 7 million barrels/day to 9 million barrels/day; demand is 19 to 20 million barrels/day - so you've reduced expenditures on foreign oil by $100 billion. It's better than nothing, but it's not a solution by itself.

Oil makes "tires" and tires produce our modern "economy". Behold it is in everything!. Give me a break! Those oil companies you talk about, drilled all over the western US, during the 70s and 80's. There are areas of large pockets of oil and natural gas that was discovered and then those "Oil Company Executives flew out to the field, had those wells capped, and wrote 20, 40 and 60 years on the seimic readouts. Thus, they will not drill again until those years pass. Those resources are not all off shore or in the artic wilderness. Those resources are in our back yard. Now, convince Shell,Texaco and Exxon to release those findings and get back drilling. Most of the seismic drilling crews were shut down in 1981 by President Reagan when he did away with the windfall profit tax. I saw Dawson Geophysical park all thier vehicles and drills in Odessa in one day and never went back to work. Most drilling companies went out of business or to stay alive we started drilling water wells instead. Conventional Drills that were new or barely new in 1976 or 1980 are obsolute now due to limited drilling pipe lengths. But those conventional rigs found the oil and gas with the pipes they had, so its not that deep. Depth is what all oil companies look at first. Then they try to figure out how to get it out. The big rigs who can go deeper are also owned by "others" and not "Americans" so who has the hidden agenda and whats the total cost?
Electric cars are useless for long distance driving. Make a nuclear engine for a car or truck and you are a great creator going towards warp power.

You are looking too short term. Worldwide oil supplies are diminishing. Even if we drill offshore, that is an incredibly short sighted solution. Sure in around 10 years we may see a reduction in price, but that will only be temporary if it happens at all. You can't just go offshore and start drilling. Many of the drill attempts come up dry, it's incredibly expensive to drill for oil. We need to start thinkin of ways to eliminate our use of oil.

Wind farms are a great way to reduce our pollution levels and slow global warming, and once they are built, they are much cheaper to maintain than say a coal plant. Once we see the reduced cost of power in this country, the price of oil will not be as much of a burden, as not only your household power bill will be reduced, but the power bills of all companies will be as well.... If we are searching for and actively implementing new methods to power our vehicles, we can start to reduce our consumption and ideally be well on our way to getting off oil in the next 10-20 years.

First thing that comes to my mind is that if we go completely wind/solar/renewable energy that does not pollute, then we can start thinking realistically about electrically powered vehicles....using super-capacitors instead of batteries...

Stop thinking shortsightedly

As you know oil is not a renewable once it is gone. Even if we start drilling within the next year it still will not be enough! We as a country have to become energy independent no matter what or how much it costs. If we take all the millions of dollars that our government dowels out yearly to stupid agenda's maybe we would have money for this. Do you hear either Sen. McCain or Sen. Obama addressing this very big problem???? I don't!!! I for one back Mr. Pickens altho not perfect, but it is a start. I think of the jobs it would create and the best yet we wouldn't need Saudi's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or anyone else.
