Hi, Everybody. I'm posting a means to lower your use of natural gas, oil and electricity to heat your home, shop or business. I have designed, applied and used this "Stupidly simple system" to five business for 25 years and change the heating costs of $100 a day to $1 a day for 25 years.
The comparison is my building equaled 8 homes of 2,000 square feet and I heated it using "Passive Solar Heating" since 1984 for a dollar a day, (1.00) per day,
My original system cost about $50 in 1984. Today THE SAME SYSTEM COSTS $ 98.69 FROM EITHER HOME DEPOT OR LOWES!
The information enclosed in the following article is as of 08/19/08 for the actual cost to use in your home or business. Look at actual system's as shown in the following posting.

Lets take a simple leap and “YOU” fill in the math.
You live in a typical 1500 sq. ft. home and your heating bill per month to maintain a comfortable level of “72 degree’s” costs you $250 (Kelso Wash) August 24, 2008, per month.
You COULD spend $3000 per year.
(The cost shown of $250 per month is from an actual 1000 sq. ft house using electrical Baseboard heater (Smaller then typical)
NOW let’s leap ten years forward and you have spent $30,000 to heat your home.
Now, today you spend $125 and install an individual Attic Solar Heating system, which saves you $100 a month. In ten years you could save $12,000 or decide to simply sit in your chair and know that your “Heating Bills will never increase” AND spend your $30,000 heating your home.
This simple effort doesn’t require you install “Solar Panels” and figure out how to purchase product, install on your roof, “tap into your Electrical System” and purchase the specific “Electrical Connections required by State Rules”. State laws also require a certified Electrical Contractor to “TAP” into your system and they usually charge $150 and hour.
NOW you have created a system to produce electrical power to operate some system or hope you can sell your “Excess” power to your local utility company?
Now you have a group of simple decisions?
1. Will my roof system be damaged and leak water into my house?
2. What happens when something damages your “Solar Electrical” system and it quits?
3. When the sun doesn’t shine on your “Panel’s”, will it heat your house or operate some electrical item?
4. Does it operate at night and produce power?
5. Will the voltage be stable?
I know these problems “will never occur” and your system will operate for the next “Ten years and you will recover your investment of an indeterminate amount” (BUT did you save any money?}
Now the “Panel System” has to be replaced, as it is possible that it will fail to function, be damaged with objects striking the glass panels or some other problem?
Who buy’s “Used” solar panel systems?
Now the operational costs of your “Passive Solar System” has required no repairs, or changes and it simply “HELPS” to heat your home?

IF you have a “Downdraft” furnace system you only need part #36441 (the insulated Ducting) and Separate Electrical Control to operate the sensor to turn on the “fan motor of your current downdraft hot air system” and it will distribute the “FREE” solar throughout “YOUR” complete HOME
Your “DOWNDRAFT” system could cost $38.69 for ducting and $60 for sensor unit or a total of $98.69 PLUS your labor and misc. ducting supports and or sealing duct tape for any joints.

As a side note you can actually "Passively solar Cool" your home or business as I have accomplished that in Vancouver Wa. for 20 years and this building equals 14 houses of 2000 sq. feet and has averaged about $1.15 per day. Everything shown and talked about did happen and continues to occur daily.
The methods used are simple and have not required repairs, changes and NO human intervention to make it work. It requires you to do something or simply sit in your chair and watch the world go by?

Hi Anachronism,
I'm so excited about your practical idea for home heating for my family and daughters' too. But, I have a big favor to ask since both me and my husband have absolutely no knowledge of venting or electricity. Could you please put in some photos of this passive solar device? Combined with your written explanation already posted, I think we'd be in a position to give this a try. One more request; would it be ok to ask you for help if we run into problems?

I can almost picture it. Can you direct me to someplace that will help me to picture it all the way? We have gone to an outside wood furnace to help heal our hurting wallet, but that's still not carbon free. I like simple and I like cheap. So far, so good.

Thanks for the direction. Hope you're enjoying our new group and the Pickens Project in general.
On another topic, it appears that Congress will approve off-shore drilling, but there has not been, to date, any big push for the right kind of drilling. Also I really don't know where our larger natural gas reserves are located and what major companies own the rights to those reserves. It may be that large US natural gas reserves are found, primarily, w/in the lower 48 states. If so, wouldn't that be a less expensive and greener option. Don't we need to tell Congress to pass legislation limiting the sale of US natural gas reserves to American companies supplying the resource to those living w/in the US? We should check with the Pickens/Utah group as I read on another website that many of them are driving natural gas vehicles and paying the equivalent of $00.65/gal. Further, people can buy conversion kits to begin to use the product w/out having to buy a new car.

Hi Veronica,
One of the largest Natural Gas fields discovered and no now being tapped is the "Haynesville Shale" in Western Louisianna and East Texas. I have some friends in East Texas that have gone from "rags to riches" as a result. Yes I think we should have some way of making sure it gets used in the good ole U S of A.

Thanks, Wayne, for keeping me up-to-date on the location of our larger natural gas deposits. Louisiana, in particular, is such a poor state with lots of political corruption. Sure hope local residents get jobs through this "Haynesville Shale" project.
Do you drive a car powered by natural gas or will you do so in the future? During one web search I did recently, I found a Denver location where petro-cars can be modified to run on natural gas. I will look for it and others, then forward those to you in case members are searching for the option. I'll also check on the cost for the conversion. -

I do not currently drive a NG powered car. I have a car that gets decent gas mileage (27-28 hwy). I have no immediate plans to purchase a car. When I do I will consider all options in the process.

Hi, Veronica: enclosing a method for you and all your friends can use to save and KEEP money in your pocket. I have practiced it for the last 12 months and it works.
This letter outlines a Simple “5 Step Process” to do your part to help save 75,000,000 Million gallons of MOTOR OIL every year!
This process requires all of us to understand HOW to accomplish this and ALL of us can “START TODAY”. (In this example I’m ONLY using Wal Mart’s volume of oil used yearly as it’s public record and they are the largest “TLE” business, according to public records, Wal-Mart, 3,185 TLE’s, around the world, change oil in both cars and truck approaching 60,451,300 vehicles yearly.
This “Simple Process” starts during your next visit to your friendly “TLE, Jiffy Lube, Oil Can Henry’s or any other location” you typically use when changing your oil every “3,000” miles.
Step 1. YOU simply request or purchase your “MOBIL 1”, Full Synthetic, MOBIL 1/EXTENDED PERFORMANCE” MOTOR OIL” readily available in either “10W-30 or 10W-5. These SYNTHETIC OIL weight’s covers 95% of all engines CURRENTLY used IN ALL VEHICLES. (Currently available for $29.88 w/tax) at your local Wal Mart store)
Step 2. Bring your new “Mobil Extended Performance”, High Efficiency and High Capacity Oil Filter (costs $11.25 w/tax). (Available at all SCHUCK’S, NAPA, NATIONAL, CARQUEST or other national auto suppliers”.) The above oil is sold by quart if needed. If your rig uses more then 5 quarts, then you need a little extra?

I worked in this industry and or for Wal Mart for 15 months and carefully documented all the information displayed.
Yes, it is true in all respects as to the amount of oil per user to “DECREASE” the amount of imported/domestic oil usage by the simple alteration of “Inputted” actions and our lack of same induced by the companies polices to maintain their “Market Share” and the “Easy” cash flow derived.
The underlying business element is related to the sale of “Batteries, Tire’s and sundry supplies with a 100% “Plus markup which is totally derived from the “Oil Change” which is a “Loss Leader” to drive overall sales in the store. You “ DRIVE IN” alone or your family as three other occupants with you and “Wait” for “YOUR” car which derives a “SUPER” bonus by having a captive “Customer Group” for an average of 45 minutes per client’s car.
If the workload time frame exceeds, 45 minutes, per vehicle they “MAY” give you a “discount “if” you complain. The discount could be 10% or $3.00, BUT they have captured you in their “Store” for other sales and they “Gladly” give you the refund. Only 1% ever complain about the time and people gladly “Sit and Wait” or shop.
