I'm interested in starting a discussion regarding a link I recently saw on Discovery's website where there is a report that wind turbines are causing the death of bats through barotrauma.

It has been reported that a University of Calgary study on wind turbines and bat deaths was caused by low pressure which injures their lung rather than by impact with the blades. We all know the effect of hydropower and the plight of the salmon. And there is that awkward relationship with biodiesel and corn prices. It seems that whenever something is introduced there is the possibility of unintended consequences.
It is like running over another bump in the road of change.

What was not reported in the press that there is a working partnership between Bats Conservation International, American Wind Energy Association, National Renewable Energy Lab, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service towards finding a deterrent for bats deaths caused by wind turbines.

Thank you Russell for a balanced opinion with problem solving information.
There is already a string on here about bat deaths.
Why are you starting another?????
Can you point me to this discussion? The only other thread I found was started 28-Aug.
