It seems all the energy plans these days are calling for significant energy conservation, and small steps toward making the energy we use "green". Obama has said we need to, first, pick the lowest hanging apple, that is, reducing our energy consumption. This is wrong. The lowest hanging apple is also the poisoned apple. Our efforts should be focused toward providing our energy needs through alternative sources, rather than reducing our consumption. Our focus on reducing consumption should be a secondary.

The reason why, is our economy is driven by energy. We use energy to produce and process everything we consume or need. If we decrease our energy consumption, we slow down our economy. Our economy is dependent on energy, absolutely. We use energy to build houses, produce metals and wood, till corn fields, etc. If we no longer have this resource to produce these goods, be prepared for housing prices, food prices, automobile prices, and the price of every other commodity we enjoy to increase even further.

There is no question we have the resources, money, and technology to replace our energy needs within the next few decades, the trick is putting our vast wealth toward long lasting alternative energy, rather than crutches like further oil drilling.

My point is, America is the greatest, richest, and most technologically advanced country in the world. We have the resources to provide all our energy needs through alternative sources. Lets go green the American way, by providing for our needs through clean alternatives, rather than changing our lifestyles to accomodate a diminishing fuel supply.

We don't need screamin' Garcia's either. So far to date, he's screamed on here, every FAR LEFT lliberal accusation from the radio shows that have been generated over the last 7.5 years, with no substantial proof at all, and even ignores facts requitted by his own political party.

America is broken, not nearly as bad as you think, or our economy could have never surged the way it did during a War effort, only to finally take a big hit when Oil prices jumped and junk mortgages came to light. (This was published as a factual report in both the Wall Street Journal 5/07 and the Washignton Post 9/07).

Some screamin' babies should never have access to the Internet.
Well put.......... Energy is needed for everything that will move us forward. Inflating our tire will help, but the next day we will still need energy and the next and so on. Hydrogen cars are a decade away aleast, how do we get there walk, what factory will build them design them on an abacus. If one on these candidates would stand tall like Reagan, Kennedy, Roosevelt and just say we will do this by this date all Americans would stand tall and follow, myself included. Until then I stand will Pickens the only voice I have heard so far in an election year.
And even moreso, Clinton, who's looking the other way to Arab economic powerplays at that time, and his bribes from China, left him too busy to do anything about it.
What a lying rear-end orifice. I hold more degrees than you in Political Science twerp, and you'll be seeing more of me on the web soon. Go run and hide when I strike a light your way... You pervert concepts, ignore establised and documented facts you claim to be in possesion of, and even trod down paths your own fellow liberals got smart enough to avoid further lying about.

Republicans are not perfect, but they are in a far better position and ability right now to fix our energy concerns, and the economy.
Yep, Reagan screwed up covering the IRAN-Contra deal, and North, who admittedly is a bit goofy, carried out his orders knowing of the Congressional impropriety.

If Reagan had just come out and told Congress what he was doing, the oversight violation would not exist, and using one tyrant's money to fight communist ravagers in another country, would have been seen as sheer genius.

Dude, your energy plan sucks, your history and politics are so warped, it is pathetic. Get back into your little white room and take your meds like you should be doing. You know, the lower-quality meds that leave you so angry, that the DNC plan paid for?
Garcia drowns us in s***.
Who has a plan Bush, Pelosi. They have been talking for 2 years....nothing not a pipe in the ground or a sail in the air. Who is doing anythins. I can't find Garcias page, but even a bad plan is better then the plan we've had. So far both candidates haven't said anything to stop me from believing that someone else must stand up. No govt has accomplished anything equal to the greatness of individuals striving to make a profit. The govt spent so much money to go to the moon, but free enterprise has fill our orbit with useful devices that has shrunk the world.
Let free markets rule the earth. Socialist and Communist have accomplished nothing.
You got it Marlene, thanks for the simple clarity. This was my response to the trash-talking, no substance Garcia:

You lie beyond the common immaturity and angry denials of the democratic party. The Democrats themselves called the town "of 9000 people..." just over the national airwaves less than 48 hours ago. If they are wrong again, well, who would predict that?

John McCain's first wife reported to the Washington Post, February of 2000, during his first election run, that calling him a cheater "was not in full reference of the facts, and that she made mistakes too, that are not accounted for in any accusations of his being called a cheater." Wow, an ex-wife making that claim of clarity, where was this sovereign idiot Michael Garcia then???

The New York Times retracted ALL indications that Senator McCain even had the probability of cheating on his second wife Cindy. Fact, your source already ran and hid after the ambush attempt, not long after endorsing McCain as the Republican to run for President, but no...... little Garcia's can't show their face in the light of truth. Smears are all you can attempt.

Palin did not steal tax dollars for any home. The 30 DNC lawyers and press investigators had that wiped from their books before they flew out to Alaska 36 hours ago. You are the liar, you need the pulpit or you feel as you must always feel, very inadeqaute. If the allegation hungry lawyers dropped that, well Michael Garcia knows better than even leftist lawyers eh??

McCain has fought Bush so many times, before the late Tim Russert died, both he and Tim Scarborough of NBC, original democrats both, warned national viewers and Matt Lauer on the Today Show, that the democrats labeling of McCain as just "more of Bush" would not work, that his record clearly showed reforms and his fights over the improper portions of the Bush Administrations policies and decisions.

The democrats can't even decide on the overall percetage they say McCain voted with Bush (92-97% now), when the voting record actually shows only an 81% vote-with rate over the last 7 years. The votes he objected with Bush on? (# of troops in Iraq, pollution and global warming issues, modifying the tax cuts to help the lower middle class more and not the upper class, education reforms, import tariffs to protect US employees, oh yeah, all of the issues the democrats are trying to use against Bush and McCain now....) Too bad my fav' Tim Russert died, not only was he dearly loved by most, he'd still be saying this now.

And I believe Tim knew more about it all than you do.

Lightweight? Junior at least I come with facts anyone can verify, you toss mindless and cruel allegations, that have no proof, and show your brainless style about how the government owes you money, and it must be Bush and McCains' fault your check is not already in the mail.

McCain dropped bombs in the line of duty, for his country, and fought in his post-war years to bring stability, aid and a military re-organization both to Viet Name and at home, to avoid future war abuses that Viet Nam exposed. You would never qualify to perform duty to your country, which others provide you the freedom to avoid doing. You only complain and blame others without fact or substance. Pathetic, simply Obama-like Pathetic.

Palin did put the Jet up on Ebay, never said she actually sold it there, that was McCain's advisor-gaff. You can't even get that right. The $750 in 'earmarks' well now, guess what is the #2 accusation the democrat's lawyers in Alaska have dropped? Seems that can't be proven either. Who are you really Garcia? The only one I've seen make such careless and un-substantiated remarks is Keith Oberman. OOOPS, didn't he just get demoted, since the truth did not work for him either?

You ought to leave the site, T. Boone must be suffering serious indigestion right now, reviewing over your mindless remarks on his website.
This guy at least learned copy-n-paste, eh folks?
He's obsessed with lies and partisanship Gabrielle, he can't see past any of himself, even though his party publicly stays away from over half of his rant topics.
I agree with half of what you're saying. The half about supplying our energy needs with reducing consumption as secondary. I also agree that we need to be moving toward new technologies but, in the meantime, I think we need to drill everywhere we can in an environmentally protective way. Once we've met our needs and especially as we move away from petroleum based fuels and products, we can begin to sell our excess to China to pay off our huge debt to them. This has to be done to save our dollar and our economy. The U.S. doesn't have any exportable products any more. It's either this or face the very real possibility of the U.S. being insolvent in the very near future. We can't just keep printing money; there has to be something to back it up or it's just paper. We use oil in almost everything, not just gasoline. Let's all look around us and figure out some way to conserve on the OTHER things made from oil. How much oil could we conserve if we start using the one or two brands of laundry detergent that are not petroleum based, or vegetable based plastics? Let's save the oil for the things that absolutely must be made from oil; it could make a difference.
I'm not saying not to conserve oil, but our countries economics should move us to lead the way. We are going to sell nuclear plants to India and wont build one here? I do not no who wants it in their back yard, but a third world nation will buy our old ideas. Couldn't we come up with a place to put it if it reduces our dependance on Russia, middle east, venezula. I rather give the same dollar amount to the Brits for free just for standing tall with us.
