The Clean Vehicle Education Foundation and NGV America will be holding a natural gas vehicle workshop at the Energen Plaza (Alagasco) building in downtown Birmingham next Thursday, July 23, 2009.

You can register for the workshop by going to:

http://www.cleanvehicle.org/workshop/birmingham.shtml

Registration for this event is $60.00. This same seminar has been well attended in other cities around the country, so the workshop is expected to fill up fast.

I can assure you the Workshop is well done and will provide you with all of the information you'll need to determine if natural gas is the right fuel for your fleet. Call me if you have any questions - 205.402.2755.

I'm a fan for CNG automobiles. Honda NOW has a CNG car, built right here in the old USA at their Marysville, OH plant.
To make this work for us average consumers (vs.fleet operations), we need HOME filling stations. Guess what, they DO exist and have been available for a number of years. The 'filling station' is needed to take the low pressure side of your gas regulator output, feed it thru a pump to increase the pressure to fill the COMPRESSED tank in the car.. The problem is, these filling stations cost about $4K to $5K. What we need is a tax break for CNG cars and CNG HOME filling stations.
BTW...even Mr. Pickens and his friend from Chesapeake Energy haven't mentioned that there is a HUGE gas boom in north central Texas...called the Barnett Shale Project. This is about 8 counties north and south of Ft. Worth that contain gas embedded in shale. With recent drilling technologies, one well can drill horizontally and tap several places from one drilling (this avoids having to drill multiple wells in a small area). In addition, they have developed methods to fracture the shale and force out the gas using CO2(?) which can be separated out and recycled. As Boone has said WE HAVE GAS!
Rudy, thank you for your post. Our Compelling Case for natural Gas Vehicles Workshop yesterday saw 100 interested folks from...fleets, municipalities, Local and State agencies, CNG providers, etc learn about all aspects of compressed natural gas as a motor fuel. A great turnout, for a first time in Birmingham event such as this. While, as a Clean Cities coalition we have held numerous workshops in Alabama highlighting ALL alternative fuel options this was the FIRST to concentrate solely on CNG. We were very pleased. And, most importantly, the attendees expressed a great deal of interest and appreciation for the information presented.

We were pleased to have representatives from Honda and a number of other vendors offering cars, transit buses, conversion services (vehicle and infrastructure), etc on site with vehicles to complement our full day agenda.

A copy of the Press Release is attached. Photos from the event will be up on our website..www.AlabamaCleanFuels.org the beginning of the week and all powerpoints will be available shortly thereafter.

The in home fueling equipment is available now and does have a significant tax incentive available.

Thanks also for your input regarding the Barnett Shale Project....this was covered in the presentation. Stephe Yborra, Director of Market analysis, Education and Communications for the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, did a fantastic job facilitating the Workshop.
