Concerns about Natural Gas extraction methods from shale

I have been hearing a lot lately about extracting natural gas from shale and a method called fracting. I am concerned about the chemicals used in this process and what kind of enviromental and human health damage that it might cause. I centainly want to get our country away from dependence on OPEC oil but we need to be cautious about how we do it so as not to cause an enviromental or human disaster. Does anyone have more information regarding these extraction methods and the potential harm that the pose?

It tells me what is in the fluid and that is information.

I would say it is the natural gas getting into the ground water that is the main problem.
