My husband want to start our new home this spring and plan to use as much energy efficient ideas as are available and feasible in our area of Tennessee. Right now we plan to use ICF construction, geothermal & radiant heating. Would like to know if info available on wind and solar in our area and is there any incentives or grants available with any of this energy efficient construction techniques. Any available information would b appreciated.

I'll bet you get enough sun to make it worth while to put solar panels (photo voltaics, for lights and computer power) on the roof. With a n inverter, and batteries, my ssystem cost me $14750 for a three bedroom home. Recently, with a bought of horrible weather---daya after day of just rain---I put four more panels up and now the system is doing great. It even runs my big Sears refrigerator, and the flat screen TV and the computer. Just had a washing machine delivered today.

And remember that after that cash outlay, NO MORE ELECTRIC BILL. If you look at the Solar power is Here, Use it! Discussion here on Alternative Energy Forum you will see 8 months of comments and discussion. I am on my second solar powered home now, the first was built in 1997. THen I moved closer to the big city and built again.
