Hi,
Back when the ads started running on the television, I was excited about the message. But ever since T. Boone pulled his plan to do a wind farm in TX, I've been having my doubts about the whole movement. I'm no less committed to clean energy, but less committed to T. Boone and his "army".
If you're going to pull the plug on a development because of a state gov't financing issue, then you're not really committed to the challenge, Mr. Pickens. I have wondered from the start who would benefit financially from a project like this. My guess is Pickens Inc. The army does the political work: swaying politicians who funnel gov't dollars for subsidies and tax incentives and Pickens Inc. solidifies its bottom line. But when the politics don't yield more than rhetoric and lip service from politicians, Pickens Inc. pulls out.
My suggestion is this: form a co-op with the members of your army that will pony up the dollars to make things happen. When we committed our time and energy to the idea, we expected our governments to fall in line. They have not. So, like any pilgrims seeking a better way and freedom from oppression, let's start out on our own and do it ourselves. Sell shares in a company seeking to implement the plan already nixed. I would be willing to invest in a 'shovel-ready' plan.
Mr. Boone, if you're going to continue to implore these like-minded Americans to support your movement, that presumably you will be the one to profit financially from, allow us to play on the team that will reap more that just 'feel-good" rewards.
I'm interested in hearing other points of view.
Regards,
TW Maynard
