Today, Friday, June 15, 2012 I just converted to Natural Gas. I got a new range, hot water heater and fire place. All Natural Gas. Piedmont Natural Gas came to the Outer Banks in 2008. At first they only wanted comercial customers, but I waited. Today my gas meter was set and I feel that now I am part of the solution.
Everyone who converts to Natural Gas please post.
Thanks

We have no public fuel station anywhere near us. Nor is NG available in houses in our rural area.
Thanks for your efforts.

Permalink Reply by Robert S Culpepper on June 20, 2012 at 10:08pm I am thinking Phil is too slow for our two vans & a truck. I am looking for an internal combustion Nat Gas powered compressor probably 30 - 50hp. I saw an interesting looking farm system which I am investigating. If you know of any please reply. I curently have 2psi Nat Gas, but I can increase to 5psi or more if necessary. The nearest Nat Gas station is 75miles away in Norfolk, VA.
My next conversion will be the cloths dryer. I am also looking into gas lighting for power outages. I have found one for under $80, indoors and consumes only 2cf per hour. It has a mantle. It is equivalent to a 13 watt CFL bulb.
I am also looking at emergency generators. They are very expensive and hopefully used seldom.
Permalink Reply by Robert S Culpepper on August 11, 2012 at 1:09am Today is Aug 11. I have had Natural gas for over a month and a half. I just got my first full month's bill. Natural gas is costing me about one third what propane was costing me. I'm loving it. Natural gas is the way to go.
It has been so hot this summer. I am glad that I have reduced my carbon footprint by switching to Natural gas. Maybe I can make a difference. You can too. Please switch to Natural gas.
Permalink Reply by Robert S Culpepper on December 18, 2012 at 6:22pm Just got my first NatGas bill after using the 36000BTU fire logs for most of the month. The gas bill was only $45. Our gas bill had been running $25. Natural Gas is really the least expensive. Even a Geothermal heat pump was running over $100 a month. Natural Gas is a very good idea.
