Well Hurrah for progress, however, why did it take so long to come together...we have known for a long while that the natural gas in the U.S. is so prolific that we pump it back into the ground! Is it that there was a time frame to move with this information? We had to suffer while the people we get oil from get their quota...or oil profits here got to a certain point? I don't get it. The biggest imports of oil is Canada and Mexico. We could have some time back cut our imports from Opec. Peoples Gas runs its' vans on nat. gas so I see no reason why a big rig can't run on it. I do not believe that there is any oil shortage either. I believe that we need to cut loose on deals made to send the wealth out of this country for what we already have. How did the man who is making millions on the falacy of global warming (man's involvement is small) get in on this? Carbon footprint? I hear that his is hugh.

HI Beverly,

I think with all things, change doesn't happen overnight. Before change, we need education and awareness. There were deep seated interests in foreign oil so I suspect that awareness for clean energy options came slow.

The good news - we are now changing. Slowly, perhaps, but I feel this is the right time.

This video is so wonderful in that it shows that Americans can work together for the common good of our country. It is so discouraging to watch the health care debate and the scare tactics being used and this seems the norm, but this Las Vegas conference is a confirmation of hope that Boone and his army can get our country energy independent. Brazil did it, so why can't America do it? Thank you, Boone Pickens, for your vision and dedication.

It scares me when elitists like Al Gore call T.Boone'friend"I can only hope real gains are made for common Americans. My only fear is that by the time Harry Reid is done with the new bill;the taxes and added on pork will shoot down any tangeble benefit for middle and low income people.

Amen brother. By the time Harry Reid gets through with this bill it will be so laden with special interest and pork that it will end up hurting the country. Its too bad to, because Pickens is really on to something here. I believe it is our answer to the future energy needs in this country. Harry Reid just needs to think about the country first and his re election and his own special interest second on this one.

Harry will not write the bill nor pass the bill, that is done in committees made up of members from both parties. If there are any extras put in and items take out it will be done there by Congress members acting on behalf of special interests. If you want that to stop, you will have to contact those members and ask that they not do that.

Harry has been for renewable energy as long as I can remember. For years he has spoken to the people of Nevada about more efficient use of energy and renewable energy as good policy. He would not have had that conference if he did not believe this was an important issue to be addressed now.

your side lost and they are now starting to turn on each other (Rove on Cheney and Cheney on Bush) so get over it and try to help rebuild America from the mess created in the last eight years. Remember, Bush started with a surplus.

Janet, My side? My side is America first. My side is Independant. Get over it? I was never on it. I am the first person to say that Bush and Darth Vader have put us in a bad situation. Buts lets remember that congress is at least 50% to blame, both sides. They are the ones who spent and spent and spent. I live in Nevada and he is more interested in his special interest and lining the pockets of his "buddies" than helping Americans. Coyote Springs development, the bullet train, stealing water from farmers in northern Nevada, just to name a few. Trust me when I say that Reid will find a way to attach a ton of pork to a bill that could help us in ways we have only dreamed.

I am happy to hear you are an Independent voter because we should make both parties work for our votes and sorry to have misinterpreted your comments. We want the same thing: what's best for America. About pork being attached to a bill for energy independence, we citizens are going to have to become more viligant regarding members of Congress and demand they pass laws that are good for America or vote them out of office, and I will pay more attention to Reid because you sound well informed.

I wiss more people thought like this. What's best for America. Have a great evening.
