This is propoganda which has a negative impact on many people and sadly results in less informed supporters of the Pickens Plan. It is my hope that this issue would be addressed in some of the media events where Boone has the opportunity.

"technically recoverable oil"
The tar sands of Canada are technically recoverable, if the price of oil is high enough and you do not mind the water use and pollution. The U.S.G.S. is always saying that there are lots of reserves. Their estimates are almost always on the high side so they need to be taken with a track record offset in mind.
Almost everyone will acknowledge that fossil fuels are finite. We know that they were formed over millions of years and we have used most of them up over the last 5 decades. This is a fact that people can not just brush away. Even IF you do not believe in Global Warming and Climate Change, you can not refute that some day we will run out of fossil fuels. We can wait until then and scramble or plan ahead. I would prefer to plan ahead.
Hi RWC: I'm unsure which "this" you are referring to, but I'm quite sure that T Boone Pickens figured it was unlikely that Pickens plan would make him even a tiny amount of money, before he died of old age. More likely Pickens is disappointed with his large monetarily loss from Pickens plan and the slow response of The USA government.
My guess is Pickens is not pushing tar sands, as he wants to concentrate on wind and CNG = compressed natural gas. Trying to do too many things simultaneously often results in little progress on anything. Neil
The point I was trying to make is that the propaganda mungers out there are quite effective at leading people to believe that there is plenty of oil and we need to do nothing. I believe we could attract many supporters of the Pickens cause if some of these miths were addressed in the media.
