Breeze blowing on a sunny day can be a heartening sight for many of us. But understanding how it is caused may require more inquisitiveness on our part. It is surprising to know that this wind carries within it, humongous amounts of power that is capable of fulfilling the world energy demands, many times over.
The wind power has been used to generate electricity since long. With the technologies in the field of wind energy on the rise, the sector is attracting a great deal of investor attention. The wind energy sector has been growing at a steady rate of 28% for the past five years. If this rate persists, the wind capacity will double about every three of four years.
The wind power investment opportunities are large. It is calculated that wind energy is the fastest growing energy source, in terms of percentage. The on-shore and off-shore potential of the wind power is found to be nearly 72 terawatts, which is five times the current energy use of the world. Being environment friendly, Wind power is not just a renewable source of energy but is also one of the cheapest and cleanest options available.
Anyone ever heard of an experimental but very simple rooftop wind system called I believe it was WIND TREE by an organization then/now?? called EcoQuest? Reason for asking is maybe ten years ago when I sat in on a meeting of it the prototype was finished but the waiting list to get in line to use the (noting) required wind tunnels to prove its effectiveness was the delay...point being could such a problem be the same these days that would bring such new devices to the open market that would bring down the prices of these proven ones that work but the common person can't hardly afford? For me it seems only the so called rich and famous, including Governments are getting the ones proven to work.
As for this then? EcoQuest as I understood it soon after you had to know somebody that knew somebody that knew somebody JUST to get in their site and the same somebody I knew in the upper chain of business command ain't talking...having even met one of their Scientists that created one of their best selling items. So if that same somebody is keeping up with this site and/or if there's anyone who might know somebody else and/or of whatever happened to this organizations WIND TREE device of their MANY such enviromental inventions it goes,in my opinion,to seriousness as Bandits when holding up progress.
Most places, most of the time, wind is a dilute energy source, so cheaper than dirty coal is unlikely. Small wind turbines produce small amounts of power. Big wind turbines, do a little better, but tend to be expensive partly because demand is exceeding supply. I think the windtree, I looked at a few months ago is likely the same company. Appearance is similar to a medium size tree, which makes it not an eyesore in most peoples mind. Likely the sound it makes is similar to a tree, which is a plus I doubt that these can be manufactured at low cost, but maybe, since fake Christmas trees are surprisingly cheap. They likely will not out perform wind turbines of similar size since less than half of the "leaves" have optimum orientation to the wind. Neil.
Thanks for the reply Niel if that's the tree. More there than anyone of that particular business was divulging then. I know this is off center but wouldn't it be nice if everyone could afford a little something or other as it was said of how much energy could be saved if everyone put just one of those pigtail light bulbs in their homes? Guess I'm thinking of a business that was environmentally inclined but for some reason went so called belly-up not long after opening here in Angola (Indiana).
They had a small wind turbine (maybe six foot high, blades maybe 4 foot across) just above the store front that was said powered the signs in the window. Remember the simple generator that could be installed on a bicycles front tire that generated enough juice to run the headlight?
Or in other words for the rag'n on about both of those simple matters is I just don't understand the such high costs of an wind turbine. Maybe someone getting their patents worth but comparable to like the Bandits when gas at the pumps went over $4.00 a gallon...but again, thanks for that info.
