$700 BILLION dollars per year - Let's keep it in America!

$700 billion is indeed a lot of money. Perhaps a trainload leaving the country this year. Imagine if it were kept in this country, it could pay for half of the Wall Street Bailout, gifts for Wall Street and their Congressional cohorts.

$700 billion is a huge amount of money. If it did not leave our Country every year it would

-come very close to balancing the budget, or even create a surplus
-it could pay for all the mortgage foreclosures and allow people to stay in their homes.
-it could buy 200,000 wind turbines a year, we need about 1.7 million, so in 8 years we would have all the wind power we need to provide all our electric needs
-it represent 7 million $100,000 a year paying jobs

and on and on. This outflow of money is creating golden cities in the middle east like Dubai. It is giving foreign countries money to buy US property and companies. It is causing the US to "print" money otherwise we will simply run out, this in turn creates other issues. It is sinking many US companies, has wiped out several $trillion in stock market value.

So why would we not want to be energy independent? There is no reason in the world, and it will take effort on everybodies part. Unfortunately the vast majority of people out there just don't give a darn, so we have an uphill road to convincing them otherwise, one person at a time.

$700 Billion would go a long way towards offering free health-care, improved education and overall higher standard of living to our citizens. It's a tragedy that we willingly send those funds overseas.
