Everyone knows that I have been designing a small scale wind turbine. I am at the point of being ready to prototype the unit. There are a few areas to be worked out, but that is best done, at least be me, during the build. I posted a drawing a few days ago of the basic design. Any comments on that would be welcomed.

I am going to build the prototype out of 8" PVC pipe. If anyone has a source for this, please let me know with a price. I only need 4 pieces 10 feet long. Other items such as screws, bolts, wire and steel square tube will also be needed.

If anyone can help, let me know price, location etc... so I can make arrangements to pick it up.

Thanks

I wanted to give you a little heads up, insider info on what’s about to happen in Arkansas. Boone has a special job for us!

Earlier this week, we launched a program targeting Senator Lincoln regarding the Renewable Electricity Standard.

We will target her using:

• Paid phone calls to constituents in their states encouraging them to call their Senator
• Emailing members of the army in Arkansas, asking them to send an email via the Pickens Plan website

We'd like to augment this with activity from our District Groups. In addition to generally pushing the groups to participate in the email program, we'd also like to do the following:

- Get you and members of the AR-02 to make phone calls to Senator Brownback
- Get letters to the editor placed in as many AR-02 papers as possible

We will begin running our new ad, Wind Power, throughout Arkansas. The ads and phone calls will be running for the next three weeks, so that gives us a limited amount of time to get everyone on board.

A little background on the Renewable Electricity Standard (RES):

America has the best wind power in the world. North Dakota alone has the potential to provide power for more than a quarter of the country! But we need a long-term national commitment – including a national renewable electricity standard – to spur the investment needed to tap this great energy resource.

A renewable electricity standard (RES) is a policy that calls for electric utilities to obtain a certain percentage of the electricity they supply from renewable energy resources, such as wind and solar power. 28 U.S. states already have RES policies. A national policy would enable all states to enjoy the benefits of renewable energy development. A national standard of 25% renewable electricity by the year 2025 offers a least-cost, market-friendly way to ensure that we meet an increasing share of America’s growing electricity needs with clean, domestic energy resources.

A national RES can be a boon to America’s economy and to your personal wallet. By making a national commitment to renewable energy, we will be giving businesses the certainty they need to invest in new wind energy manufacturing facilities, and to expand current ones - creating tens of thousands of new American jobs. Also, adding fixed-cost renewables to the electricity mix will help shield consumers from spikes in energy prices, potentially saving us as much as $100 billion in lower electricity and natural gas bills.

There are now bills in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives calling for 25% renewable electricity by 2025. A particularly important vote on a renewable electricity standard is expected to come up in the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee in late March or early April. Please contact your Senators and Representative to express your support for a national RES and to ask them to co-sponsor the leading RES proposals.

Home energy tax credits can save you thousands

$2,000 or More in Home Energy Tax Credits for Geothermal Pumps, Solar Energy Systems, Wind Turbines, or Fuel Cells
The economic stimulus bill removed the $2,000 cap that had applied to geothermal heat pumps, leaving in place the 30% tax rebate on qualified solar energy systems, geothermal heat pumps, small wind turbines, and fuel cell systems. Install all four and that's $8,000!
Ground-source heat pumps are installed underground and use the constant 50-degree subsurface temperature to cool air or water in the summer, and heat it in the winter — both of which reduce the cost of heating or cooling year-round.
The solar energy tax credit is now good through 2016. (See The Daily Green's Home Solar Panel Reviews: The Most Efficient and Best-Value Home Solar Panels.)
$500 Home Energy Tax Credits for Fuel Cells or Microturbines
The tax incentive that had covered 30% of the cost of fuel cell or microturbine systems in homes, which lapsed in 2008, has been restored for 2009 and through 2016. It covers up to $500 per 0.5 kW of capacity.

How many people are ready to recruit 1 new person?

Let get together and make sure we let the elected officials know that the people that elected them want action and answers.

Fire off some questions and comments and build AR-02.

Okay no more late night or early morning edits for me. I apologize for the misspellings and programmer and I hope you can figure it out.
The basic fact is there are a lot of places in Arkansas where a small scale wind energy system could help reduce the utility bills of many of the states residents.

I did a little research on the Energy Information Administration, A government agency tonight.I found that the latest data available is from 2007 and was released January of this year. According to the site the average electric usage for Arkansas
was 1,118 Kwh with an avg. price of 8.73 center per Kwh making the average bill $97.58.

This is where the small scale or personal wind system. If you take the max data rated output from a 2.5 Kw and can get that output in every hour fir 15 days, you can generate that 1118Kw you purchased. With a net metered system you get constant power feed you need for daily lining. If you work during the day your system is working for to moving your electric meter.

Check with your local provider ofr more information.

Have you looked at the system in the article in the Popular Mechanics Oct 2007 this looks like a good system to me but I thank that Ark . and Entergy should help defray the cost of installation.

Just joined AR-02. I like designing and building things. I want to build a small wind system.

Evening,

I just wanted to remind everyone about Boone’s call to arms. He has asked each member of the army to call our member of Congress and ask them to support the alternative energy components of the stimulus plan.

Here are some helpful talking points:

Urge them to tell House Leadership that their constituents support the wind energy elements included in the Stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector:

o Extension of the Production Tax Credit

o Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program

• We hope they're willing to doing more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America. Expanded use of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) will help wean us off of foreign oil and create new American jobs. These incentives include:

o Increasing the vehicle tax credit to make natural gas trucks more accessible for heavy and medium duty truck operators

o Extending the fuel tax credit

• The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan—wind and natural gas—and we hope Members of Congress will support that. The Stimulus Bill is a strong start but there's more we can—and should—do.

When you've made your call, please post a response to this discussion so I can keep track of how many calls have been made for each district!

Boone is counting on us. You can find the numbers to your elected officials below. Making a call is really quick, easy and satisfying. Make your calls today so I can report your hard work to Boone!

Senator Blanche Lincoln (202) 224-4843
Senator Mark Pryor (202) 224-2353

M.J.

Great question!

The Pickens Plan is a national alternative energy initiative lead by T. Boone Pickens. The Energy Party is a group of some New Energy Army members that has sprung up here on our Push site.

The Pickens Plan is officially non-partisan. We believe the energy crisis is a bi-partisan crisis that requires bi-partisan solutions. The Energy Party seems to be a group that wishes to start another political party. Feel free to check them out or join if you agree. However, rest assured they are seperate from the Pickens Plan.
