Hello again CA-03,

Here is a 200 word Letter to the Editor (LTE) that I submitted today online to the Idaho Statesman that you could use to jump start your LTE campaign.

I believe LTE's are a great way to spread the word about the Pickens Plan and recruit new members.

Let's move the PP front & center!

==========================================================

President Obama has called on Americans to serve in a new era of responsibility. In his inaugural speech he has challenged the country to unite and rework America in solving the many problems our country faces.

His challenge can be felt with his words: "Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real, they are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met."

We can support our President and join his www.whitehouse.gov and become an active member. This is a great opportunity to belong to the online grassroots movement that can unite us in changing America.

Here in Idaho, we can participate in another national online grassroots movement with local strength that is calling for an end to our counties dependence on foreign oil and begin using American solutions to secure our national security, convert to a green economy and end global warming.

Join our local Idaho districts and become active in The Pickens Plan which calls for a National Energy Policy within 100 days of the new term.

Dear Fellow Army Members in CA-03,

Listed below is a sample 200 word Letter to the Editor (LTE) for you to use as is or as a starting point in writing your own LTE about the Pickens Plan (PP).

I encourage you to take actions in getting the Pickens Plan out in your local/state areas so we can build the grassroots movement of ending our dependence on foreign oil. Submitting a LTE to your local newspaper is a great way to get started! Try submitting your letter online, most newspapers have this now.

Also, be on the lookout for energy online articles from your local newspaper that you could write a response to that discusses the Pickens Plan. I have found this to be a great way to "blog" about the benefits of the PP.

I must tell you that I was scared but determined when I wrote my 1st LTE, However, when it was published and you read your own words on public record, simply empowers you to do more good!

So... Lets get this grassroots movement started and post actions & success on the comment Wall for us to follow.

Thanks for your support of the PP!

p.s. I will help anybody with their LTE, just ask!

The Pickens Energy Plan outlines a course of action needed to end our dependence on foreign oil.

With almost 1.4 million supporters calling for a National Energy Plan within 100 day of the new term.

Why such an urgency you ask?

1. National Security: Importing 70% of our oil from foreign countries causes a transfer of wealth of $300 to $700 Billion a year used in support of terrorism.

2. Global Warming: Over 200 million U.S. vehicles release carbon dioxide emissions.

3. Economy: When OPEC raises the price of oil, it forces our economy into a recession.

The Pickens plan has the following key components:

A. Convert commercial vehicles to natural gas power.
B. Upgrade our electric grid.
C. Add solar and wind renewable energies to our grid.

We must work together to end our addiction to foreign oil.

President Obama has defined a clear national goal for the sake of our economy, our security, and the future of our planet, "In 10 years, we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East."

Let's show our support and commitment to our new President by joining and signing the Pledge at www.pickensplan.com

And let's request all of our elected officials to sign!

Hello Fellow Army Members in CA-03,

I would like to share a little about myself and why I joined the Army and volunteered as a District Leader.

Last July, I saw T. Boone Pickens TV ad about our country ending its dependence on foreign oil and it inspired me to make a commitment to helping our country get out of the mess we are in.

So I went to pickensplan.com read the plan and signed up just like you have done. Now I was creating a site about the smartcar (www.america-smartcar-guide.com) while watching gas prices soar over $4 a gallon and said to myself the Pickens Army needs to be organized so a nationwide grassroots movement can occur to help our next president put together a National Energy Policy (NEP) that includes the Pickens Plan.

This past December, PickensPlan.com began to organize the Army into Congressional Districts and I decided to be a part and volunteered in my district. I met Micah Lauer who also lives in Boise and realized the NW Region could lead our country in bringing the Pickens Plan front and center so it would be included in our country's first NEP.

Ok, The time is now with our new president to make the changes needed to get our country out of the mess it's in and we must do our part!

We must organize as a virtual national movement with local grassroots strength.

So the Army needs your actions so we can end our dependence on foreign oil.

Will you help your district, state, region and country in making the Pickens Plan happen?

The Army is strong!

Hello Fellow Army Members in CA-03,

I'm forwarding a letter from Micah Lauer our Regional Leader, He is asking for our support in writing Letters to the Editor (LTE). This is a great opportunity for us to promote the Pickens Plan as our New President takes office this Tuesday.

I will provide a 200 word sample letter as an example in my next post.

Thanks for your support and action,

I would like to extend a challenge!

There has been some great activity in our region with regard to letter to the editor and op-ed writing. Letters to the editor/op-eds have been published by Richard Wickberg (WA-05), Larry Sigurdson (OR-05), Phil Carver (OR-05) - upcoming article in a Feb. publication, John Cogar (OR-02), Jerry McDonald (MT-01), Ryan Jones (ID-02) - featured in an article locally and in the Wall Street Journal, Jim McCue (ID-01), and Gary Walker (CA-19). Way to go!

Several other district leaders have submitted letters to the editor. We're just waiting for them to be published. Another big thanks goes out to Grant Schott (OR-04) and Karen Ferguson (WA-03) for submitting letters to the editor.

I sure hope I didn't miss your letter. If so, please let me know ASAP!

CALL TO ACTION - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR AND OP-EDS

Let's be the first region of Pickens Plan district leaders to get a letter to the editor or op-ed published in EVERY district!

So far, we have LTE/op-ed published in 7 of 39 districts. With a little push, I am confident we can get a letter to the editor (or more) published in EVERY district in the next week.

If you have not yet submitted a letter to the editor or an op-ed, I am asking for your help. Attached to this email are some guidelines and suggestions for letters to the editor and op-eds. Writing a letter to the editor or op-ed is a simple task with a big pay-off. A letter that takes 10-20 minutes to write can be viewed by thousands of potential Pickens Plan supporters when published. I am more than happy to help edit/review letters if you would like.

In your letter, be sure to include a link to the push.pickensplan.com site and even a link to your district group.

When you submit a letter, please let me know:

where it was submitted

send a copy of the text
When you get a letter to the editor published, please let me know:

publication date
link to online copy (if available)
send a copy of the text (if you haven't sent it already)
Also, this is a great challenge to post on your district groups. Let's see how many letters we can get published!

Thanks again,
Micah

Hello Army members in CA-03,

My name is Jim McCue from ID-01 and I am working with our Regional Leader Micah Lauer to provide some assistance with launching our Vote "UP" campaign.

Our President Obama has invited citizens for ideas in his Citizen's Briefing Notebook. This is a great opportunity for us to take positive action and get the Pickens Plan front and center.

Lets get the Pickens Plan onto the 1st page of the Citizen's Briefing Notebook (CBN).

Access the CBN and vote "UP" the Pickens Plan.

1) Goto http://citizensbriefingbook.change.gov/

2) Sign in.

3) click on "start voting now"

4) In the Search box, type: "pickens plan" and hit the search button

5) This will list the ideas that we need to vote up, add comments to or add our own ideas about implementing the Pickens Plan. (Don't forget to sign as a member of the Pickens Plan Army for any comments/ideas you post!

The more votes, comments and ideas that bring the Pickens Plan to the top of the list, the better!

Lets get the "Greenest country in the world" as the #1 idea for our President to see in his CNB.

This is our chance to get our grassroots movement going for the Pickens Plan!

Thanks for your action and support,

Jim McCue

Hello CA-03;

We're looking for some leadership help! If you can help rally the troops in CA-03, please give me a shout. As a district leader, you will join hundreds of other Pickens Plan members who have made an extra committment to making the Pickens Plan become reality.

Our district goals are:
- new member recruitment
- letter to the editor/op-ed placement
- getting our U.S. Senators/Reps to sign the Pledge

Please let me know if you can help organize and get CA-03 working toward these goals. Send me an email and we can discuss! micah.lauer@pickensplan.com

Thanks,

I would say not to drill, unless it is for natural gas. Keep the oil for later when we really will need it. Deplete everyone else's first. We need to spend our resources on other energy sources we have at home.

I too converted an auto to battery electric and still drive it so with that in common I wounder how I could see things so differently from you? There is no need to go all caps that is like screaming at me hello i am right here ready to listen but not to screams! Yes we are past our world wide peak production but rather than drill, one possible alternative to oil is like pekins says natural gas or hydrogen made with sun light - no need to ruin the environment just change the way we think about energy. There is so much more I could comment on but I must go. Tim Loree

Totally agree with T. Boone Pickins ENERGY PLAN to develope Solar, Genosteam, Ntural Gas autos, trucks, even trains, also I ama big FAN on developing ELECTRIC BATTERY DRIVEN CARS !! way back in 1975, I engineered and converted a VW BUG to electric drive and communted to my office in south San Jose, CA. from my home in Santa Clara,CA. it was a fun project. I even mounted a solar panel on the roof of the VW to aid in charging the batteries in the car. We need to NOW cut off the BILLIONS OF $'s we are paying to Saudi Arabia and all the other Islamo-Fascist countries who not only don't like us but could cut OFF THE OIL FLOW TOMMOROW !! Many guys and gals I see drive by me in my HONDA "Insight Gas-Electric Car" with their petal-to-the-metal SPEED wasting GAS makes me WONDER how they will feel when the must PARK their STEEL STED with NO GAS AVALABLE SOON, or soon to rise again to ABOVE $8.00 a gallon like many places in Europe !! Beleive it !! it IS COMING again to our AMERICA, because witness the U.S. Treasury NOW RUNNING THE PRINTING MONEY PRESSES 24/7 !! SOON OUR U.S. $ WILL BE LIKE GERMANY'S IN THE 1890'S AS I AM FULLY AWARE OF AS MY GRANDFATHER & DAD LEFT GERMANY BECAUSE IT TOOK A WHEELBARREL OF 1000GERMAN MARKS TO BUY A LOAF OF BREAD!!! THINK I AM TELLING YOU A FALSEHOOD???!! THINK AGAIN !! I HAVE THE GERMAN 1000MARK NOTES TO PROVE IT. PLUS MY GRANDFATHERS LETTERS OF THAT PERIOD !!. So this is a major "WARNING" PREPARE NOW TO PUSH ACTIVELEY TO GET US THE U.S.A. "OFF" FORIEGN OIL AND PUSH TO "DRILL NOW EVERY WHERE" IN ALASKA AND HERE IN U.S.A!! .
