All,

The United States House of Representatives is considering the NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835) which would provide incentives for individuals and businesses to switch from vehicles which run on gasoline or diesel - which is largely imported - to clean, domestic natural gas. Please be sure to write our representatiave, Senators, and the President to support this bill.

Best,

Andy

Hello everyone. My name is Andrew Polacek and I have assumed the role of Pickens Plan District Leader for CA-10. Thank to Allen Payton for his work at getting us going. I work at a small private equity group in the San Francisco and I live in Walnut Creek. My thoughts on our goals are that we should focus on growing this group to over 500 members, get the Contra Costa Times to write an article on our cause, get a petition signed and then go to our represenative Ellen Tauscher and get her committed to the Pickens Plan. Then we'll target the Senators from there. My initial thoughts were to just start real simple in canvasing my neighborhood and trying to get people involved. Who else is ready to get active with me and grow our group to a level that Representative Tauscher will have no choice but to start paying attention to us and sign on to the Pickens Plan? What ideas do you all have? I look forward to working with all of you.

Best,

Andy

CA-10 Team,
Be sure to email Senators Feinstein and Boxer and ask them to support the alternative energy portions of H.R.1, the "stimulus" bill. It's real simple. Click on the "Take Action" link, above. Then, click on the box about emailing your U.S. Senators.
The bill, I'm sure will be changed before final passage, but we definitely want the alternative energy sections included.
Thanks.

Here is some information regarding funds for alternative energy in the stimulus package bill, HR 1, passed by the House today (from the Congressional Budget Office Estimate)

Title V—Energy and Water. Title V of Division A would provide $48.9 billion in
budget authority over the 2009-2019 period for programs related to energy and water
resources. That amount includes $43.9 billion for the Department of Energy (DOE),
$4.5 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers, and $500 million for the Bureau of
Reclamation. Most of the funding provided to DOE would promote nondefense activities
related to energy supply and conservation, including:
● $18.5 billion for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs (including
$6.2 billion to expand existing weatherization activities and $7.9 billion for
energy-related grants to states);
● $8.0 billion to cover the subsidy costs of federal loan guarantees for renewable
energy systems and electric transmission projects;
● $6.5 billion for capital investments by certain federal power marketing
administrations in electric power transmission systems;
● $4.5 billion to modernize the nation’s electricity grid; and
● $6.4 billion for various other activities.

CA-10 Leaders,
Now that the new president has been inaugurated, it's time to recruit more members and expand our efforts.

Be sure to go to your MyEnergy page, sign up or sign in and invite those on your email lists. If they live in the district, invite them to join this group. That will keep track of your activity on behalf of the Pickens Plan.

Help spread the word and grow the group!
Thanks.

CA-10 Team,
Email all your friends and family in the 10th District and invite them to join us on the Pickens Plan. We need 500 members by January 20th. Make it viral. Get 3 who get 3, etc., etc.
We can do it.
Thanks.
