BE 500 PEOPLE!

The first day of the 3 day Pickens Virtual March on Washington is around the corner. Among other actions, I’m encouraging everyone to send a single eMail EVERY DAY. That is counted as 500 in the minds of our elected officials.

In political arithmetic, you ARE 500 people. Every eMail legislative aides receive is statistically calculated to represent 500 people in a congressional district who feel exactly the same way...even if they didn’t actually write. That’s absolute fact. It’s a simple thing to do, but it has tremendous impact.

Please go to Find your District Congressman and enter your zip code in the box on the far right side. You will be directed to a page at CONGRESS.ORG that automatically finds and allows you to eMail your elected officials on the federal and state level. Copy and paste the following text:

--------------------------Beginning of Letter ---------------------------------------------------

(Subject Box:) Support the Pickens Plan

(Issue Area Box: Choose Energy)

(Editable Text Area:)

I am a constituent living in (FILL IN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OR TOWN) who supports the Pickens Plan and asks you to do the same. America’s dependence on foreign oil depletes our economy, threatens our national security and negatively impacts our environment.

Please sign the Pickens Pledge and support conservation, education and the development of clean energy at every possible opportunity. It’s important for our economy and the well being of generations to come.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of this matter.

------------------------End of Letter ------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest of the options are your own choice. Click the “Send Message” button at the bottom of the page.

This type of appeal makes our leaders take notice, and I urge every one of you to BE 500 PEOPLE today, because you really are. You have power that can be delivered with a few clicks of your finger. Don’t wait…do it now!

Thank you for your support.

Talking the talk and walking the walk. District Leader John Freeman's firm jumped into renewable energies almost two years ago and are creating jobs today.

I want to open by saying what a great concept this is. And I also want to be candid about some things. We all know that conversation opens up the mind for new and innovative ideas, which is the best way to see how things might work. But correct me if I am wrong, I do not see an actual strategy forming from this. I know that T. Boone Pickens has a plan/dream of which he, himself is acting on. But to truly achieve from this concept there needs to be short term goals set. Goals that can be performed by anyone immediately. That will get things started. I, like many others, do not know what it is needed to go out there and do my part for the Picken’s Plan and think that it would be very beneficial to have some sort of outline as to what needs to be done. Keeping a list of thing achieved, and a list of things to achieve, and how they correlate to each other chronologically.

In my opinion we need to: (by State/Area)

First of all break the Picken’s Plan down into different forms of energy, and then see how the Picken’s Plan will work in these areas . (some examples)
a. Fuels for vehicles
1. Natural gas vehicles
2. Bio-Fuels
3. Hybrids
4. Electric
b. Wind energy
1. Programs by State
c. Solar energy
1. Programs by State

Second, identify a “to do list” for each form of energy on what is actually needed to make these sustainable, and how to take action.

Third, outline the personal capabilities needed to achieve each goal or task, (this way people can identify better how they can provide help), and allow people to commit to the task by asking for volunteers, or by voting on the best qualified person for the task.

Last, but not least, there needs to be an area on the Picken’s Plan website showing this information broken down by area. Possibly a map of the U.S. having each map indicating each specific form of energy, (wind, solar, fuels) . Then, all one would have to do is click on the map and see what it is that is needed and what it is that has been accomplished.

To me this would allow for action as well as words. This is such an important topic in these economic times, and could be a great way to take responsibility on a local level. We cannot wait for our politicians to take action, it is up to US. Thank you.

We're finally here! The new Administration and Congress have been sworn in. Legislation is perking up everywhere. We will soon have legislation promoting the Pickens Plan. We have been working the past seven months for this - the next 100 days!

We need everyone's help.

If you haven't already, please host a meeting among the District group to see how your district can keep moving the Pickens Army forward.

Please continue to recruit new Members. Members have found success (and new acquaintances) by setting up a table in front of a store such as Wal-Mart or at a local park.

Write an op-ed or letter-to-the-editor to your hometown newspaper. Send that op-ed or letter to ALL the papers in your district.

Send a note to your Member of Congress that you want them to support the Pickens Plan when it becomes legislation.

And please report what you have done. A weekly report gets sent to Boone with figures such as how many op-eds and letters to the editor have been submitted, published, meetings held, etc. He follows our district activities every week.

Hi CA-51.

Please take a moment and introduce yourself and let your fellow district members know how you are able to help your district leader, John, achieve our district goals:

- recruit 500 new members
- organize existing members
- get letters to the editor and op-eds published in local media
- contact elected officials and get them to sign the Pledge

Welcome again. I look forward to everyone's support. Together we will make the Pickens Plan reality.

Also, if you have contacted your Member of Congress or Senators, submitted an op-ed or letter to the paper, please let me know about it. Thanks.

I encourage you to attend the San Diego International Auto Show, December 31 - January 4.

Ask the manufacturers when they are going to bring CNG cars to the American market. Given the current situation with the auto manufacturers, this is a great time to ask the question.
