As you know, today is the start of the Pickens Plan Virtual March on Washington. I included some messages below that you should feel free to use when trying to get friends and family to participate.

This is going to be my Facebook status over the next three days:

“Boone Pickens, Rock the Vote and I urged policy makers to pass energy legislation. You can too: http://tinyurl.com/c6b53s

This is what I emailed my friends, family and neighbors – and then sent to all of my Facebook friends:

“Join me, Boone Pickens and Rock the Vote in telling Congress and the President: Help improve our environment, economy & bring us toward energy independence by passing energy legislation now! Be heard today! http://tinyurl.com/c6b53s

April 1-3 is going to be an exciting time for the Pickens Plan and everyone involved! We have over 4.5 million people participating in this March with us. The more folks who contact Congress, the more impact we have on the debate.

For the first time in our nation’s history, we have millions of people converging on Washington, speaking with a unified voice, and demanding a viable, sustainable energy policy that ends our dependence on foreign oil.

It’s Go Time! Contact your member of Congress today!

Boone is counting on you. Visit http://www.pickensplan.com/virtualmarch/ today and let your voice be heard!

Do any companies offer starter solar setups? Something like in the 5K range that will help offset some Xcel costs and reduce my carbon footprint without breaking the bank. Hard to justify in todays economy spending 13K but for a few thousand it might be something others are willing to do just to make a difference with the option to add more capacity over time.

I called Coffmans DC office and gave a very curt, polite diatribe about Coffman's vote. Said thank-you and hung up after giving my zip code. I did not give the staffer any opportunity to BS me.

Everyone should call the Capitol's Switchboard and ask for Congressman Mike Coffman and give them so perspective. ;)

How dissappointing to see the vote coming out of the House of Representatives yesterday - for both parties. Partisan politics will be business as usual in Washington DC for the next fours years if the first week of the new administration is any indication. As long as a "economic recovery/stimulus package" can be used as air cover for wasteful government spending and pork barrel special interests, we're doomed to more of the same from our self serviing politicians of both parties.

Hopefully energy reform is a topic that cuts across party lines and becomes an issue that unites us, rather than yet another topic that divides us. The economic benefits of eliminating our dependance on foreign oil, the new jobs that Wind and Natural Gas programs for home energy and domestic transportation would create, is something that both Republicans and Democrats alike should find as common ground and be able to support. It creates jobs, removes foreign enemy control, creates jobs and generates new taxes.

Included in a much larger package, energy independance will probably look little like the plans we've originally envisioned. Keep hammering on your elected officials and encourage them to focus on this issue and not confuse or combine it with more politically charged programs.

I called Coffman's office today and asked for the Congressman to vote for the stimulus plan including the Picken's Plans details.

I think this Coffman guy is going to be partisian even after I saw him on TV recently saying "The problems are to big to be partisian".

BTW- I make calls without being told to dd so. Always have and will continue todo so. I recommend everyone call on all issues.
