It is 'feeling' more and more like something may happen this time and it is in our pathway now. What are some of the things we can/should do now and finally what should we start with first? I feel like NG is a good way to start now for FL. It would be fine to move forward without drilling here and natural gas just my be the way.

Would love to hear more about what we should do to get started here in FL.

What about solar power? We are the Sunshine State!! Yea! I'm looking into ways to green my home and my neighborhood.

Fossil Fuels: Coal, Oil, AND Natural Gas will all eventually run out: Coal - 300 years, Oil - 50 years, Natural Gas - 65 years. Why not focus on Photovoltaic technology and Photovoltaic solar power systems? For those who are unfamiliar with photovoltaic systems, they turn the suns energy into electricity. A few advantages are: they are reliable, durable, low maintenance (almost zero), they require no fuel, operate silently, safe, users are energy independent from utility company (safe from annual energy increases). Did you know that every hour the earth recieves enough energy from the sun to power everything on our planet for a whole year! Solar energy is not diminished by harvesting. The amount of energy we take today in no way diminishes how much we can take tomorrow. Photovoltaic panels are cheaper, more efficient, and versatile then they have ever been. Solar energy does depend on nuclear power! PV panels are just long distance antennas for nuclear energy. The power plant is relatively safe 90 million miles away. It is called the SUN. World energy consumption is projected to increase drastically and I feel that PV systems are our answer combined with other forms of renewable energy.

Do you have a line on affordable PV systems that are ready to install now? Bob
When dealing with the problems we have, of being subject to the dangers of depending on foreign oil, we determine we must become free of dependency on foreign oil sources first. There are many problems with continued use of fossil fuels and we must get free of it. Today the problem is what do we do first in dealing with this.

Since we are setup to use fossil fuel and it will take time to change to use alternative fuels we must first find a source of fossil fuel here that will reduce our dependence first on foreign sources of oil. This so we can free ourselves from foreign sources sooner.

This is a matter of first things first. That is our very first problem to deal with. First we want to be free of needing to use foreign oil. It will probably be that several different new energy sources will develop together however it will help now to have our own fossil fuels to help with the transition from foreign sources. We have some new oil sources and some dirty coal and some natural gas. How can we use these sources to do this transition sooner without impeding the search and development and then use of new-to-us clean energy sources.

Here is what we have at our disposal: 1) solar power , 2) wind and 3) requiring all federal/commercial buildings, including all of our school to change over to the energy saving lighting and converting to solar power or wind....or even do the green roofs that help to insulate and save energy. Florida could make a huge dent if we tried and in the end the state budget would be improved. I can tell you first hand that the schools are terrible about energy conservation and end up costing the state hundreds of thousands in energy bills then what is necessary... We just need someone to give a damn and be accountable for making the schools comply. Here's an idea, attaching energy conservation to incentives and salary's, money seems to be the best motivater.
