I think one of the most import things we can do is to convince the incoming Obama administration on the need to go forward with the Picken's Plan. Particularly the goal of using Compressed Natural Gas to power heavy trucking. As Mr. Pickens says, "If only 10% of all new heavy trucking were to use CNG, we could reduce our cost of foreign oil by as much a 50 billion dollars a year. Let's keep that objective in mind.

There are many new technologies in the future. Algae to oil being the one I like best. However, for now I think we need to move forward with the primary objective. I'm not forgetting other clean technologies, but lets get the CNG objective completed first!

Yes, the Alaska-Canada natural gas pipeline needs to brought to construction stage, and a beginning made on hybrid heavy trucks that can convert easily from CNG to the gas they presently use. We need to contact our Congressman and Senators on this, and don't forget the appropriate Committee leadership of both parties! (Committee leadership is available through both US Senate and US House of Representatives web sites.)
