Hi Friends,

I got an email from the folks at MoveOn.org about a meeting in Boca Raton on Saturday afternoon to discuss a massive grassroots movement to shift to a new energy economy to Boca Raton and South Florida. I'm not sure that I'll be there but it seems like getting MoveOn.org together with the PickenPlans would be a great meeting of the progressive minds!!!

Report on Sea Turtle Day at Gumbo Limbo Park, Boca Raton:

Ok! ,

Well it was a bit too exciting of a day. It started with me leaving about 08:30 in the mornng to arrive around 09:00. As I exited I-95 my car acted as though it was going to die. Within about three miles east of I-95 I started to smell something that didnt smell normal. At first I wondered if there were some fires in the Everglades. Then I realized what I was smelling wasnt grass. I immediately pulled off the main road just as my car died. It turns out that the aluminum battery box that I installed in the back of my car in order to put the hydrogen bubbler in my engine compartment was shorting out. As I jumped out of my car I started seeing smoke come out from under the hood. I put the fire out, which was only the ground wires, and realized I must have a problem with my battery. Sure enuff, I had a fire in the back of my explorer next to the battery box! Well Ted Wallace came to the rescue, I rewired the ground wires and Ted helped me to get a new battery. We werent going to let a small car fire stop us from our destiny so we headed on to Gumbo Limbo Park and I signed over 60 new signees! Ted got a bunch too and we decided to call it a day.

I guess the moral of the story is if you can find a community function in your area just show up with your sign up clip board and our citizens will jump on board. I was very interested with a bunch of college girls that came over from Ft. Myers and were interested in setting up a Pickens U. group at their college.

It works if you work it!!

Carry On!!!, carry on....

Chris, what a bummer about Gumbo Limbo... hmmm, I suppose I understand about the petitions, but maybe I could print off some literature from the sight and have it at my booth? I'll see what I can get away with, heh heh heh

Virtual March sounds great!!

Hi Chris and FL-22ers, great activity in your district for the Pickens Plan! And now, have you signed up for the Virtual March on Washington yet? It's April 1-3. We want to continue to have an impact on how the Administration formulates American energy policy, and the Army will focus its energy during those three days on e-mails, calls and faxes to every Member of Congress.

Click here for more information about the Virtual March! And let's all make the commitment to recruit 10 other people to take part, too.

Hey Team,

I spoke with Kristen Childs whom is responsible for events at Gumbo Limbo. She said because they are a state run facility they cannot allow anyone to sign petitions or have a petition signing on the property. So I guess we probably should not try to go. It would be pretty emarassing if they saw us getting signatures and ask us to leave.

Good try Jen.

Hey Jen,

Yeah I called but could only leave a voice message with the person who makes these decisions. So far no response back. I will keep trying.

Carry On!!!, carry on...

Hi Chris - Did you call to see if Pickens Plan can set up a table?

If not, you could probably walk around with clipboard and brochures :)
