I sent this letter to Jeff Greene, our Florida Leader on Oct 7th:

Jeff

Glad to hear that you are actively pursuing support for the CNG bills. Perhaps what we need to do is pursue a couple of actions like; send letters to the Florida Senators delegation (considering that they do not respond to emails or phone calls). I remain hopeful however, considering that Mel Martinez did in fact take my suggestion to leave office. His replacement, Governor Crist's appoinment, George LeMieux is considered a temporary place holder for the Governor who has much more than his eyes on that prize position. (NOTE: a recent vote on restricting Illegal immigrant access to jobs by the new Senator is promising) Remember to enclose in those letters an outline of what we plan to do in outing them to the Floridians that they are failing to represent. I am enclosing the address of the sole miscreant (in my opinion), our esteemed non-representative who has so deftlly managed to remain in office ignoring his constituents, as well as the new appointee.

Senator Bill Nelson:

Office Locations: http://billnelson.senate.gov/contact/offices.cfm

Senator George Lemieux:

As far as I am concerned, I feel we need to take our "promise of support for those who support us" to the next level and let them know that we aren't playing anymore. How about placing their faces in local newspapers with a challenge, ie providing the newspapers with story headlines, "Are Florida Senators failing to represent Floridians?" or "What have your Senators done for you?" It shouldn't be hard to fill in the story with how little they have done for any of us. Additionally I hope everyone continues to promote the Pickens Plan at http://push.pickensplan.com/profiles/blogs/network-pickens-plan-with. While I understand that it has been impossible to get their attention, perhaps a more public venue will get them listening and all members can individually use this course of action to further our energy concerns.

As I mentioned before the Florida's Channel televised Public Utility Commission's sessions have been basically a legal wrangling by the State and Progress Energy to justify a increase in utility rates. The end results appear that the public will be paying to offset Progress Energy's past expenses. Big business and government win, the consumer loses again. It will continue to be a difficult time for everyone economically and a declining opportunity for changing the status quo.

I hope everyone has a great upcoming month and remember the old addage with a new meaning, "Power to the People". May we not long remain "energy prisoners".

Today I sent a letter to one of the News Columnists, Aaron Deslatte, at the Orlando Sentinel in an effort to encourage the paper to support our energy efforts. We know that the Sentinel has a history of supporting our community and social consciousness, therefor I believe that we can expect their support. I encourage you to also write to him to encourage the paper's support by writing to him at: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/politics/orl-deslatte,0,3104527.columnist
The letter as sent follows:

Dear Aaron:

You may have heard of or seen the national television ads from T. Boone Pickens, the founder of the Pickens Plan. The Pickens Plan responds to our dependence on foreign oil where we find ourselves at the intersection of the three most critical issues America currently faces: the economy, the environment and our national security. Boone has his roots in oil, but has the desire to free Americans from being held "energy prisoners" of foreign oil, by his promoting alternative energy. His son, Mike Pickens is the Regional Leader for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

The Pickens Plan celebrated its one year anniversary in July with minimal exposure in Florida. Times are changing. The Pickens Plan recently named, Jeff Greene, as the State Leader of the Pickens Plan. We are refocusing our efforts to push the Pickens Plan in all 25 Congressional Districts. The message we are sending is simple, support our plan, show us a better one or we will assume you are supporting imported foreign oil. For those that sign, we pledge to bring out the votes, for those that don't we pledge we will support a candidate that will with votes, time and money.

We are also taking the Plan to all State, County and City representatives in addition to the Federal seats.

Energy Independence is a non-partisan issue that all Americans need to support, the fact that we are sending $24 Billion per month overseas for oil is a travesty that we can correct with domestic clean Natural Gas for vehicles. We also support and are promoting alternative energy development of Wind, Solar, Water and other alternatives. We are asking people to join us in our efforts to help make alternative energy eventually grow to become the primary energy in Florida. Sign up at your District here.

Fellow District Members I was contacted by Mike Pickens just a couple of hours ago and he was hoping that we could put together a last minute rally in Central Florida in support of the 1st Anniversary of the PP. My own problem, I am unavailable. Yet there is a great opportunity for everyone in the group to meet, perhaps in a downtown Orlando location, bring a few signs and be sure to take pictures to send to Mike, I encourage everyone who can attend to talk it up to as many people as you can bring with you or meet there in support of this anniversary and of course have them join the PP. Unfortunately I realize that this is short notice, albeit I have tried to get some response since I posted this back in May at: http://push.pickensplan.com/xn/detail/2187034:Event:2068329?xg_source=activity
Be sure to remember that Boone will have a couple appearances on July 7th ** In the morning starting 7:00 am EDT Boone will be on CNBC's Sqawk Box
** Later at 5:00 pm EDT he will be on Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck show
Boone will have additional appearances on Wednesday so look out for more information to come for national and local coverage. Please check your local listings to confirm times and stations. I will post this here and send a group email out. Thanks for all of your support and dedication. It is my hope that anyone who is available can help make the news for our area.. Mark

According to their records, you live in Florida's 24th congressional district and of course most sophisticated phones today use things far superior to caller ID when licked to a computer, so it doesn't surprise anyone that they've got your number and who you are. For those of you who haven't been as active in sending your emails once again here are our representatives phone numbers:

Please pick up the phone today and ask Rep. Suzanne M. Kosmas, Sen. Bill Nelson, and Sen. Mel Martinez to pass President Obama's budget.

Rep. Suzanne M. Kosmas (D-FL-24)
CALL: 202-225-2706

Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL)
CALL: 202-224-5274

Sen. Mel Martinez (R-FL)
CALL: 202-224-3041

Once you are done calling them the first time, be sure to reinforce these calls with followup calls just so they begin to realize that we are wathcing them and how responsive they are to voying the way we as their constituants want them to vote. With this vote, we have a historic opportunity to create jobs, restore our economy, and invest in energy, health care, and education for our future.

Don't let this important moment slip away.

After your call, please come back here to share the results of your efforts:

I have emailed everyone on each of the three days and coupled that with phone calls to each on all things days, just for good measure. I do think of couple of the girls answering the phones are getting tired of me though. Know how I came to that conclusion? One actually sighed when she heard my voice and both of these particular women knew my name, one before I even had a chance to say who it was calling! Nothing like it. As the old saying goes, 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease'. Let us all continue being that squeaky wheel!

District members, we’re at the third and final day of the Virtual March, and today we are focusing on getting action on a bill to establish a 21st century transmission system and a National Renewable Electricity Standard (RES). As Boone points out, twenty-eight states now have an RES – which directs electric utilities to produce a set percentage of their power using alternative sources by a date certain.

Let’s make a great final push. Please use this link to contact Congress and the President again today and send a message to them about renewable energy! Thanks to all who have participated in the Virtual March this week!

Thanks to Mark and David for your comments, and to all of you who have taken action in the Virtual March so far! It’s Day Two, and the focus today is on oil imports -- the March 2009 numbers show we imported 65 percent of the oil we used -- so let’s contact our Members of Congress again today about reducing America’s dependency on foreign oil. You can do this by phone, of course, and we have also set up links to e-mail Congress or contact your members via Facebook and Twitter about today's issue.

When you’ve done this, please leave a note here on our group page to let other members know you’ve taken action, and tell us if you received any information or feedback from the members’ offices.

Also, if you are a business owner or part of an organization that would like to take part in the Virtual March, please let me know and we’ll recognize you as a partner on the Pickens Plan Virtual March page!
