Hi Everyone,
The following link which Renee gave us is great as it not only goes to the President and district reps but also to several other key participants such as Energy secretary etc.. Here it is again, please do this one today. we have also set up links to e-mail Congress or contact your members via Facebook and Twitter about today's issue.we have also set up links to e-mail Congress or contact your members via Facebook and Twitter about today's issue.

Thanks, Tim, for what you're doing, and thanks to all of you who have taken action in the Virtual March so far! It’s Day Two, and the focus today is on oil imports -- the March 2009 numbers show we imported 65 percent of the oil we used -- so let’s contact our Members of Congress again today about reducing America’s dependency on foreign oil. You can do this by phone, of course, and we have also set up links to e-mail Congress or contact your members via Facebook and Twitter about today's issue.

When you’ve done this, please leave a note here on our group page to let other members know you’ve taken action, and tell us if you received any information or feedback from the members’ offices.

Also, if you are a business owner or part of an organization that would like to take part in the Virtual March, please let me know and we’ll recognize you as a partner on the Pickens Plan Virtual March page!

Hi everyone,
I have sent e-mails to President Obama and our district leaders today and ask everyone in our district to do the same for the virtual march. Your help is much appreciated. In answer to the question about Mr. Boone Pickens being open to your thoughts I would encourage you to share them through this forum or through his LinkedIn group. Thanks for your support.

The first day of the three-day Pickens Plan Virtual March on Washington is here!

Among other actions, I’m encouraging everyone to send a single e-mail today, tomorrow, and Friday. It’s a simple thing to do, but it has tremendous impact.

Click here to ask Congress and President Obama to support the NAT GAS Act of 2009.

Thank you for your support.

Hi district members, have you signed up for the Virtual March on Washington yet? It's April 1-3. We want to continue to have an impact on how the Administration formulates American energy policy, and the Army will focus its energy during those three days on e-mails, calls and faxes to every Member of Congress.

Click here for more information about the Virtual March! And let's all make the commitment to recruit 10 other people to take part, too.

How do we get our collective thoughts regarding the complete plan that is required up to Boone? Is he set on his message and concrete in his plan? Or, is he open to clarifying it to be sure we do not give up our freedoms while we substantially reduce our dependence on foreigh oil?
Our push to provide the ability for the American people and businesses to purchase and operate CNG powered vehicles will automatically make for a cleaner environment and less energy usage in the US. We do not need to add additional strings onto this effort towards "Global Warming" initiatives or other such controversial social issues.
Let's stick to the goal of reducing usage of foreign oil by moving to CNG powered vehicles in a market place environment.
How do we modify Boone's communications since he has the resources to get the message out to the public?
He should educate the public on the difference of the energy required to produce CNG at your home vs switching oil into gasoline. It takes substantial energy to convert oil to gasoline, but natural gas flows directly to your home from its initial state and a little bit of electricity is required to compress it into your car. This should be a major part of "selling" the public on the reasons to switch along with the much cheaper cost of CNG compared to gasoline.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for the dialog and actions you have taken. I invite you to connect with me and share your thoughts and ideas. I encourage you to contact your government officials and push movement toward clean energy and energy independence. The more people especially government officials and business managers we can get to understand the real situation the better off we will all be not only environmentally but also financially and security. I am getting to know more of you and also how to best work with and communicate using the tools provided here so I look forward to much progress in the future.
Thanks for all you do. Tim

I like this dialog. I would like to respond to a few good points made below.
I understand that the oil companies pay for the right to drill for the oil by purchasing the leases from the US government. They also pay royalities to the government on the oil that is produced. In the lease agreement language, a clause could be inserted to be sure the oil is sold to US producers.
I agree that drilling for US oil is not the end all solution, but it is an important part of the long term energy plan to reduce our dependance on foreign oil.
How will the hundreds of millions of gasoline powered cars get their gasoline over the next 10 years if we do not have oil to make into gasoline.
I firmly believe that we should have CNG powered new cars produced by US auto makers so that a good portion of all new cars purchased in the US can be CNG powered. But, our country cannot afford to just throw away 300 million cars in one year and replace them with non-gasoline burning alternatives.
The drill now here, produce CNG powered cars, while continuing to develop electric powered vehilcles I believe is the right path for the US to take to get us to quickly reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
I would support an increase in gasoline taxes after the recession is over in order to fully pay for our road and bridge infrastructure expenditures.
I do not support any form of cap and trade taxes.
I would also support switching any oil company subsidies to fund switching to CNG supply and eliminating all subsidies for producing ethanol from food sources, that does not make sense.
I welcome comments with additional factual discussions.

Clearly there is a misunderstanding of the reason this group exists. From the very beginning T. Boone Pickens has stated that this a a problem that we can't drill our way out of. Nothing has changed there. We need to be seeking other means to create clean energy that we can use to replace extractive, national security threatening sources. The one that he is willing to back with his billions is wind. Other people have their money behind solar in its various forms.
The longer we keep holding on to the old paradigms that harder it is going to be to move onto the next phase. During the talk this morning there was reference to the cap and trade system for dealing with CO2 pollution. I believe that this will just insitutionalize the problem. I favor a straight tax on it. I also believe that we need to start weening these companies off the huge subsidies that we have been supporting them with. Clean technologies have just started getting the support they deserve. If we were to support them to the tune of the Billions going to oil, coal and nuclear industries there might be a more level playing field on the comp[aritive cost of energy.
Les Arnold Comment by Les Arnold on February 23, 2009 at 3:27pm
I am not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. We, this group, this district in this group, this movement can still achieve our goal, but only if we work together.
Additionally, all the talk about drilling everywhere has to be tempered by a reality. If the oil companies drill in the gulf or off the coast of California, the oil they bring up belongs to the oil company, not the United States; the oil companies will sell it where they can make the most money, regardless of our needs, so this may not be the solution many seem to think it is. We are best off pursuing other sources of power, and rapidly as we can.
