'66 GTO Goes Green for Route 66
Source: Dave Eyvazzadeh, Wired

The Pontiac GTO was the first true muscle car, a gas-guzzling, tire-smoking beast built when oil was cheap, the roads were open and no one gave a damn about fuel economy or emissions. Such a car is an anachronism these days. Unless, of course, you convert it to run on natural gas. That’s just what a pair of Alabama gearheads have done with a ‘66 GTO, and they’re taking it on a road trip along historic Route 66.

If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR® CFL bulb, we would save almost six billion kWh per year—enough energy to light nearly three million homes. We'd also save more than $600 million in annual energy costs and reduce greenhouse gases by the equivalent of nearly 750,000 cars. The average CFL lasts 10,000 hours, and when you replace it, you can recycle it!

T. Boone Pickens talks with Bloomberg's Doron Levin about the outlook for oil prices. Boone, speaking at the Bloomberg Washington Summit, says oil will rise to $100 a barrel next year. He says the world has "maxed out" at 85 million barrels a day of production. To watch video of this interview click on the link below:

Army.

We reached our goal of 120 bi-partisan cosponsors of the NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835) way before 11/20.

Our efforts are having an impact!

You know the numbers on natural gas: 2,000 trillion cubic feet of reserves in the continental United States; more than 100 years worth -- enough to fuel our heavy truck fleet, provide electrical power to our homes and businesses, plenty for cooking and heating, and more than enough remaining for other crucial uses like fertilizer and chemical production.

Congressmen Dan Boren (D-OK), John Sullivan (R-OK), and John Larson (D-CT) have shown true leadership in helping their colleagues to see how important passing the NAT GAS Act is to America's energy future.

We are keeping the pressure on, and we've got our eye on the goal: Get this bill passed in the House and the Senate, signed into law by President Obama, and begin reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

If you haven't already, click here to email your Member of Congress today and ask them to cosponsor this important legislation.

Let's keep this momentum going.

Hey Army!
Congress is on its Spring break, but that doesn’t mean they’re out of touch. Most U.S. Senators and Representatives are back in their home states and districts willing to meet with and listen to their constituents.
That’s you!
When they left for their recess legislation had been introduced to promote natural gas; to promote energy efficiency; to promote a 21st century transmission grid; and to promote a national Renewable Energy Standard – in short to promote THE PICKENS PLAN.
In my business career I have seen too many people miss out because they thought that getting close was good enough. You and I know that when you are close, that’s the time to turn up the heat and push the ball over the goal line.
Click here to send your Member of Congress an e-mail - today. Drive over to one of their local offices and chat with a staffer. Click here to coordinate an event with fellow Pickens Plan supporters in your area by joining your District Group.
Let’s keep the pressure on and we’ll win for the Pickens Plan, but more important, we’ll win for America.

The Pickens Plan is organizing a Virtual March on Washington to be held April 1-3, 2009.

So what is a "Virtual March"?

We are going to utilize the size and unique capabilities of the New Energy Army to have an enormous impact on the White House and Congress. The Army will focus its energy during those three days on e-mails, calls and faxes to every Member of Congress.

Between now and then we will be engaging in a series of activities to get ready for the event, including:

* Contacting Members of Congress through email and phone calls to encourage support for key aspects of the Pickens Plan.

* Recruiting new members of the Army in every Congressional District.

* Submitting letters to the editor and op-eds to newspapers around the country.

* Holding district meetings and house parties with members of the Army to discuss ways to have an impact.

* Participating in webcast events.

We will be communicating with members of the Army via email, Push, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn to build support and enthusiasm for the event. Make sure you are connected to us on any of these platforms where you have a profile!

Be sure to take photos and videos of your activities over the next couple months - we will soon be inviting you to submit items to be featured here on the Virtual March homepage.

Sign up today to participate in the Virtual March and recruit your friends and family to join you!

(If you are interested in visiting your Members of Congress during the virtual march, please contact your Regional and/or District Leader for more information.)
