We reached our goal of 120 bi-partisan cosponsors of the NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835) way before 11/20! A Global Gamechanger

You know the numbers on natural gas: 2,000 trillion cubic feet of reserves in the continental United States; more than 100 years worth -- enough to fuel our heavy truck fleet, provide electrical power to our homes and businesses, plenty for cooking and heating, and more than enough remaining for other crucial uses like fertilizer and chemical production.

I contacted State Rep. Dick Dodge. Here was his intern's answer. I think they missed my point - convert state vehicles to natural gas & offer incentives for state employee's to convert their own vehicles if used for state business.. I sent a return email and will publish if I get a response.

Dear Mr. Moore,

Thank you for your e-mail. Representative Dodge received your correspondence and forwarded it to me, his legislative assistant, for response on his behalf.

He is familiar with the federal legislation, H.R. 1835. While he thinks that it could be a good idea and something that he may consider in the future, he does not think that it is something that he could draft as legislation at this time. This would most likely require a large fiscal appropriation in the state budget and with the present economy and declining state revenues he is sure that a proposal of this size and expenditure would require much research and study prior to proposing any legislation.

He thanks you for your interest and welcomes any additional information you may have on this subject.

Sincerely,

Brittany Campbell

A consortium of Chinese and American companies announced a joint venture Thursday to construct a massive 600-megawatt wind farm in West Texas, using wind turbines manufactured in China.

As a result of HR 1835 activity, I sent State Representative Dick Dodge a request to promote legislation within Indiana to require State of Indiana vehicles to us Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). In addition, the request also ask for incentives to be awarded to Indiana State employees who convert their vehicles to CNG and for installing in home CNG compressors that run off the natural gas lines.

I was going to provide the exact text here but dumb me, I forgot to turn on Ditto and the exact copy was lost forever.

Scientists at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have developed a new environmentally friendly silicon-air battery capable of supplying non recharged power for thousands of hours. The findings are published in the October 2009 issue of Electrochemistry Communications.

Created from oxygen and silicon (the second most plentiful element in the earth’s crust), such batteries would be lightweight, have an unlimited shelf life, and have a high tolerance for both humid and extremely dry conditions. Potential uses include medical applications (for example, powering diabetic pumps or hearing aids), sensors and microelectronics structured from silicon.

From the desk of T. Boone Pickens

Army:

What a couple of weeks it’s been and I have lots to report and something very important to ask.

There’s a new Natural Gas Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives which is headed by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) and Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK). The more than 40 bi-partisan members of the caucus held a major hearing on Capitol Hill. The Natural Gas Caucus talked about how the development of America’s natural gas resources will help set America on a path to energy independence and create millions of new jobs. It was a great event and an important message to get out there.

But here’s the really important part.

We’ve got just under 100 cosponsors of the NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835) in the House—and that’s great—but I think we can educate more Members of Congress, build on that support and do a lot more.

Click here to email your Member of Congress and ask them to become a cosponsor of the NAT GAS Act.

I think we can get at least another 20+ cosponsors in the coming weeks so I’m calling on every member of the Army to reach out to their Member of Congress right now so that we can get to at least 120 sponsors by November 20th. I’m calling it 120 by 11-20.

I’m going to be working the phones and I need you to as well. Army, we can get this done and show Congress that it’s time to end our dependence on foreign oil.
