Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson has signed the Pickens Pledge for Energy Independence. Following his lead, Kansas Lt. Governor Troy Findley has also signed the Pickens Pledge. We greatly appreciate their leadership and look forward to working with them to help end America's dependence on foreign oil.

Thanks to your calls and emails, these two elected officials have now taken a stand for energy independence. Please take some time and thank them for their leadership!

Letters to the editor are some of the most effective ways of communication today! Op-Eds and local LTE are terrific marketing tools that allow you to convey your thoughts and ideas to your friends, family and neighbors. They are fun, make an impact and, best of all, FREE!

Help Boone spread his message of ending our dependence on foreign oil.

Do you want to have a letter to the editor you write published in your local newspaper? If so, message me on Push or email me at Geoffrey@pickensplan.com and I can help you come up with a LTE of your own.

It's the little effort we make today that makes the big difference tomorrow!

Good Afternoon!

We are smack dab right in the middle of August Recess. Members of Congress (MOC) are back in their districts, holding events and Town Hall meetings. This is our time to shine army! While the majority of the current Town Hall meetings are focusing on Health Care, other issues are covered as well. I would encourage you to attend your MOC Town Hall and ask them a few quick questions:

1. What is your plan to end our dependence on foreign oil?
2. If you don’t have a plan, do you support the Pickens Plan?
3. If so, would you sign the Pickens Pledge?
4. Are you a Co-Sponsor of HR 1835, “The Natural Gas Act of 2009?” It’s a vital piece of legislation that, for the first time, gives the right incentives for natural gas to become a viable transportation fuel alternative to foreign oil. It currently has 77 bipartisan Co-Sponsors in the House – split almost evenly between Republicans and Democrats.

To find out where your MOC is having their next Town Hall meeting, visit their website and email/call their office for more information. You can do that here: http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml or by calling the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

Also, don’t forget about your Senators! S 1408 is the sister bill of HR 1835 and we need to make sure all 100 members of the United States Senate have signed up as Co-Sponsors! You can check out where your Senators are having Town Halls in your area by emailing/calling their offices for dates and locations. You can do that here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm or by calling the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

Together, we can end our dependence on foreign oil. But it is going to take all of us working together. The effort we put in today will give us the secure energy future we want for tomorrow!

I am quite disapponted to see such a lack of activity on this site. I would think that more can be done in regards to making the Pickens Plan better known to people. I know from personal experience in the renewable energy industry that there is much more interest throughout the general public than this site appears to indicate.

Students and faculty at the University of Kansas hear home state hero Bob Dole and Senator Brownback talk nat gas, energy and how to get America off foreign oil.

Wednesday, Boone joined US Senator Sam Brownback and former Senator Bob Dole for a Pickens Plan Town Hall event. It was standing room only as over 700 people crowded into the Robert Dole Institute for Politics at Kansas University.

Al,

Great question! I'm sorry you couldn't make it out to the KU Town Hall. I will post the video for everyone to see. The Town Hall was a tremendous success. Sen. Brownback was there. Sen. Dole was there. It really was a fantastic venue.

I think our efforts in Kansas are going gangbusters! If you think back, our first Town Hall was in Topeka, and Gov. Sebelius was the first Governor to sign the Pickens Pledge. Now, we just need to get Senator Brownback and Senator Roberts on board. Why they haven't signed? I dont know. They should. And we need to make sure they do.

We need to continue to call and email them, asking them to support the plan. Kansas stands to benefit a great deal from wind power and natural gas. Its almost a no brainer.

Has anybody had any sucess with Senator Roberts. I have emailked hiom at least 3 times and received a written reply at least twice. the replays always gave a litinany of what he and the congress has done about energy plans but never any coment at all about the "Plan" ,or expressing any willingness to sign the pledge nor any reason why he won't sign. We have somehow got to get Sen. capacityerts on board. Al

This is directed to Geoff, I was unable to attend the towenhall meeting at KU yeasterday dispite the best of plans. Did Boone address what he needed to get some influance in Topeka which he has said before he lacked? If so, what is KS-02 planning to do to suport this need.? al huggard

KU Town Hall

Boone is coming to Lawrence and he wants to hear from you! Wednesday, April 8th, Boone is holding a Town Hall at the Robert Dole Institute of Politics at Kansas University. Boone will be joined by Senator Sam Brownback and former Senator Bob Dole.

Boone will talk about his plan to jumpstart our economy, create millions of new jobs and keep us safer here at home by ending our dependence on foreign oil. Senator Brownback will talk about how Kansas stands to benefit from the Pickens Plan, and how wind energy and natural gas as a transportation fuel will play a vital role in the state’s energy future.

The Town Hall begins promptly at 4:30. Seating is limited, so please arrive early. Boone will also be holding a book signing after the Town Hall for his New York Times bestseller, “The First Billion is the Hardest.” 100% of the proceeds go to wounded veterans at Brooke Army Medical Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

I look forward to meeting some of you!

Geoff
