Letter to the editor
Here is a letter I sent to the local newspaper:
Dear Fellow Patriots,
America is addicted to foreign oil! As with most addictions this addiction will be deadly. It threatens our national security, our environment, and our economy. As you know, one thing besides wheat we have in abundance is wind. We are all aware of the many challenges facing our nation. In the past decade we have gone from an era of great peace and prosperity to war, recession, and absolute turmoil.
It does not take a genius to determine that our present course is unsustainable. While gas prices have eased in the past six months we a now seeing them rise again. More and more jobs have been outsourced causing the national unemployment rate to rise to levels not seen since the great depression. In 1970 America imported 24% of our oil, today the level is up to 70% and growing. This oil is imported from nations that have stated a desire to destroy our great nation and our way of life.
T. Boone Pickens has suggested a plan for changing our countries dependence on foreign oil. His plan is focused on the following pillars:
• Create millions of new jobs by building out the capacity to generate up to 22 percent of our electricity from wind. And adding to that with additional solar capacity;
• Building a 21st century backbone electrical grid;
• Providing incentives for homeowners and the owners of commercial buildings to upgrade their insulation and other energy saving options; and
• Using America's natural gas to replace imported oil as a transportation fuel.
Our elected President campaigned with the slogan, “Yes we can.” Let’s hold him to his pledge by doing our part to free America from our deadly addiction. Please educate yourself on this issue by visiting http://www.pickensplan.com/theplan/ and then make your voice heard.
Together we can beat those who seek to destroy our Great Nation.

Great letter Michael! Letters to the Ediotr are really easy to write and a great way to spread the word about the plan.

I have no doubt that when the economy begins to get better more and more people are going to do the right thing by beginning to install alternative energy systems on their private homes as well as their business facilities. However, at this point in time people are more concerned with whether they are even going to have a job in order to keep a roof over their heads.
There is only one matter that was not mentioned in the above letter written by Mr. Forquer and this is the fact that not only do these countries who wish to destroy our nation have control over the majority of the petroleum, they also have possession of the exact same types of software and hardware that are used to run our coal-fired electrical generating plants. This means that if the wrong people gain access to our elctrical generating systems, they could sabotage large portions of our electrical grid for many months and this would create a disaster unlike anything ever witnessed in history. Think about it. We wouldn't be able to haul enough propane or natural gas into the hospitals to maintain their electrical power with stand-by generators, let alone provide power to any businesses or other critical facilities. People would literally be dying by the thousands. I saw one short piece in the news regarding this threat several months ago and nothing since then. People should be scared out of their wits about this, but nothing is being said about it. Chris Thompson, CEO, RET-NEK, LLC
