On Fox news at 10 PM tonight (Mar 11) there is going to be an item about wind power in Western Mass this evening. I will watch it and hope to find out more info.

DC is starting to listen! Boone’s latest email and today’s video blog has some great news, but he still needs your help. Please tell your Senators you want them to support the Pickens Plan components of the stimulus package.

There is now a Contact Congress function on the Pickens Plan site specifically for this issue. Go here or to the tabs at the top of this page: “Take Action”, then “Contact Congress” and follow the prompts from there.

We are also encouraging everyone to place calls directly to your Senator’s offices. Here is contact information for Senators Kennedy and Kerry:

Senator Ted Kennedy

Senator John Kerry

We’re tracking Congressional response, so please let us know when you get a reply.

I've contacted Tierney, Kennedy and Kerry. Basic message: don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. In addition, I've separately urged Kerry to sign on, despite the fact that I (and most probably he) think Pickens was a jerk in supporting the "swift boating". Point is, even the worst jerk is sometimes right, and justifiable hurt feelings and anger don't often make good public policy.

There's still time to contact your representatives about the stimulus package before tomorrow's House vote. Let's try to answer Boone's email with at least 10 calls placed and reported

And here's another approach to the message that is concise and to the point:

"I support the wind energy elements included in the Stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector:
-- Extension of the Production Tax Credit
-- Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program

I urge you to support doing more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America. Expanded use of NGVs (natural gas vehicles) will help wean us off of foreign oil and create new American jobs. These incentives include:
-- Increasing the vehicle tax credit to make natural gas trucks more accessible for heavy and medium duty truck operators
-- Extending the fuel tax credit

The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan - wind and natural gas - and I hope Members of Congress will support that. The Stimulus Bill is a strong start but there's more we can - and should – do."

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hello MA-06 -- Time to get to work.

By now you’ve seen Boone's email about the stimulus package scheduled for a vote in the House of Representatives this Wednesday. We need you to make ONE PHONE CALL today to Congressman Jim Tierney’s office in DC (202) 225-8020, Peabody (978) 531-1669, or Lynn (781) 595-7375. We also encourage you to reach out to Senators Kennedy and Kerry.

Here are some talking points to use when you call the Congressman's office:

1. Your constituents support the wind energy elements included in the Stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector:
-- Extension of the Production Tax Credit
-- Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program

2. We hope you're willing to do more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America.

3. The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan - wind and natural gas - and we hope Members of Congress will support that. The Stimulus Bill is a strong start but there's more we can - and should – do.

Once you make your call, leave a comment here and let us know how it went. Or email me directly - judy.depalma@pickensplan.com. And be sure to give me your name and email address so we can make sure you get the 10 MyEnergy points we are awarding for each phone call.

Good luck, and let's go!

That is awesome Merle. I did just click on the Distric Leaderboard link above and it looks like John Tierney has already signed Boone's pledge, which is nice. I live up in Salisbury and drop my son off at school each day in Newburyport about one block from a 600 KW turbine standing in Newburyport. http://www.markrichey.com/what_we_do/wind-turbine-generator.cfm
It should start spinning in the coming weeks. VERY COOL.
Let me know if you think getting together would be a good idea...
Maybe some sort of pot luck dinner would be right in these tough economic times...

I live in Hamilton and am working with the Town and USAF to put a wind turbine on the USAF property in town. We have a met tower installed last June and it is giving us data on an hourly basis. We have just been funded my MTC to do a feasibility study for this site. I am a retired GE engineer who has work on renewable energy projects as a GE Project Engineer back in the 1970's. I would be willing to be the district leader if no one is interested.
Louise McRae Comment by Louise McRae on January 24, 2009 at 7:58am
I just called Kerry and Tierney offices; got voice mail but left my detailed input re the Stimulus Plan alert I received and urged both to do more going forward.
I live near 3 wind turbines and love seeing them as they spin; they create beauty as well as an environmental plus.
We need to urge for more of these everywhere!!!
